    I like Honey she's talented and smart but the only thing would I'd say regarding the hate or backlash she received from the black girls is that History has shown us too often that anything Black folks create can get highjacked depending on who we let in. The Latin girls were in it with us No doubt but when opportunities are being pushed more on that side as well as being pushed as the face of the culture that's when things get Merky and tension builds. As black ppl we tend to Gatekeep because of this, doesn't make our antics right but looking at it through that lends should helps others understand. That's it good interview Dashaun 🖤❤️

    This episode explained more to me about Honey than I could ever imagine, for those who claims she had privilege, please understand as both Honey & Dashaun both explained she is a "product of her generation" everything now days is available & accessable by a touch of a screen, her talent helped her gain popularity & demand.. we didn't have this available in our generation, that's the huge difference.. there are kids & adults making over $30,000 a week just doing things on multiple social media platforms that some of us older generations probably don't even use so Honey fame and influence is because she knows how to utilize the tools available to her that we never had or as I mentioned, some of us don't even use! Btw Dashaun amazing job letting your guests speak and giving them their time.. as a host, you are incredible!

    Love Honey downe, but I don’t think she truly understands the full scope of “privilege” and how it actually has benefitted her. Dashaun did a great job maintaining a “conversation” instead of lecturing her in a way that she probably needs one-on-one and sober. She made some great points, but her worldview just matches the generation she grew up in, and even though it’s not entirely her fault, I hope she someday understands that statements like “it’s your choice! If you have no one on your team and no one working for you, who’s fault is that?” and “I’ve learned the ins and outs of the industry at the age of 16!“ are rooted in privilege and more about access to experiences, than just the delusion that you simply “worked hard for it”. This was a great episode overall.

    "the fact that I knew more than half of y'all and I was half y'all age?" the proverbial "you", "girls", "they", "you guys","y'all" that honey references is the larger black population in ballroom by the way. I want to thank Dashaun for hosting this conversation because it illuminates the racial disparity in ballroom, entertainment business and at large the world. the obsession with celebrity, the assumed security in adjacency to the aformentioned (girlfriendism), the viability of ballroom as a reliable source of income for ball walkers of a certain tenure (ageism), I can go on & on.

    Honey knowing how to navigate the entertainment industry is not the flex she thinks it is, given that it’s 2023. We are in the age of the social media influencer/personal branding. The elders she claims to know more than did not exist in a climate where you could monetize and capitalize from social media. Honey is following the blueprint of a social media influencer and flexing like it’s some innovative, ground-breaking approach. When it’s not. You were born at the right time, in the age of social media and information. You’ve followed the path of professional dancers. Ok so what. Clap for yourself I guess. But don’t use that to down other people especially your elders who didn’t have the same opportunities you had.

    One the one hand I can understand that if there was different treatment it would be upsetting, however, is that Honey’s fault, or the show’s? Both contestants should have been allowed time to grieve and time to be with their families. It’s disgusting that the show wouldn’t release ANYONE if they had a death in the family. I can’t even imagine that’s actually legal. Maybe Diego needed better advice and support, but that shouldn’t have been on him. At the end of the day, it’s the show’s fault. It’s not Honey who was smart enough to book an agent first who luckily was there to help her through the situation.

    I agree. The constant Diego and Mugler shade was very uncalled for. I’m not even the biggest fan of the Mugler House. But it is undeniable that they worked their asses off for a well deserved win while having to deal with bereavement. Honey had no reason to shade that talented house. She needs to shade Kelly Gorgeous Gucci who put the information out there to the public ns And tbh everything Kelly said, came true on the show we all watched. So I have no reason not to believe Kelly or her sources. Looks like she told no lies

  • @chasingdreams222

    @@wondergirl4136 Yes, you’re right! The House of Mugler rightfully won against the House of Balenciaga. Everyone, down to the Father of the house, performed and, like Honey said to Dashaun, “constantly slammed their back.” Even with the critiques, mourning, challenges faced, and biased contracts - they persevered and won! Bravo to them! Honey’s misdirected anger about contracts should be directed to Kelly, but we all know the girls tread lightly when it comes to her, so she needs to give it a rest if she’s not addressing the original messenger. Her responses seemed very petty because of the faux inspiration and an above it all attitude, which translates as insincere. Self-awareness is truly a skill that not everyone knows.

    This is an outright lie and very disrespectful to Leiomy. Why? Leiomy was shaded and received hate because she was slaying legends and icons. She literally changed the landscape of ballroom by creating iconic moves e.g. the 360 dip and the Lolly. Mind you, most ppl don’t even attempt the Lolly because no one can execute it like Leiomy. She went on a dance show in a time when gay marriage was still illegal in America!! Ballroom was still underground when Vogue Evolution went on that show!! THIS is why the girls hated Leiomy. Now please tell me what impact has Honey caused to bother the girls? What moves has she created? What legends and icons has she beaten? What boundaries has she broken down? 😂😂

    The interview was cute but the only issue I have is I don’t like when people act like they are too good for something. Obviously know your worth but don’t act like you’re above the show and then go on the show then act like you don’t need to be here because you’re already successful. It’s like when people say they are bigger than ballroom now so they don’t walk balls anymore but the following week they will be at a ball. Like ok, just let other people profit from the opportunity then.

  • @zepies9088

    it wasnt about that nor that at all though. as honey said at 3:27 you dont pay someone below their worth for their talent that that worked hard to showcase to many, and expect them to be okay. its the same as a baker or painter who gives you an amazing piece of work using the finest materials and they’ve perfected their skill,, you arent gonna expect to give them $100 and them be happy.

  • @NiqLT

    @NiqLT

    @@zepies9088 I agree. If she thinks she’s worth a certain amount of money, she should absolutely demand that. I was more so saying I don’t like the “I don’t need to be here” attitude. I just notice a lot of people in ballroom do that and it’s annoying. There’s one person I follow and every other month they post something about not walking balls anymore and being bigger than ballroom or they will tell people to not talk to them about ballroom. Yet they still walk balls. It’s just like humble yourself. If you feel like you’re too good for it, stop walking and give the opportunity to someone that has a passion for it.

    I think there is a convo that can be had about which opportunities that are presented, to whom and how race impacts that. That convo requires introspection and honesty, though. It’s a bit ignorant to dismiss how race impacts everything including opportunities. So, the casting people told you that no one wanted you around? You don’t think they were trying to sow discord to make for more entertainment? Who knows what they were telling the other contestants. This is not to take away from Honey’s experience in any way, but there needs be some critical thinking about how and why certain things were relayed/presented to the cast as a whole.
