Dave Mirra FIRST Double Backflip in Competition May, 2000
Спорт
On my way moving west to California from Orlando, I stopped by Raleigh, NC for the CFB round 2 at Utopia skatepark.
Rumor had it, Dave wanted to fire out a double backflip (first ever in a contest).
Well, here it is, as it transpired.
This is the definition of camaraderie.
We miss you Dave.

This was the best generation of BMX. Tons of never been done tricks. A bunch of dudes kids could look up to. Nowadays you got guys doing drugs and partying in their videos and that's what kids these days are seeing. Ya they're good but I'd rather see BMX from this Era than a triple whip to late bar backflip.

Lol exactly how I feel. Gave me chills still. This was bmx to me back then not to much trickery just huge air and huge smooth tricks

@@neonnerd1364 I get what you mean, but definately not all of them. Rwilly for example is all good vibes. Just watched his video on the worlds' second ever quad flip on bmx. Then I looked up this video for nostalgia and to think about how everything has developed

Kinda fucked up seeing it now knowing he ended committing suicide...
R.i.p. Colin and Dave. You are missed...
Damn, every single legend in the same room.
Much Love Dave, thank you for showing my generation real BMX!
Damn man this dude was the tony hawk of bmx,im from brooklyn and as a kid he made me learn how to do certain tricks etc.r.i.p you are missed mirra
Everyone congratulated Dave but as soon as he seen Colin and Colin got to Dave, they gave each other a real loved gripping hug. Truly beautiful. RIP DAVE AND COLIN. Colin let me witness a lot of crazy things on and off the bike. Two true stuntmen.

You were indeed lucky to experience Colin in real time. The dude was one of a kind, in the best way.
Moments in history at Utopia. Thanks for sharing this gem.
Damm what a legend. Just blasting that box jump!!
Love the end with Van listening to Dave with the mouth wide open! 😂😂😂 thanks for all this videos, man! Love em! 🤘🏻🇨🇱✌🏻
Thank you for the video- I was a 14 yo kid watching from the floor crowd, this was insane- better yet was how kind and welcoming Nyquist and the pros were to little park rats like me, getting in the way all week.

Real pro's, Nyquist is the man
The landing on the second attempt was so friggin' smooth.
Sad I missed this. I was living here then too! Nyquist, Laird, Mirra, I bet that was an amazing show. Damn and there's Winkelman too.
I'm more impressed by how smooth he is that the backflip. Although the backflip is amazing no doubt. He's just so good. It's all the little things. His conservation of energy, the angle he comes back in at. The way he transfers his weight around. He's truly a master. Watching him is like watching one of these 70 yo Korean 9th degree Taekwondo guys or Moscow ballerina or something.. He's just so technically proficient. I
Mirra is for me the best rider ever.
Thanks alot Mavro!! I'll never get tired of the footage you post!!!
This is why I watch x games to this day and appreciate all the young kids and pact crowds
Man I miss those days
Miss you Dave wish you were still here but your spirit lives on thanks for making my childhood one for the books!! 😇🙏💯
That was an amazing moment from an amazing guy. Rip Dave, you will never be forgotten.
Super cool. Thanks Mavro!
Just amazing!
Mirra will always be missed, I also salute Randy Taylor we would pray to see the v-club at the parks here in Texas.
My childhood hero

Dave was a legend
Mirra was a true legend and CHAMPION of BMX. He probably should have stayed away from that channel that used to play music videos.
One of the all time greats. Fact. RIP Dave. Sadly missed. Just an absolute amazing rider.
Thank you you guys. Bmx old. School. 4 ever
Dave really was something special!
Guys a legend 💪🏽
Rip. always cry ffs miss you dave 😭
Thank you for this ❤️❤️
🌹♥️ R.I.P. Master
Jeez, that moment when he and Colin are hugging...tough to watch now. Also, it’s insane to realize that the Van Homan in this video was known, but Criminal Mischief wasn’t out yet.

This is that exact time period where he starts putting in all that work for Criminal Mischief, so word was getting around of all the wild new street stuff he was doing during that period. I mean his part in that video arguably changed bmx forever, its the start of modern street riding in a lot of ways.
Dude I miss Mirra. The dude was such a legend.
What a cool cool video
Met him the night before because a buddy of mine invited me, knew I liked biking, was into mountain at the time. Missed this day but remember seeing his super grainy video when he got back to campus.
RIP Dave Mirra the legend! He lived more in his short time than 99% of people will in an entire lifetime.
Great moment captured. Thank you for uploading. I do wonder if Laird feels bad about making Mirra bail the flair.
