People very often tend to forget that there's more to an artist than just sounding great. Daughtry took an existing song, put his voice in it, and nothing more. It takes A LOT to make a GOOD song from scratch. It's so easy for people to say "Daughtry's version is better", but the coverer does 5% of the work, and still get ranked above the original artist.

Evanescence is my favorite band and I didn't think anyone could even hope to adequately cover this song but Chris hit it out of the park and tore the leather off the ball! I'm not shocked by this though. Chris Daughtry is by far the best male vocalist in the industry. Not an opinion, straight up fact!

@@jagalasso agree he killed it by ruining it, the vocals are soo pitchy, the wrong key, even if he was making it his own, it should have a 2-octave shift, he is going 1 and cracking his vocals, he missed the growls and didn't hold the pitch. so disappointed by such a great artist

I think his version is way better than Amy's. Chris' version doesn't have a dark spirit like Amy Lee's did. Instead it showed more of the internal struggle that Judas had

Yeah, I'm already excited about it.

Chris Daughtry is such an amazing singer, Jesus his vocals are out of this world-he truly sing from hardcore and lot of emotions.

As much as I love the Evanessence original, this version has so much raw emotion to it. You can hear the pain in his voice which makes it all hit just that little bit harder. He made a cleaner version of this for his album but this live version will always remain supreme in my opinion as it shows so much passion and makes you almost sympathize and feel sorry for him.

Even if you don't like the words of the songs, or his "style", you have to admit this man has a powerful voice, very talented.

Chris daughtry's version of this song still gives me chills. I love seeing singers who sing from the depths of their emotions. His performance made the role more realistic.

Yeah worst decision in the history of any of those kinds of shows. It all started when Simon was pissed off that he sang that Creed song.

This scene is so powerful, I can feel the tension and darkness Judas/Daughtry is having in this scene. The guilt and rationale is so powerful!!

I can't get over how amazing he sounds right now. I love his voice in general, but wow.

The meaning they put into these random songs is amazing. You can always find biblical meaning in everything... It makes so much sence for him to feel this way after betraying Jesus. Just wow.. ❤

Daughter has done an AMAZING performance! He made me look at Judas with an open mind, the struggles and agony of betrayal .

Chris is amazing!! He really needs to think about getting involved in a Broadway Musical, one that is emotionally fueled and passionate; much like how this Passion Play was. It really blew me away and felt his performance resonate in my heart. I was nearly brought to tears over his part as Judas...

This is one of the most tremendous portrayals of Judas, in my opinion. Daughtry was brilliant. The Passion is the wisest DVD purchase that I've ever made. xx

Not only is this a killer version, it fits the moment exceedingly well as Judas struggles with his schizophrenic self. I love how Daughtry drifts back and forth between the light and the dark in this video.

I just recently saw this musical and this song done by him stopped me cold. I felt this register deep into my soul. An awesome rendition of this song especially with the back story it is linked to.

He killed it! He did great. This is my new fav song! Hope the soundtrack comes out soon.

What I love about the passion is how they gave each of the characters more story to tell just by a song ( Example; Demons, With Arms Wide Open ) this song is one of my favorites and has been since I was in elementary school, I'm now going to be a senior in high school and love the song more than before. Now I just have a deeper appreciation for the song, I love Daughtry and aspire to be able to tell a story through song just like he can one day he is very talented.

Initially I ignored the song because of the mellower first half, but I was wrong. The singer has the vocal power to enhance the song.

almost every Judas was portrayed as angry and vindictive; however,for those who know the story, they should be asked: WHY DID HE KILL HIMSELF, if he was a? this portrayal clearly shows how torn apart Judas was, if not more so.

daughtry is awesome. i got to meet his mom, dad, brother, and grandma at one of his concerts. it was awesome.

I think the live version is more intense than the studio version. Absolutely amazing. One of the best male vocalist of today.

+Francois DuJour Unfortunately, only the songs performed in the "on stage" area were actually live. :( The fact that the scenes from the Jesus and disciple numbers were used in the previews and that during the video for the song Home there's an "earlier" sunset than where Tyler Perry was show this. I love how they used all the songs though. :)

Wow! I have always thought he was an amazing singer from day one! He is so underestimated as a singer. He has so much heart, soul and passion in his music. You can feel everything he puts into his music. He has gotten me through so many situations with his music. The actual music and lyrics are brilliant!

Didn't think a cover would come close to the original..... This one does. Daughtry is criminally underated.

Yes, his version is much better.

He sings the song with so much emotion that he actually made want to cry. I don't cry very much at all, so the fact that he almost brought me to tears says a lot.

Another job well done, Chris Daughtry has a magical voice. He can do almost anything with it.

I like this version better than the original. I think it's because I love Chris's voice and the old warehouse enhances it so well in this video. He killed it!!!!

My dad and mine favorite song to sing randomly is BMTL by Evanescence... they were my first band I ever listened to and my first song I ever did cover wise with my friends. Hearing this version from Daughtry? Specifically just him?? I’m blown away because he is an amazing artist. Yes originals are better but the song itself is about more than the artist. I love this version just as much as I love the original. He keeps surprising me every day and I love both bands equally ❤️❤️❤️
