David Archuleta was super popular back then in the Philippines. I was one of his supporter who went to his mini concert in a mall and had his autograph signed CDs. I even watch the live performance of his soap opera Nandito Ako in the Philippines. I was there watching him sing live. I am so proud of you David of what you have become. I just came out and you really inspired me the most.

I cried a tear when your mum left her religion because she didn't want to be a part of something that didn't make her children feel welcome, she is amazing!

I remember seeing an American Idol clip where he sang a bit of "What a Feeling," and I thought you might have a tough time at your church. Listening to Dolly Parton's "Jolene" reminded me of his amazing performance of "Smokey Mountain Memories." I'm glad everything turned out for the best.

58:53 David, a paralyzed vocal cord is relatable -- mine was due to heart surgery when I was 14. I had a collagen injection otherwise I would have aspirated on my own spit / water / etc. PS pudding thick water (corn starch) until a spoon can stand in it is a disgusting drink I highly encourage anyone to try once. PPS, I cried when you mentioned this. The perfectionism that we may have been raised with as mormons (now ex-mormons) is also sadly relatable because it crushes more talent and skill than I actually care to admit. Remember folks, be kind to yourself, we are all simply improving each and every day... Connect with your authentic self, EXACTLY, congratulations on coming out btw

Thank you, Mike Manning for this informative interview with David Archuleta. David was relaxed and your warm, casual style drew him out. Plus your shared interest in Social/Cultural topics, the Media Industries, People you know in common and Music, etc. made for an enjoyable ride! I'm so pleased you mentioned your involvement in the making of documentaries. If I may be so bold to say that I think David's voice was not only made for singing, but could be put to use as a narrator for a documentary he could morally support and enrich!! His speaking voice is indeed rich, melodic and mellow with deeper textured registers and draws my captivated attention upon hearing it! Okay, here's a story: Recently, I had seen a PBS Nature show on biodiversity as well as another interview with David. I was at another time in a relaxed state and I had an audio/visual experience (day dream) where I saw an aerial drone shot of a tropical canopy and heard David's voice narrating a few words about it! it lasted about five seconds and I thought "Wow, that would be brilliant"! My optometrist has informed me that I have an extra artery running to my optic nerve, so perhaps that has some bearing on the event and I do enjoy the occasional flying dream from time to time! Anyway, something worthwhile in my humble opinion and thank you for your time and patience!!

So many of us are on parallel journeys with you, David. Leaving the church is so hard. Coming out is so hard. Navigating relationships with TBM family members as you're coming out and leaving the church is SO damn hard. But we're doing it. Claiming back my true self has been a monumental task while clearing these hurdles. And David, you are the literal voice giving us visibility. Helping people see the struggle we've gone through... And still are. Thank you so much. ♥️ Mike, thanks for giving such a great interview. First time listener here. Subscribed!

You do you. My son struggled serving a mission , byu the whole thing. Now he is gone. We loved him no matter what and it was the oaks of the world and byu honor code office that was incredibly damaging. I hold them both responsible. So for my sons life don’t let anyone change you. You are exactly who you should be and have a big purpose even though you may not know it or realize it. Hang in there.

@@mss3834 I hope you know how much it means that your love for your son has no conditions, and I'm so sorry for your immeasurable loss. I join you in blaming the Oaks of the world and the language of BYU and the church in denouncing so harshly a core and inseparable part of God's children. If there truly is a Heavenly Father, I highly doubt that he agrees with how the church treats His LGBT children. If He made them, then they are made the way He wanted them to be. I can't imagine the loss and anger you've been forced by the church to pass through. Hang in there, don't blame yourself, and hold those responsible accountable.

Why leave organized religion when I can hijack it. I still believe in Jesus, AND I'm gay. That's because all the people in religion who are against it are wrong about religion, my own religion
