I can't think of anybody in the past generation who has been a better ambassador for English sport than Beckham. A lot of rubbish is wrote about him that is rooted in jealousy but with everything thrown at him he has kept his dignity and respect every time. His attitude is exemplary. He gave everything for Manchester United, won everything there is to win, and was a fantastic player with the best crossing and free kick taking ability in world football. He remains a legend at the club.

He is committed to his country so much that he takes time out of his busy life to try and bring the World Cup back to England for the first time since 1966, to meet at Old Trafford tonight the Chilean Miners who got trapped, to watch his beloved United play, to support his country in whatever way he can. All those in the media who slaughter him and couldn't resist a Beckham dig should be ashamed of themselves. He is a credit to his country and for every club he has played for.

Then with England. He is so passionate about this country that he's always put it first. He's always been available for England when others pull out with "knocks", he's captained the side magnificently for so long, lead by example and I can remember countless times i've thought other players need the passion he does for us to be successful. He has been mistreated by a section of England fans, given the cold shoulder by managers but has always been brought back. That shows you what a man he is.

amazing video, i hate manchester united's guts, but David is as absolutely amazing player, he's had his lows, made mistakes, but we all do that, his the ultimate ambassador for football and all of the things that he's done on and off the pitch has really raised the interest in our game in countries such as the United States. i hope he gets well soon, i'd be so sad to see him retire.
