You just need to have some basic Database knowledge.

Very clear tutorial... Can anyone please explain on this topic? 1. In Erwin Data Modeler is that possible to display each subject area in separate view/display? Example: Let's say we have 4 Fact table and 10 Dimension table in the Erwin Data Model File. Now I want to see each fact table and associated dimension in one view/display with relationships. Something like this: Subject area 1(Display 1) = First Fact table with associated 4 dimension (Out of 10 dimension) Subject area 2(Display 2) = Second Fact table with associated 3-dimension (Out of 10 dimension) etc. (So that in one display we will not have all the facts and dimensions) 2. How to maintain version in Erwin Data Model file? Let's say yesterday there was changes in the data model file, and today we are making more changes in that file. Do we need to maintain the version by manually changing the file name with different name? Or is there any alternate option within the erwin tool. Please advise

I had a modelling question. For Reference Data that is reused across tables, would you recommend that we create Domains with validation rules to ensure only certain values are allowable? If yes, can we populate these domain table values in an automated way through a data migration interface? Also, could you explain how the user defined validation option works? Thank you.

Thanks , it is good. Suggestion. Try not to repeat the same thing many times. It is just a waist of time.

1. it is a very bad practice to include an entity/table name in attribute/column names, eg. student entity should have attributes name, dob... not student_name... 2. entity name should be always singular as it represents one instance of an object, entity name courses is incorrect, a table is a collection of entities and in this case the name should be plural, 3. foreign keys and/or surrogate keys should be created, and entity names should be changed form singular to plural automatically during transformation from ERD to DD, 4. what I do not like in Erwin tool is that you draw an entity as a rectangle with sharp corners, it should be rounded corners in logical/ER diagram, look at the Oracle data modeller, it makes it much better, unfortunately it works well with Oracle only, it can be used for other dbs as well but it is not working well sometimes
