Lyrics:
There must be some way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion
I can't get no relief
Business men they
Drink my wine
There plowmen dig my earth
None of them along the line
Know what any of it's worth
No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I we've been through all that, yes we have
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour is getting late
And all along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women all the women all the women came and went
Barefoot servants too
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl, la la la
Two riders, two riders approaching
The wind began to howl
The thief he take
My money take
The thief he take
My money take
Am I insane
Auf wiedersehen
Am I insane
The thief is safe
No reason to get excited

Call me what you want, but DMB’s cover of the song is the best version I’ve heard. Jimi’s was amazing and is a seminal piece of rock history and Dylan’s has a haunting foreboding to it, but this version captures the essence of the lyrics and its build up to confrontation in a way no one else has. Between the buildup and the actual howling and the musical proficiency and then the explosion of sound, it’s the most powerful, goosebump-inducing version I’ve ever heard.

Unfortunately Leroi Moore passed away & Boyd Tinsley is no longer with the band. This was one of DMB's greatest live performances ever 💯 👍🏻 They will never be this good ever again !!!
So killer…it was pouring rain most of the show if I remember correctly ha..it was one of the best sit ins I’ve seen with them surprise valley with Jo Jo and winwood on keys was unforgettable
I just started a new job as a security guard today and some how me and one of my coworkers got on the topic of music and he recommended that I listen to DMB and man I’m so mad at myself for not finding out about them earlier. I love how each instrument gets there own time to shine, the energy Dave gives when he’s singing, and the overall feeling I got when I started listening to the song, truly a great bunch of musicians. Ok...some of this sounds Bot-ish... You never heard this band? 25 yrs touring...One of the most successful touring Bands, World Wide, a Modern Day Grateful Dead??? And you never heard of this band??? Doesn't sound believable and the person who (supposedly) claiming DMB is on par with The Beatles is outta they're mind... Come on, The Beatles changed music and Culture...I've been a DMB fan for almost 30 yrs... The Dave Matthews Band is great, incredibly talented...seen them live but comparing them to The Beatles is a bit ridiculous... 2 different bands... DMB is about The Tour...they kill on the Studio also...amazing stuff... The Beatles, just studio work alone leaves no comparison.... Touring??? see how that started a phenomena... Dave packs a house...remember also he's doing it in the 90s... The 60s had none of the sound tech to get a Beatle show down...ever hear a Beatles Show live??? You cant....lol Fenton wasn't born yet when they still touring when The Fab 4 were touring so saying DMB is as good or better than The Beatles us absurd... Best album(s) DMB: BTCS UTTAD CRASH The Beatles: Rubber Soul Revolver Let It Be I haven't counted Sgt. Pepper in There. Lol.. Songs on those Albums changed how music was recorded... Instruments never used in Pop Music were introduced popular music. Sitar Harpsichord Hip Hop, Sampling started during this run of albums...Beatles did it 1st... The Term World Music begins with The Beatles... Oh yea, they were 1st to perform via Sattelite across The World... And "just wrote" a song for it, "All You Need Is Love" Ok, now DMB.... Amazing Tour Band. Great Songs of great albums but nowhere on par with The Beatles... Dave's a Beatles fan...became a musician inspired by The Beatles music... I rest my case. Kinda disappointed he did a Fetterman rally...lol Guess now he now approves of Fracking also...🤣🤣🤣

Where has all the music gone? Television Children Fed. Blowing in the wind...... those were the days my friend I thought they'd never end. Thank you DMB
This is the definition of musical perfection.
Incomparable. Seriously, this rendition has no compare! The bass, the sax and, sorry - not sorry, the fiddle is unbelievable! Thank you Bob Dylan and Dave & Friends for this perfection!
My fave part of this jam is the violinist getting right into the funk of it all.

@@pacerodi Definitely those are more than amazing as well, and I enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed this performance by Dave. Everyone has done an outstanding job using their particular way of project and communicate this branch of the art. Moreover, Which is my personal insight, I think this performance has been one of the best, not only the cover, the song or who was the original, it just the energy and the flow that sometimes only a few can reach; and in this case Dave was one of those. Thank you for your comment!

Yes, the song itself has such an eerie feel to it, the Jimi took it to another level, then this takes to yet another one. It's mystical, something no artist can really make happen on their own. It's a gift, that's the best way I can put it. Always effects me the same way, no matter how many times I hear it or who does it. Particularly now, with everything that has gone on in NYC, and the world. The Great Spirit gave us this one. I'm sure of it.
Stefan Lessard on the bass guitar 🔥 One of the best low key bass performances

So hoping that the world realizes the mighty healing power of music we all need ESPECIALLY during these times! Would love to be able to FEEL this magic with my son for his first concert this summer. The love and light in me recognizes and honors the love and light within you.
What an amazing journey this band has been on. They've become true masters of their craft and are deservingly celebrated around the world. Thank you to the band for all the great memories! Here's to many more.
the drumming in this is mind bending
What a rare and amazing thing it is to see a band grow and hone their skills over the years. If you watch their performance from Woodstock 99 of this song, you'll clearly see the dedication and commitment they've made to their craft, and this song in particular. Amazing.

I wasn't a DMB fan until I watched this concert. Wow!
They are so tight in their performance...just the best!! To be there live would have been unforgettable forever!!
I much prefer playing lead guitar myself, although I’m not anything special. But man, if I had a band this tight I would be completely ok with playing Am- G- F for 10 minutes straight while they tear it up. What a jam!
