@@4everascending511 , Wagner was a classical music composer. Very different genre to jazz. But great music has no definition or boundaries.
The sax player gets a huge smile on his face when he hears those familiar notes after Dave’s intro…….then he quickly realizes he’s gotta do that whole Paul Desmond thing. Atonal and all. Bravo.

I heard this song in my teens, I'm now 52 years old and it still gives me goosebumps !!!!
These men are not only great musicians, they seem to have a love for each other. They look at each other and smile to acknowledge their fellow musicians talent but to signify their talent. Dave is always smiling at then. Those were the good old times when musicians played without competing with each other. We will never see those days again.

Im a lot younger (42 years) lol.. yet, I still grew up listening to him, being introduced to jazz by my father who is now 70.. so I can say I was put on to some of the finest music and musicians ever at an early age.. I had to be around, like 5 or 6 or so.. so yeah, I literally grew up listening to really good music.. and appreciated it too!

I am here for all of them but especially for the drums. God bless all of their souls.
72 now. First heard this as bumper music on a local DJ’s show as a teen. It has been in the background music of my life since then, with occasional volume jumps to the foreground. It is my most favorite tune ever. ❤
I bet the sound crew was mixing for the live performance. So it probably sounds really good for the people in the room but they didn't record the audio in this video with the mics on stage.
U hear the music in those fuckin’ drums? That’s how your grandparents rolled...that honestly brought tears to my eyes at the end.
I will never get over the drums part. The way he moves his mouth as if he's mimicking the sounds. Love it
After a lifetime of Dave Brubeck and his band making this piece better and better I don't think the word 'masterspiece' is big enough to praise their outstanding work of art. Thank you so much for sharing!
Paul Desmond the best forever
Paul Desmond!
I've seen live performances by Brubeck and company, and to this day, they remain the only musical appearances I've attended which young children enjoyed the performance, and did not get 'fidgety'.....
I‘m „just“ 38 years of age but I fell in love with this song the very first time I listened to it. It got stuck although at the time I had no idea who wrote or played it. Don‘t know how old I was (maybe 16) but if I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life (doesn‘t matter if constantly or only when I want) I would definitely choose Take Five! It gets me every time! If I‘m down it lifts me up. If I‘m up it takes me even higher. I don‘t know what exactly it is but for me it‘s just the perfect piece of art. Though I prefer the original recording over this one tbh.
If only I can hear him play the piano once more.
Masters of their craft. Innovators. This tune won’t go away. New and younger enthusiasts are hearing this for the first time. Timeless. Classic.
I Never ever get too tired of this number by the old pros . Just wish I could have taken the time to see them perform live.👌👍🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸😎
Brilliant intro from Dave. 😊 wonderful song!
What a great and classy drum solo.Randy jones ends it up like a hurricane.
I was at a company meeting few years ago and I think it was a in house quartet and by the time the dinner was done, I stayed back - the only person from the 200+ group - to listen to some good music. The quartet looks like they didn't had to go anywhere else that night and they playes about five more songs. I even asked if they can take a request and the only song I could think of was "Take Five." It was awesome. I still have the recording.
Definitivamente la música es el idioma universal. Trasciende fronteras sin importar raza o religión.
Just amazing to me is how Dave can make beautiful melodies, yet put some of *the* thickest chords under them! He just had a taste for doing stuff at the right time. Just fun to see this kind of impromptu concert! Thanks for all of the great memories, Dave and Co.! (This may be the first all-white band I've ever seen him have. Also, thank you, Dave, for insisting on having a person of color in your most influential years. You helped to break that wretched color line.)
Grandes hombres, música bajada del cielo a la tierra, gracias mil...
