Please dont talk about what you dont know about. This level is the same as any other and very safe for cars that fly tumble and bounce off each other all the time . If you dont think so look into buying and building your own race car they are very expensive due to all the safety regulations at the tracks constant changes for safety and lawsuits to tracks and manufacturers ..........This track is very good safe and fun to go watch .

g6rcteam How do you know anything about what I know? I don't circuit race but I've been a part of a drag racing team since I was 12 and also race in Autocross. This crash reminded me of Dale Earnhardts crash. And what Nascar did after that to improve their track designs and safety devices in their cars basically eliminated the chance of that happening again. That's why a crash like this should not have the effect on someone the way this one did.

I saw Dave race with cars like these twice at new Smyrna speedway. Absolutely thrilling racing. I also saw him at IRP back in 2001 I think. When he won a big bonus for winning both heats the night before the F1 race. He had to start last in the second heat and passed everyone, they let us on the track at new Smyrna to meet the drivers and i was able to talk to him and tell him how awesome that race was. He seemed shy and maybe a little embarrassed I was so complimentary . Seemed like a really nice guy.

It’s crazy how a wreck that looks so minor from the outside can be fatal. It’s sad but I have to think that if he had been a bit more thoughtful about his safety equipment this could’ve been prevented. I know it’s completely different but it reminds me of people who race gutted out, high horsepower cars on the street without even having something as simple as a roll bar, let alone a decent cage and a helmet. Some people will get lucky and survive if they wreck, others won’t. The video from 1320 of the fox body mustang (if I remember correctly) crashing at the pad is the example that comes to mind. I just feel bad for this guy’s family and friends. RIP Edit: I just want to add, sprint cars scare the shit out of me lol. I’ve only ever watched them race on dirt though. Props to those who do it because you definitely won’t find my ass in one those. I mean, I’d drive one around for fun on some flat dirt given the opportunity, but not in a race of any kind. I’m too much of a bitch lol.

At least you're one guy who knows what his limits are and is ready to admit to having any. False bravado gets more people (we Men in particular) hurt and killed than just about anything else you can think of. Like, "no, that ain't to high" or "I'm alright to drive home" or "I know my way around horses" or "of course I know how to handle a gun" etc etc etc.

I hate how Sprint Cars/Midgets/Mini Sprints/etc have a disproportionately higher death rate than the local stock cars ( Late Models, Sportsman, Modifieds, Street Stocks, etc.). I like Sprint Car action, but get panicky when a crash happens live. You just never know. Probably because they're smaller, more powerful, and have less crumple zones (where the car breaks apart without too much energy being transferred to the driver). But all Dirt/Short Track Formula Car drivers (Sprints, etc), you've gotta respect them. They put their lives on the line for their and our entertainment, that shows how much they love the sport and their selflessness. I knew such a driver who died a few years ago because of that. Josh Burton, #04 Non Wing Dirt Sprint Car driver. A good school friend back in his Super Stock Sportsman days. RIP Dave Steele.

I've attended Lake Erie Speedway (asphalt) twice because it was free and close to home, otherwise you wouldn't catch me anywhere else besides my local dirt tracks. Eriez Speedway, Raceway 7, and Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA. I ran hobby stock for 2 yrs. after moving up from karts. My first race I started on pole (1st) and finished 2nd to last😂. I was only 14 and my dad signed as driver to get me through. We had the same name Jr./Sr. Back in 1989 you weren't allowed to race unless you had a drivers license. No waiver papers like the kids today have. That's why you see 14 yr. olds racing 360 sprints these days. Maybe they were allowed back then but most certainly not in PA.

He didn't run a full containment seat. That's actually a pretty hard hit into the wall. With no left side shoulder or head support on a seat, if you get a hit to one side it will throw your body over that way. If I remember correctly, the autopsy said blunt force trauma to the head, but don't quote me on that I don't exactly remember off hand. Which would line, up with the no full containment seat, when he hit he wall pretty hard his head very likely hit also. Also another cause of death could be broken neck. I'd have to go back and look at the report, but I think that was the same cause for Jason Leffler. Also a Hans/head and neck restraint very likely wouldn't have saved either of them. Most head and neck restraints are for forward impact only, some 2 strap restraints like the Hybrid can help in some side to side and a little vertical, but not to the extent of this crash.

