Dave Fenley - "Help Me Hold On" by Travis Tritt (Cover)
#TravisTritt #helpmeholdon #thevoice #davefenley #teamblake #nbc #nbcthevoice
Lyrics:
Baby, close that suitcase you've been packin'
Just sit down and talk to me awhile
I know you tried to tell me what was lackin'
But I guess I must've missed it by a mile
Well this time girl I swear to you I'll listen
Help me understand where I went wrong
It's hard to find myself in this position
Scared that I'll go crazy once you're gone
Help me hold on to what we had
Once our love was strong, it can be again
You said it takes two to make love last
You were right all along, so help me hold on
What have I got to do to make it better
What have I got to do to make you see
That even though I promised you forever
I never knew how hard that would be
I realize I took your love for granted
But I've learned that love worth havin' don't come free
And I'll pay any price it takes to keep you
Satisfied and stayin' here with me
Help me hold on to what we had
Once our love was strong, it can be again
You said it takes two to make love last
You were right all along, so help me hold on
Help me hold on to what we had
Once our love was strong, it can be again
You said it takes two to make love last
You were right all along, so help me hold on
You were right all along, so help me hold on

This song made my Grandpaw cry. I decided I’d take time to be with him. He’s my last grandparent. We went driving down ole Hwy 13 south. Had you playing on the radio. This song came up and he bursted into tears. When I asked if he was okay he told me he used to sing this to Mawmaw before she passed. I never knew before then. I appreciate you man. You helped me grow closer to my family.

i feel kinda ashamed to say this in regards of your ol´ paps.. but somehow i can relate. i'm in my mid 20's and i lost my love twice. but we're both alive. after the first time, i showed her this song and in between every argument that i caused, i remembered her of this song or sang it to her. however, i figured out a way to lose this beautiful young woman. we broke up last pre-summer. she has a new boyfriend for the first time since nearly 10 years, except me. everytime that i feel bad and want to cry, i come here, listen and think of her.

Keep fighting bud a lot of people give up to easy when it gets tough. But a marriage definitely takes two to make it work. My wife and I went through a rough time we pretty much called it quits and went our separate way for a bit. We never went through with the divorce. We reconnected and worked things out that was 9 years ago and we are still going strong. It’s not always over sometimes you gotta start over.

I would like to start of by giving God all the Praise and Glory and for his Love and Mercy. I want to take this time and opportunity to tell to my Wife Lissy the most beautiful with her puffy curly hair with those seductive green eyes that seduced me and caught my attention like a magnet. Mami you are true blessing in my Life and mines it was unexpected how things happened between us we are true testimony of a blessing in disguise. The Man Above makes no mistakes God selected you for me. We are completely the opposite and come different backgrounds, different worlds and how we were both raised. God says his never late he always comes on time. When we started we were just getting our feet wet in a month in half of Sept of 2018 we both were dealing with our own personal past experiences when life hits you hard. On Oct of 2018 she had to leave for a period of six months. In that time we both were put to the test. This journey and every experience with you Lissy has been unexpected ups and downs as a couple. It has been very difficult very challenging. In this relationship just like any other couples have arguments, disagreements, say things that will hurt your significant other etc etc. Lissy Mami mi Chiquita i want to take this time God as my witness to own to my mistakes, my flaws, my imperfections that i have hurt you no excuses but it takes a Man to do something about it since the beginning since day one i have been down with you through the good and bad moments. We have worked and continued with this commitment that i want to grow old with you and build because im a Man work in progress im thankful to God and to my wife she is the type that you get once in a life time. Mami you are worth every struggle, your worth every argument, your worth fighting for, your the reason i dont give up and I'm here for you every step of way. I don't regret any of this wouldn't change it for anything in this world. I bless my relationship i bless my marriage all my family all my kids our household and we ask Lord for all the people who dont have jobs or families that dont have food God you will provide. I ask for all the men and women who are serving maximum sentencing or doing Life in prison federal or state to give them peace. Bless our enemies and bless all those who have lost a love one to give the strength and the courage to continue. I declare and i confess all the favors and all the benefits in our favor i declare Victory you are our provider our protector our Lord and Savior in Jesus name AMEN.

Travis Tritt has always been a favorite of mine, and to hear a cover that actually sounds just as good as the original is a country blessing this day and age. I have heard this song by Travis Tritt many, many times, but I find it peaceful when you find a song that fits in your specific life moment. I had recently discovered my wife was having an affair and my marriage was on the ropes, after 7 years of being married. I found forgiveness and hope when I discovered your voice out of nowhere and then I couldn’t turn it off. I have listened to your version over and over again, and with prayer and your musical touch, I have found peace again. I thank you for the gift God gave you and the timing I discovered it. Bless you and thank you.

I remember sitting by the fire listening to my brother play his guitar when I was a child.. after my parents passed away everything was lost it took me 20 years to get to where I'm at now .. to be able to sit and listen to a guitar was mom's favorite thing to do she said a man who can play an instrument is a happy one.. when I started into this world I left with an old Gibson and along my travels it was lost in a drug/ rage fueled firey accident (rolled a car) I barely survived.. when I awoke my brother was beside my hospital bed with his trusty 12 string all he had to say is you can be forgiven and the pain will go away someday ... after that night I went 3 years without a guitar almost driven to suicide because of probation and my living situation paying for all my wrongs had become too heavy and the woman I am with found me lost and tired we married the same year and the very next Christmas a Silvertone with a broken neck was found lovingly placed against my door with a letter that only said merry Christmas may I abide with you?. I played that Silvertone every night at least an hour and every break I had I picked it up it had come at a time when we had nothing but the love between us.. as life went on the Silvertone finally broke due to its age and the fact it was tired irreparable . I went a stint of a year without a guitar and the wife said you deserve a fender.. to this day I am reminded no matter how hard life gets no matter how much money you owe or if it's your last day on earth learn to sit down and close your eyes and listen.. it is amazing how just the sound from a broken necked Silvertone brought Christmas alive without gifts.. waking up to the sound of a 12 string celebrates life and a Gibson helps a young man with nothing realize drugs are not the answer and a fender becomes the instrument in the language of love
