Duckyboy 33 Vader wasn’t even supposed to have an apprentice, because he was still an apprentice himself. The Sith rules state that there is only ever 2, a master and an apprentice.

JC Stone to be fair Palpatine had other force sensitives under his control besides Vader.

When Vader said “A son.” That hit hard, especially since up to this point he had no idea Padme had given birth to Luke and Leia, a very powerful scene indeed.

I think it hits even closer to home because probably seeing the child of a jedi alive made him think of his own children with Padmé. Even if we know that he would use him, I think it's not unlikely to believe that he didn't kill him out of compassion because the child reminded him of the future he once dreamt to share with Padmé, the future he lost.

dracoangelrojo that and even though he was compassionate he still killed crushed the fathers windpipes, and for the rest of his time under Vader would be trained relentlessly in the ways of the dark side with a droid assigned to try to kill him, furthermore being revealed as a pawn to create an Alliance just so Vader could destroy the Emperors enemies in one place, and then told that Vader would strike down the emperor with someone else. *-Adoptive father of the year* 😂

Yep! Vader not only spare the boy's life, as if he was once Anakin Skywalker, and train the boy. But also he use him as the tool to sell the deception on Imperial targets so he can eliminate his enemies. Vader was never plan to kill the Emperor.

@@Xighor still if you think about it, Vader had time to sense power within each person. I assume he sensed Starkiller's potential like before and decided to put it to use, just because he knew that he contained a lot of capabilities to the force. He did assume the power he sensed was the Rebel Jedi's master, so its possible that power was enough to make Vader choose Galen as an apprentice just for that.

You guys should really read some of the Vader comics.. Even if you're not really into comics or reading in general, you'll probably like the Vader comics from 2015-2019. The series from 2017 starts at the end of Episode 3 and it's dope as hell

Vader has used Starkiller and played him like a fiddle on quite a few occasions, but we all knew that deep down he “Did” care about him to an extent.

Yes but it came full circle for Darth Vader in the end because he had Starkiller Starkiller ended up creating the rebels and then the rebels ended up destroying the empire.... or maybe did he know that the entire time that it would come back one day and that it would all be over he just never expected his son

What has always interested me about this take is Vader's tone when he says "A son". You'd expect him to be serious like normal or just angry, resentful, whatever, but he seems genuinely intrigued and not in a bad way.
