Me neither. As a server, I once had at least 3 of my tables point out that adult film star Buck Angel was sitting at the counter, and he's pretty niche. But Dave Rubin? No way. P.S. Buck Angel was incredibly charming and kind, btw. He was in town all that weekend for a local Humane Society fundraiser, and I ended up waiting on him a couple more times since his hotel was across the street. He tips well, too.

I don’t think he had a fake document at all. I think he’s vaxed. He’s worried he would be recognized by someone at the restaurant and owned online, so he made up the rest of the story so that if it gets out his followers will be like, “no, that was fake. He’s really unvaxed”. It’s why the story is so poorly thought out through. It’s just about giving a little plausible deniability

It would be if the bribe was to cover up a crime, but just generally doing what could be seen as bribing just to stay quiet about something isn't against the law The case with Trump was that they conspired to write off the hush money payment (bribe) as a legal (attorney) payment rather than a campaign cost where I assume there would have needed to be more transparency over what the cost was for, whereas with the legal payment probably allows for more confidentiality with what the payment was for. The case was built upon the receipts that Donald Trump signed to the lawyer, which had an amount that looked like it was used to cover up the story, but since the story itself was bought off/hidden away to protect his optics while running for president at the time (corroborated by witnesses) it was clear that it was a campaign expense. The basic fraud was labelling it as a "legal" expense, the federal crime afterwards was added since it was done to hide the story from the public while running a campaign. That's my basic understanding of it anyways, that if they had labelled it as a campaign expense it would have been legal, it's just that people could have found out about it if they sifted through enough paperwork.

Emma’s right. Because the only other explanation is that Dave thought to himself, “Oh hey. People know I’m not vaccinated. So, I should walk up to three tables & assure them I’m unvaxxed while spit-talking all over them and their food. That’ll put them at ease.” Dave is dumb. But he can’t possibly be that dumb.

I also think what the guys were saying with Rubin not being a true believer. I do think he does believe vaccines and masks work. As well as other things like that global warming is real and the politics of the right is terrible for minority rights, wealth inequality and systems are unjust etc. He just doesn’t care. He wants the big bucks and perhaps he wants to be seen as a intellectual even when the people he’s pandering to mostly think his love of another man and raising a child together is an abomination. Tim Pool to a lesser extent I think is probably similar in some ways. You can’t know but I do think some folks deep down know they aren’t very talented to make a career out of doing this type of content on politics broadly or on the left and know that the right is a much easier job that requires zero effort except for keeping up with the culture war talking points. They don’t need to worry about fact checking, reading and researching or even developing a likeable personality. The right is simple in many ways and I think that’s the main reason they sell themselves out so hard. Maybe there’s also a lot of bitter resentment that helps drive them and keeps them from self reflecting on the despicable choices they’ve made. 🤷‍♂️

There's probably a tiny bit of truth to it. Went to the restaurant which asked for vax card. Got paranoid when he saw people looked at him. Made up this dumb story and finally told it.

I remember Dave being asked in interviews if he's vaxxed and instead of saying "no", he would act like that's an extremely personal, inappropriate question. Dude was totally vaxxed on day 1 and then had to backtrack because his fanbase is firmly against it

I don't think Brand blinked even once. He was eyeing Rubin like a carnivore. I despise both of them.

Yeah, was going to say ... The fighting had started in Apr of 1775, and Britain had declared the American colonies to be in a state of rebellion by Aug of 1775. 1776 was the Declaration of Independence.

Businesses absolutely allowed people to endanger their staff by not checking cards or enforcing the mask mandate. I experienced it first-hand. I literally quit because another employee tested positive, was not vaccinated, did not wear a mask, and we did not use sterilizing cleaning supplies… and when I was hired I specifically asked about COVID precautions and I was outright lied to. I disclosed my autoimmune illness after I was hired and still not changes were made. They told me everyone was vaxxed and they wore masks. Oh and we did not notify anyone. Nor did we close or clean surfaces.. I did. Voluntarily. It was probably the first time ever the phones were wiped down. I surely did spend $200 for a rapid.

In the case of Rubin bold-face lying, the jury is allowed a 4-4-4 split between the 3 scumbag methods to decide guilt 😂😂😂

As someone with a depressive disorder, I can say I seem to project my exaggeratted self-loathing onto others, often believing others think way less of me than they actually do.

I usually take solace in realizing that no one cares. But at other times I'm a little jealous of narcissists like Dave and Brand who think everyone does. You're alright friend.

I don't think I have a depressive disorder but I'm always of thinking of why people don't like me. Usually based off of actual reasons but, I'm probably doing the same kind of things at other times with people that have given me no reason to do so.

The flaw in the Dave-is-lying theory is that it discounts the fact that Dave IS in fact stupid enough to actually walk up to people in a restaurant like he claims.

I feel sorry for his neighbors. We had a neighbor like this who would just interject himself every time he saw you out in your front yard. My husband would see him coming and would run back into the house. Otherwise, it was a half hour of inane conversation, mainly about conservative politics and his religion. One time, he had the nerve to just walk into our backyard when we were having our septic tank pumped out just to see what was going on. In no way did we have a relationship that justified that kind of behavior. Some people just want to force their "I just want to be friends" mindset, even when you're not interested.
