I knew ole Dave personally, he was loaded plum down with talent. I love his singing, banjo picking, and lots of good songs he wrote. He definitely didn't get the credit and the publicity that he deserved. I miss him, R.I.P. big Dave

Agree wholeheartedly with that. He did have some fame for his voice, but didn't get much credit at all for his banjo work. However, no one can come close to recreating his banjo playing. If you listen to anyone covering a Dave Evans original, it pales in comparison and doesn't have the same tone on the banjo. Dave's voice is in it's own league, no one will ever come close to being that good. Dave Evans is my favorite bluegrass musician of all time. I didn't know him personally, but met him many times and he was such a gracious and kind human. I love Dave Evans and miss him dearly.

@@andrewsparkman9368 no one can harmonize with their instrument like he did. Most singers will stop playing while they are singing. Dave didn't, he could play and sing at the same time. Wheater it's retham, or throwing pretty licks in as he's singing. Some people didn't catch that but, I did. Very, very talented

One of the greatest bluegrass soul singers ever! I heard him one night at Bean Blossom - the night before he played_ and he sat at the concessions and just played guitar and sang and told some stories. He had on black cowboy boots with silver metal tips on the toe which he tapped with his music on the asphalt. It sounded like a snare drum. He sang with such soul. One of the greatest performances I have ever seen and just a handful of people there. I'd give anything if I had a recorder there with me.

Dave was a pioneer in both his singing and banjo style. The day before he passed, I had been revisiting his music out of the blue. Almost like I knew but didn’t…

Great show. I saw him play 5 years earlier in Ohio. Yeah, Dave (1950-2017) was sort of a rough neck, but one heck of a bluesy banjo player and singer. R.I.P.

You sure missed out on a good one. He was as good, if not better than anyone they have on the Opry.