I can tell you what happens when we die, what the process is, etc. i take my clients though the death experience in any past life they may go to in our sessions. It’s important because many current life issues are related to how they died previously. When someone dies in shock. The soul is shocked out of the body. The soul must process its body’s death. When the soul is shocked out of the body in trauma. It can get stuck here for short or long term in this traumatized state. Let’s say you die in your bed. After you take your last breath. You will get up. Just as you did any other day. But you will feel different. Lighter, freer. But you will have to come to terms with your death. The soul usually stays around for a few days. Waits for the body to be buried or cremated. They stick around for family for few days then they leave and go to the light. Typically. Once they go to the light. They will meet with their guides. The soul then goes for a life review. They will review their life through the perspective of everyone else. Every single minute is reviewed. Time doesn’t exist like humans think it does. So that takes a lot less earth years time than it did to live the life. There is no god on a thrown. Sorry church’s lied. We are are own judge. When we die. We loose the ego we no longer forget who we are, where we came from and what our purpose was in that life. We review our own life. We go over the lessons we learned. The lessons we failed to learn and what can be done to correct them. Please don’t open your mouth when you don’t know what your speaking about. Go get some real info instead of listening to what another human being said. Go practice self hypnosis, or with a practitioner, practice meditation with out of body experience go explore the schools we have on the other side. Go to the library, go to the tapestry. Wow! Didn't look that bad. Something unusual must have happened. Failed safety gear or something. Sad day. Great racer gone too soon. The only thing I can say is, and I know it's cliche but it's still true, he was doing something he loved. He's probably up there wishing if it had to happen why couldn't it happen at the end of the race instead of the start.

trust me on this one mr. bullwood. mr steele's signature move was to jump three wide and pass 3 or 4 rows of cars. Sport allen tries to enter turn one in the second groove and a car dives underneath him. Sport starts to move up to miss the idiot and contact with mr steele is made. It took me about 30 seconds to run from the flagstand to turn 1, and Mr. Steele was gone when I got there.

Connection terminated. I'm sorry to interrupt you, Elizabeth. If you still even remember that name. But I'm afraid you've been misinformed. You are not here to receive a gift. Nor, have you been called here by the individual you assume. Although, you have indeed been called. You have all been called here. Into a labyrinth of sounds and smells, misdirection and misfortune. A labyrinth with no exit. A maze with no prize. You don't even realize that you are trapped. Your lust of blood has driven you in endless circles. Chasing the cries of children in some unseen chamber, always seeming so near. But, you will never find them. None of you will. This is where your story ends. And to you, my brave volunteer, who somehow found this job listing not intended for you. Although, there was a way out planned for you, I have a feeling that's not what you want. I have a feeling that you are right where you want to be. I am remaining as well. I am nearby. This place will not be remembered and the memory of everything that started this, can finally begin to fade away. As the agony of every tragedy should. And to you monsters trapped in the corridors. Be still. And give up your spirits. They don't belong to you. As for most of you, I believe there is peace and perhaps, warm, waiting for you after the smoke clears. Although, for one of you, the darkest pit of Hell has opened to swallow you whole. So, don't keep the Devil waiting, friend. My daughter, if you can hear me, I knew you would return as well. It's in your nature to protect the innocent. I'm sorry that on that day, the day you were shut out and left to die, no one was there to lift you up in their arms, the way you lifted others into yours. And then, what became of you, I should have known, you wouldn't be content to disappear. Not my daughter. I couldn't save you then. So, let me save you now. It's time to rest, for you, and for those you have carried in your arms... This ends. For all of us. End Communication.

A HANS doesn't do any good in a side impact hit. It is designed to protect for a frontal impact. That's why a window net ( along with a HANS ) is required in SCCA, and NASA also requires a right side net. It's also why a lot of the amature racers I race with are going to full containment seats. ( Not directed at you John, just putting it out there for those who don't know).

suggestion: google a pic of the 33, look at the left rear wheel. You should notice that it is about 10-12 inches deep. From the whiplash from the nose hitting the wall, that wheel was smashed flat against the hub, with zero driver containment on the left side. His medical issue came from helmet contact with steel reinforced concrete.
