The old net would destroy any new tech that touches it without consent! This was proven as given example netwatch and Bridgette with the rogue AI that's looks like Alt Cunningham. This I feel is more a matter of opinion....you ever play chess?

Definitely true. A lot of netrunners felt they had lost their previous freedom. And the establishment of Citinets allowed gangs, corps, etc to rule these networks how they wanted with no repercussions. Even when the I/G protocol net was opened back up, Netwatch had more control over it

@@JohnnySilverwrench The hell are you talking about? Bartmoss wanted a free net not a lack of it. What he did ensured that there were now only two ways this would end. The policed Net we have currently or the Dark Age where no one can use the net due to the rogue AIs.

It's entertaining how little Bartmoss ACTUALLY cares about his life. Even in his physical death, he just sent a Lil message to Spider. Then in the event of his complete death, he just had a ton of trolls prepared

@@LayedBackGamers I feel like this is a theme with Pondsmith's flagship characters for a Role, they embody the lifestyle of what it takes to be the best version of it in the extreme. Just like Blackhand is the definition of a Solo, a deadly Knight of the Streets, Bartmoss eschews everything that has to do with the meatverse to the point of being considered inhuman and weird by his peers.

So my theory on bartmoss hasn't changed. I believe alt,spider, and bartmoss are trying to end it all or take it over! Bartmoss uses the cats as eyes as we know Nibbles is a descendants of deathwish! Be really funny since the cat that seen multiple attempts and actual murders all surrounding main characters....things to consider! Yeah his physical old body is fried but as we know no one is who they say or seem...hell even Lizzy Wizzy husband wanted to decomish and "remake" her into his vision. The more you pay attention...

Bartmoss would have approved of the baby talking to your cat, it should have stayed in.

I'm really starting to think Bartmoss is going to play a bigger part in the story in the sequel. I'm wondering if maybe "he" could even be the voice we hear from the haunted weapons we get in Phantom Liberty, or at least something based on his conscience. I have nothing to back that up, of course. Just a suspicion. I think it's more likely than not he is still around in some shape or form on the Net. He felt more at home there than he did in the real world. Considering all the safe guards he placed in his physical location, it'd make sense he placed them in the Net as well. Of course, who knows if that body we find is even Bartmoss. Even R. Talsorian Games said in a tweet earlier this year we should maybe doubt the validity of that claim, reminding us Johnny isn't the most trustworthy narrator. Whatever the case, Bartmoss and Spider Murphy are my two favorite people to learn about from the lore. While playing Phantom Liberty there is one point when you're meeting with Hansen while disguised and his guys referred to his 2nd in command as Murphy. I about jumped outta my chair but then realized they were talking about a different Murphy. CDPR knew what they were doing to us there, lol.

I've honestly always felt like the body we found wasn't Bartmoss at all. The deck we pull off the body was old, sure, but no matter how high your level is, the daemon you pull off it is always a daemon we already knew about or even perhaps had ourselves. It's not new or different or unique, it's just some regular degular quickhack. Realizing that immediately made me suspicious that the corpse wasn't Bartmoss. With the Talsorian tweet factored in, it seems even more likely that Johnny's word is dubious and that the corpse likely isn't Rache. 🤨

​@@HOIIIYEAAsee this choom gets it....even if it was his body he had enough time to "soul killed" himself onto the net...yeah bartmoss wore parts of him thin that turned into rabbids, but I think there's enough data out there like Silverhand and Alt Cunningham that if brought back to the "original host" or a sustainable "replicant" that the data can be transferred over. Vs then wouldn't have a memory overload (like seen on Johnny Mnemonic) that could possibly save his/her life! Just theorizing here lol

Amazing to hear how one man changed the world. Definitely someone who fits into the Chaotic Neutral category.

I like how Somi calls him a paranoid clown, Bart would like it hell he'd construct an avatar that acts like Pennywise, cause the bastard if he were alive and present would probably be the only one capable of curing her without all the shady shit in the background. Hell I'd like to think Bartmoss probably knew the corporation would try to create their own net, which is where the blue eyed ones come in perhaps along the line the so called imaginary friends he's made all the way up to adult hood weren't all that schizophrenic at all; perhaps with his insane talent and how young he was, he just like V is a perfect vessel for whatever the hell the Net AI's actually are. Whether Bartmoss is dead or not the man's legacy is terrifying and the scariest implication is he could still be out there beyomd the Blackwall a copy of his engram? Who knows the guy was beyond a genius.

Characters like Bartmoss are the best to learn about. You see what kind of world he lives in, and you immediately start rooting for him. The Netrunner that gives the corps a run for their money. Sometimes literally. His beliefs and ideals are completely valid and true. Bartmoss may have a really good point. maybe power shouldn't be in the hands of large corps with no regards to humanitarian rights. But then that classic Cyberpunk narrative comes creeping in to twist things up. The guy you think is gonna change things around, well.... turns out he'd rather nuke the net than see it under anyone's rule. Bartmoss saw the corps as bullies throwing sand in the play pen. Bartmoss's plan was to flood the sandbox entirely so no one else could grab a fist of sand to sling. But in the end, the sandbox is fucked. Never to recover. And all parties involved aren't even at square one anymore. On one hand, he did what he set out to do and succeeded. Every secret exposed, every file open on the table. On the other, the next few decades are full of strife and chaos. A new wild AI hits the block, and most of the old world's knowledge is lost to the other side of the Blackwall. Was it worth it? And the answer is real ugly and jagged.

Well that depends on how you look at things, from a certain point of view…. In my opinion, I can understand Rache’s idea but I don’t agree.

Rache could still be an partial personality engram a shallow imprint not worthy of being called an AI a ghost hiding in the net…looking for a way to defragment itself. Perhaps it even found a way and it escaped to the old net.

Did anyone notice theres was more details into the Hellman convo?! How on like they wanted to upload the engram to a dead body it was already familiar with?! How did Saka find the unknown container then, unless its a replicant body?....If you didnt hear this replay that part and listen to all blue dialogue! If you mess up reload or ill have takemura give you buckets of water!

as far as i know the only part of the cybergeneration sourcebook that is confirmed to be retconned is the literal last paragraph of the last page or something like that, the rest is still canon.

Hmm, could it be that Rache planned the net to die with him? If he was as powerful as he got one can only wonder how far other runners could go with a full fledged net. Of course we get the motive of how he as an individual tried to overthrow the system in cyberpunk - we all know how that goes - but still, he made conflicts all the more personal, one could say all the more human.

I saw on another comment saying that he is the perfect fit for the “chaotic neutral” role and I agree I think he just didn’t care what was going to happen and wanted to make sure everyone knew he was the best and can do something no other net runner can do
