David Beckham: I couldn't watch Manchester United for two years after leaving

David Beckham gives his reaction to comments made in Sir Alex Ferguson's book. Beckham then explains his decision to purchase a new MLS franchise, expected to be in Miami

    but how many people have won the league in 4 different countries including the top 3 (English, Spanish and Italian)? He’s experienced it everywhere when the easiest thing to do would be to stay at Utd when they were winning it every year, plus what he achieved with England, AND coming runner up in Ballon D’Or behind Rivaldo... when he was at Real he played, and held his own, with some of the all time world greats (Zidane and better Ronaldo etc)... give me his career over Scholes, Giggs, Keane etc any day!!!

    Beckham's take on his exit from United is such a contrast compared with Roy Keane. Two very different personalities, but Beckham's respect for Ferguson and lack of bitterness seems so genuine. Life is too short to hold grudges, clashes happen at the pinnacle of football. I just wish Roy Keane would one day make his peace with Fergie before it is too late.

    Kess O IF I was saying that during his entire career at OT was there a season or maybe 2 where he would have been regarded as in the Top 3 players then you might be right but his career at OT was longer than 2 seasons. Straight off the top of my head there were players like Cantona, Scholes, Schmeichel, Giggs, Stam, RVN, Keane who in my opinion were all better players than Becks. Its all about opinions but those that went regularly knew that those I mentioned brought more to the party than Becks !

  • @TheKomezy

    @TheKomezy

    9 жыл бұрын

    It all depends on how you see it as it all boils down to opinions or maybe stats of which in your case its clearly the former. Outside Cantona I believe for the period he was at OT he had a case with the rest you mentioned. The heights he reached while at OT to get the recognition he did, the rest didn't. I just believe the fact that he was popular outside football kind of overshodows what he did on the pitch.

  • @KryptonitetoallBS

    If he didn't, he won't have been the second best player in the world twice. Don't get me wrong Scholes is a great player and Keane no doubt but on narrowly missing out on being the best footballer in d world while playing with both of them as well as other carrier stats during that period means its only opinion that can actually put those you mentioned in front of him.

    Becks married Victoria, and she started changing him from being a professional footballer in the same mold as Scholesy, Giggsy, the Nev brothers and Butt, into this childish egotistic superstar who didn't fit into Sir Alex' plan for the team. The bootkick to Becks' face was merely the trigger who turned their relationship to the point where there was no going back. Becks has since then learned from the hardships he's had in his career, and he's always had that United upbringing with him, so he turned things around from being an egotistic childish superstar, to become the great, generous and humble man he is today. And he will always be a United lad at heart.

    Erm, hold on, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought that Beckham went to Real Madrid through his own choice, not that United sold him :S did I understand that correctly? Why would we have sold our best player to Real? With Ronaldo it was his dream to play for Real but not Beckham....odd

    but how many people have won the league in 4 different countries including the top 3 (English, Spanish and Italian)? He’s experienced it everywhere when the easiest thing to do would be to stay at Utd when they were winning it every year, plus what he achieved with England, AND coming runner up in Ballon D’Or behind Rivaldo... when he was at Real he played, and held his own, with some of the all time world greats (Zidane and better Ronaldo etc)... give me his career over Scholes, Giggs, Keane etc any day!!!
