I have never ever ever seen a reactor show such sincere emotion... EMPATHY, wow I have never scrolled to a subscribe button, hoping to be subscribed before ... that's how powerful this reaction was

Ban Powel 1. “Black, white and coloured” terms all invented by posh white dudes. Black people are brown skinned really. It was the Empire that named them that. 2. Remember there were dark skinned people, even Africans in Britain before the English. 3. Even if someone rocked up to UK tomorrow. There’s no excuse for racism even if it’s “less racist” than another country. 4. Your comment about people coming here with “ignorant ways”. Who are you talking about? Ignorance is without colour, or borders! There are plenty of ignorant English people I’m sure you agree. To deny that would be...well... ignorant wouldn’t it?

Jon, I've been a fan of hip hop since the 80s, I'm 53 now, I haven't watched the brits for decades but was told to watch this clip, it is the only track from the this genre of music to make me cry, I absolutely love your reaction and your words afterwards. ♡
after he said im done he gave a small smile.. i think he knew he just gave one of the best performances of all time...
I've watched Dave's performance several times now, and everytime I cry. I'm half Norwegian / Asian, but like you said, I have empathy. And the pain portrayed in this song is just too much.
Absolutely correct in the review. I was left absolutely amazed at Dave’s performance. Went on to look on the internet to see how much praise he was going to get then 90% of articles titled. “Dave calls Boris Johnson racist” totally neglecting the rest of the song and all the points, grenfell, equal opportunity, and so on. All the positive points, honouring the London Bridge attack victims. But no one sees that. You’re absolutely right, no one even listens to his music then the majority of the reply’s are all negative from mainly the older, white, generation. Claiming attention seeking. Man shut up, it astounds me the absolute ignorance from people. Surely people cannot be that ignorant. But they are. Great review though. Restoring my faith a little at the population. The negative seems to be outweighing the positive in the media these days

Appreciate that Aaron. The media deals in hate clicks but I firmly believe there’s a lot of love in this country, but so many people aren’t interested in just talking
@aaronwijetunga

Jon Denton so true. So many people are just stuck in their own bubble at times and unwilling to be empathetic and look into something before commenting. They see the fine lining and choose to base their judgment off of that instead of allowing themselves to look for the full picture then base their judgments off that. The media hate baiting does not help, as so many people take main stream media as the undeniable truth. When in reality it’s just a single person or a small group of people’s opinions and their view coated in trying to make money. When the media do things for money and not for the love and good intentions of reporting. The whole nation gets plagued, especially the vast majority that are inclined to click on a negative article. Instead of seeing what an amazing person and artist Dave truly is. At only 21 years old.

Aaron Wijetunga Dont get me wrong a lot of What Dave says is right and almost all of it(if not all) but a lot of his stuff is confused with socio economic Class not race . I.e Equal Oppurtunity
@topgurl9313
4 жыл бұрын
@@pazthepole2814 Race and class can affect each other and also, people of different races can have different experiences even though they are in the same class. For example, let's look at being rich: a rich black person may experience being wealthy, in a different way than a rich white person. Maybe a racist doesn't see the black person as deserving their wealth or earning it in the "right way" and that might affect how they're treated. Now let's look at being poor: there have been studies (probably hundreds by now) showing that black people and white people with the same level of education and who come from a working class family, still aren't treated the same and that can affect how they're taught or disciplined at school, it can affect whether they get a job. Like if a black person or a white person commits robbery because of financial issues, it can affect whether they're hit with the toughest sentence or not, leading to... how long a parent's kept away from their kids compared to someone else? There's so many things, it's hard to wrap your head around all of it. Look up the word 'intersectionality' it's usually used for race and gender, but it also defines what I'm talking about here.

I shed a tear seeing Dave win AOTY. So thoroughly deserved. I am so happy I could be proud even though it's not my place. Followed him since his Blackbox, I've BEEN saying he will be the best of all time in the UK for about 3 years. It feels like everything reached its pinnacle last night. And yes Fraser T being there was amazing, and I feel like the first verse was slightly shakey, but he grew into it and built it up amazingly once Fraser T was there.

I'm proud of Dave too (despite not knowing him) Dave was raised in the same hometown as me. I like the idea that Dave represents my hometown in a positive way unlike the negative light it is often portrayed in
You vocalised a lot of what I feel about this track in your reaction. Dave is one of the most intelligent voices I've heard and this performance blew me away- musically, lyrically, his presence, the black and white staging and clothing, every level of it, even how it begins as him alone and slowly others join giving volume and extra impact to his voice. Dave was one of the people who helped me to realise those of us from white backgrounds need to acknowledge that we are racist, we are going to be, we have grown up in a structure of racism- perhaps not one of active hate but a society grown from racist institutions that still have an insidious legacy in ways we don't realise because we don't experience it. We have to stop avoiding the word racism because most of us are guilty of it even when we absolutely would not wish to be. The only way to change that is to suspend our own perspective and embrace someone else's. Dave when he is communicating a message really shines as an artist for me and I really appreciate the honesty of your reaction.

Much love for this reaction brother, you’re a real one
Respect for highlighting the clearly intentional race and generational contrast between Dave and the other pianist, something I'd not noticed until you mentioned it, but does make a lot of sense and solidifies his message of true equality. Not just in this song, but across all of his music. Dave is the TRUTH!

Powerful performance from Dave, He could of performed another song from his catalogue but the fact he chose this piece on the platform given was commendable. 👍🏽
He smashed it, I was choked. This is so relevant after the George Floyd sadness. I been taken by the black lives matter movement and truly believe there is a change coming at last. I don't normally watch these respond videos but I had to find out what our American friends reacted to Dave, you can guess what the response was. I won't won't be surprised if Dave smashes it over there. Thanks for sharing your own comments and I totally relate to the emotion.
