Dating Tips for Today's Singles - Pastor Jonathan Pokluda & Lisa Anderson

Pastor Jonathan “JP” Pokluda and Lisa Anderson talk about how single Christians can pursue dating in a world where the rules of romance have changed. At a time when cohabitation is on the rise, they explain why it’s critical for single Christians to pursue dating God’s way. JP shares his testimony of how becoming a Christian completely changed the ways he approached dating. JP now encourages people to find someone with godly character when looking for a spouse. He also offers encouragement to parents of young adult children who are hoping to see their son or daughter get married.

It is very frustrating and out of touch with reality to assume "single people" in the church are all in their early 20's. There are many of us in 30s and 40s who are single, and the church is ignoring them. Small groups, events, and programming is always set up around one specific life path. Given how few christian men there are in many churches, there are many women struggling and single in 30s and 40s. The church and this organization seems to be ignoring them.

I got what you are saying, but you are part of the church, too! Why to wait on a pastor or some leaders to do something? They have much to do + they can't relate to the issue as much as you and me, who are singles? Why not to organize some programms on our own to connect christian singles? Cultural or sport activity? Or simply a prayer meeting? We did with my friend a picnic at a park. Almost zero preparing, just make an event on FB etc.🤷‍♀️ simple😊

Truth is that there are many Christians that at a certain age lose hope of ever getting married and that is a very difficult place to be in life. When you have no spouse no children and are single in the church you are very lonely. It seems that long term singleness is nothing more than a side issue in the church and Christians are really starting to see the effects of this but there is no big concern or movement to change anything. Christians being able to create marriages and families is foundational to a properly functioning society and I think the church has lost the ability to do this. There is a heavy price being paid for this situation in and outside the church , unfortunately to few people speaking up .

Dating ? What is that? Well I’m in my late 40’s and it doesn’t exist after 40 and especially if you’re a Christian.

17:55 " Dating like the world does it? really the enemy of marriage." Any books, podcasts ect that would be willing to expound on what this means? Isn't a relationship a relationship? How exactly does the church do it? anybody actually talk about that? Frustration!!! Church likes to to say don't do it like the world is doing it, but then are silent as to how where supposed to do it. Frustration!!!!

I’d recommend the book that they were mentioning, Outdated. Basically what they are saying is that dating the way the world does it causes people to seek their own interests and desires and to cycle through people until they find fulfillment. The church would say that marriage is a promise to never let your spouse go and to serve them even when they let you down in certain areas. Worldly dating focuses on outward beauty and emotional highs while Christian dating focuses on the two’s love of Christ and the steady commitment to one another. Hope this helps!

We as human beings have 2 options when it comes to relationships. These 2 options go all the way back to Adam and Eve concering the fruit. Either we do it God's way or my way. When deciding how you want to handle relationships, just remember Adam and Eves way cost them everything.
