Dave Gibbons Biographical Interview 2024 by Alex Grand & Mike Alderman

Ойын-сауық

My book, Understanding Superhero Comic Books available at a.co/d/iIE3fWH .
Comic Book Historians & Patriot Comics' David Gibbons interview by Alex Grand and Mike Alderman, delves into Gibbons' self-taught art career, transition from surveying to comics through 'Fantasy Advertiser,' and early influences from DC Comics. He discusses his beginnings in underground comics, contributions to horror and action genres, and his style's evolution through '2000AD' and 'Dan Dare.' The talk highlights his notable collaborations, including with Alan Moore on Superman and the creation of 'Watchmen,' why they stopped talking, and his journey to becoming an Eisner Award-winning artist for 'The Originals.' Gibbons also shares insights on being the UK's first Comics Laureate, his foray into video game design, adapting to digital media, and advice for aspiring comic artists.

Will you ever do an interview with Jose Garcia-Lopez? It would be cool to hear him compare the Argentine and American comic industries

I just cannot agree to Dave`s assertion that `Dr Who` comic strips before Marvel`s `Dr Who` weekly (1979) were not up to much. For myself and many more `Dr Who comic strip` readers; the strip produced by `Countdown-TV Action` 1971-74 featuring the Third Doctor is still the best to today.

What's the point of adding animation and sounds to a comic book? We've got already movies, animation and video games for that! How about trying to exploit the comic medium properly?
