Ойын-сауық

Quick video displaying dashbox wiring and connectivity with Realdash app. I'm very happy with this setup and would highly recommend.

    Yes, it's real time now. It's only delayed when the source is from bluetooth obd2 port, the issue is the ECU can't send the data fast enough, even if one would have the fastest/newest obd2 port reader. Dashbox module taps in to RPM signal on the gauge cluster and sends it real time (115200 baud rate)

    You're awesome! Thank you!! I got a question. My Turn signals rest on 12+ and trigger with ground. I can use a relay to switch but wanted to ask you if this unit takes both + and - signals? Should I use the analog pull up inputs?

    Thanks! turn signals for my car activate with 12+ but my seat belt, door ajar, high beam etc.. activate with 12- It's been a while when I set this up and don't want to mislead you, ping them on FB, they are quick to respond. facebook.com/sp.leinonen.9 I know I used a relay to change the polarity on something but can't recall what it was now.

    @@winreboot Yup I know this Most Japanese vehicles use negative trigger for lights etc. I installed many aftermarket alarms so I know. It's not a big deal to change the polarity I just wanted to ask. I ordered the Dashbox and its on the way. I went ahead and wired my vehicle ahead of time. Thanks so much for your reply buddy. I would love to show you my custom dash once all is done. Cheers!

    very good Is it possible to connect two devices to the tablet at the same time via Bluetooth? I mean OBD II and Dashbox? also when I use the ELM 327 Bluetooth I have a lag for the engine speed, where is the problem? Should I use the USB type? Will the log be removed?

  • @winreboot

    @winreboot

    Yes, you can have two devices connected. I have my obd2 elm device and dashbox. This allows more inputs displayed. Correct ELM or any obd port device has a delay, the ECU can't send pid data fast enough. Only solution is to use dashbox for that input instead.

    Does the connection still drops from time to time just as with (only) an obd plug? Because I only have the obdlink mx+ and I have a connection loss several times when it is in use.

  • @winreboot

    I know the obd2 is always flaky and on a good day it's just slow but I have not notice it drops recently. Maybe because I'm relying on dashbox more and reading slow inputs like coolant, air temp intake form obd2, so I don't notice it.

    Realdash will not support those unless you have a dashbox to wire in the signal to it. So for example, you would tap in a wire to low beam, then run that wire to dashbox, dashbox will send the signal over bluetooth to realdash so it will be displayed in the app display. You can visit realdash forum on their website for support

    Yes. You can configure it two different ways. Either wire in the fuel sender unit to dashbox and have live read out or use Realdash app to calculate the fuel tank level.

    dashbox will come with wiring diagram, you would take the rpm wire and connect to your car's rpm. Then in RealDash configure how many pulser per rotation. There is not many to choose so you can pick and choose to make sure the rpm readout is accurate.

  • @winreboot

    You will need to change the fuel reading from "body electronics" to calculated vol. First select edit for fuel gauge then for "input & Values" select data source from "calculated values" -->Fuel Level (calculated) Once you do that the fuel gauge will not try to read from obd2 but will calculate based on driving etc.. When you fill up the tank make sure you click on the little gear icon in right lower, then click on add fuel. This will top off the fuel gauge to full. Hope this helps. You can also post on realdash forum, they are very helpful with everything.

  • @winreboot

    @@NoorFilms786 Got it, in that case it sounds like you just need to calibrate the table. Edit the fuel gauge, select inputs, then dashbox, then analog input 5. Then edit and you will see what is the current read out from the sensor. You will see a table, since you have full tank it should be reading high about 5v. Once you ok to that it should display the fuel level. That is as much as I know, if it still gives you troubles, ping the guys at SP Leinonen of FB. They respond quick on messenger. facebook.com/sp.leinonen.9

  • @winreboot

    @winreboot

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, you don't need obd1 port, it it's helpfull to have as you will have more inputs. Dashbox module connects directly to the inputs, for example RPM, coolant or blinkers and then sends the signal over bluetooth to tablet. With obd port it is easier as you don't need to cut in to wires for inputs.

    Hey man, Have a quick question if you dont mind: I'm doing an engine swap into an older vehicle and as such I dont have any fuel level info over obd2. I see with this dashbox it is possible to give Realdash a fuel level reading which is great. Question is, can the Realdash still give me some kind of fuel economy readings? (Either instant/average Miles per gallon, or miles remaining to empty). Thank you for any input. I would love to have an indication of my fuel economy since part of my reasoning for the engine swap is to get better fuel milage than the original old engine. 😊

    You can do this few different ways but I would get a aftermarket fuel lever to read it accurately or use the existing fuel level and read resistance on it. The resistance can be put in a table so you will have accurate readout. Dashbox can wire to your fuel level. This is little more harder way but gives you OEM type of precision. You can check the realdash forums on realdash.net or contact the dashbox guys, they are awesome with their support. Of course you can go with just estimates to give you fuel level and consumption. You will need gears rations, tire size, car wind drag at list ball park, fuel tank capacity etc.. RealDash will calculate all the vol and display estimates. Each time you fill up gas you would reset fuel gauge or enter how many gallons of fuel you added. It will be close but not 100% accurate, I bet after a while you will get a sense how accurate this can be and vol can be adjusted to fine tune this way.
