First time I heard this song I was on my way from Los Angeles to San Diego... circa February, 1968. I was in the US Navy and my Great Aunt was dying of breast cancer.... I was riding a Greyhound Bus and this song started to play.... it's been one of my favorite songs most of my life. Sadly, my Great Aunt passed away shortly after my arrival in San Diego.....four months later, I received my orders for Swift Boats in Vietnam.... I remember thinking... if the breast cancer didn't kill my Aunt, these orders would have. Mark Bell

What lovely memories this song brings back! I was only a teenager then and still also watching Blue Peter. With their dream team of Valerie Singleton, John Noakes and Peter Purves. Not to be missed! And when Petra had two puppies, after a naming competition they called them Zebedee and Zabadak! After this song!❤

What?
This song hits my soul it’s so beautiful
Jejich písničky patří ke krásným chvílím mého mládí. Děkuji.
Probably the best single they made. Just played this on phone I'd forgotten all about , i all so have this on VHS tape. Now i have it on phone. In fact i love the 60s Happy Days. & the Music 70's aswell,? Sad to say Dave D. Is know longer with us. & may be some of the band members. God bless them all,
A great time to be young listening to music like this (i was 20 ) then.
Great memories, reminds me of a crazy kid at my school who used to walk around singing "Haveakak" then let off a loud fart. He's now a Senior Manager....don't suppose he does it these days.

A classic example as to why the British groups were the best of the 60's ( part of the British Invasion)

Meine Lieblingsband in meinen Jugendjahren... Obwohl ich kein Englisch kannte, aber für sie bin ich dahingeschmolzen und es ist heute noch schön sie zu hören ❤❤❤
Dozy ~ front man here (for a change) ~ RIP
First time I heard this song I was on my way from Los Angeles to San Diego... circa February, 1968. I was in the US Navy and my Great Aunt was dying of breast cancer.... I was riding a Greyhound Bus and this song started to play.... it's been one of my favorite songs most of my life. Sadly, my Great Aunt passed away shortly after my arrival in San Diego.....four months later, I received my orders for Swift Boats in Vietnam.... I remember thinking... if the breast cancer didn't kill my Aunt, these orders would have. Mark Bell

I see DD,D,M&T over 30 years ago do this number @ Blazers night club,Windsor,Berks,I was with my 1st GF ,reminds me of her now,not heard this since then.
As I recall this, Dave Dee had said "any rubbish can get into the charts now" and wrote this to prove it. One of my favourites though!!

I've always thought that Zabadak was one of the most imaginative and brilliant songs of the Sixties! To the haters out there: Relax, sit back, listen, enjoy, and let that repetitive Zabadak chant creep up and capture your spirit. It surely will! Shy, Shy, Skagalak!

Indeed ,the violins interlude is pure magic. Although I recognised it at the time as well produced pop, it's not till the 80's that I could bring myself to buy their greatest hits compilations. For a Stones an Pretty Things fanatic that's a huge step to take.Good music is just good music, that's all there's to it.

Bloody good tune
It means absolutely nothing it was a song to show that anyone could make a hit song as long as they had a good melody its been copied and it is still around after all these years just shows how much talent these early bands had rock on

This song gave birth to one of my favorite Japanese groups, named Zabadak
Fantastico 🤗👍😍😍😍
Think of the time. War in Vietnam, hundreds of thousands dying for no good reason. We needed this kind of entertainment. Words were irrelevant, all that mattered was a happy sound the we could hum, whistle, chant while we worked. Used to play this with my little group - never had a bad reception to it. Go ddbmt.
