The fact that it's a double bladed yellow lightsaber makes it even more cool!

I'm excited for my Bastila.

Definitely two of my most anticipated figures of this year, big fan of Malak, never thought we'd ever get him in the Black Series and super cool we're finally able to display Darth Revan with his apprentice. Also really happy he got a whole new sculpt in stead of forcing an old mold again like Nihilus that didn't work too well. Pretty sure Revan is supposed to be shorter than Malak.

Great video! Both of these look very good. I can't get over the amount of detail on Malak's face. Pretty incredible. I think Bastila Shan's face is well done also. The outfits, despite not being crazy 'detailed' - look fantastic. I have these on order from EE - so I'll get 'em someday... Thanks for sharing!

Hello Luke thanks again for reviewing these figures and sharing your thoughts on them. Also thanks for the comparison between the figures available for KOTOR. I definitely can't wait for these new figures to release in the US. I've got mine preordered and just waiting for their release. I've honestly never played KOTOR, but I'm interested from all the things I've heard about the game. And after seeing the sculpt work and paint on these figures, I had to get them. Nice review. Cannot wait to get them. Am glad Bastila does not look as red in person. The heights for Revan and Malak seem to be correct. I think the beginning of the dantooine vision flashback showcases revan and Malak height difference the best. Revan walks right in front of Malak. Also the duel at the end of kotor shows it pretty well

That hilt on bastilla looks like deluxe Cal

Can't wait to get my Malak and Bastila. I love Knights of the Old Republic and hope they make more figures from both the first and second game

Great review, Landspeeder Luke. Glad they made Malak taller. He definitely has great presence on the shelf. Bastila also came out good too. The original renders made her look a bit cell shaded, which was a bit concerning. It's good they found the balance between a 3D animated feel and a live action feel. The KotOR series has a lot of great figures that would translate well to Black Series. I hope one day we get a Sith Triumvirate 3 pack for the Gaming greats line. Gives a chance to re-release or (hopefully) remake the old Nihilus figure and to also get Darth Sion and Darth Traya into Black series form. An HK-47 would also be a great addition to the line.

these figures look great! I would compare the Mara Jade / Aphra body to female Lightning Collection figures, both have a similar articulation scheme.

For the height difference on Nihlus you can custom swap him with a Kylo I think specifically it’s a mold with his opened hand or probably any kylo figure it looks really good in height or least better than the Maul body

Absolutely guttered I missed out on Bastila Shan sold out where I’m from. Definitely picking up Malak to go with my Revan but unsure if I want to unbox them 😅

Did you ever matte soary Malak down? I did it to the 4th sister and it looks pretty good then thought Malak needs it as well.

EDIT; Her clothing is NOT the same as her lightside version. This still applies though ---->> Also; Give her hands a dip in nearly boiling water for a minute and squeeze them tighter as they cool if you want her to have a tighter grip. Thanks for the reviews Luke. I can't wait to get Malak from a Gamestop pre-order that was supposed to drop 2 days ago but didn't hahaha.

After she turned to the dark side Bastila wore a very different set of robes so just repainting this mold wouldn't work.

Malak should be the equivalent height to zalbaar. If you play kotor theyre both the same height if not malak is taller. Just a nitpick but I feel it makes all the difference to malaks imposing stature

Bastila's outfit colors are very different from her original ingame model but since these are sourced from the remake I can accept the different tints. These look great, though, and actually very faithful to the original game. I wish now that Revan got an update. That figure is too dated now when compared to Bastila and Malak

I guess her saber is like Cal Kestis.

Malak’s height seems to be right in line with how he felt in the games. He loomed over you during the final battle, literally. His saber is also slightly longer as well iirc

@@ThomasOrri Again, we all know that. But given trends from Hasbro, this figure could’ve been deluxe based on whatever terrible benchmark they use to deem a figure deluxe. Saw, NedB, Jar Jar, Wrecker, ROTJ Boba Fett are all questionable in some capacity as “deluxe releases” and this one would be no different.

@@falcongunner33 Hasbro obviously could’ve sold it as a deluxe but there would’ve been outrage in the community, when the words are put out there that it “could’ve been a deluxe just because of paint applications” that should’ve been on there in the first place, those words could tip hasbro over the edge and go through with that idea for future releases. All I’m saying is that we shouldn’t be too nice to greedy companies.

It’s a possibility as Malak and Bastilla are based off the remake designs. An updated kotor remake version of Revan could be a very real thing in the future.

Thank you for saying that there’s not a clear reference for the height between Revan and Malak. I got into a stupid argument on Reddit where people kept telling me I was wrong for thinking that Malak is too tall. I tried to conclude the discussion saying it’s fine that we all remember the heights differently but people kept telling me I was wrong despite numerous examples depicting them at a similar height.

I personally think they got the height of Malak perfect (although I'm not really a fan of the colors - Malak's clothing is meant to be more of a darker orange-red rather than just bright red, but they might've been basing it off of how he was going to look in the remake). The main reference of height would be the in-game character models, where you can tell BioWare wanted Malak to have a taller / physically imposing build. A lot of the pictures you can find online are either fan-made or are from the SWTOR galactic timeline videos, which feature a few shots of Revan & Malak, though they're either always on uneven ground or their legs aren't shown. I can definitely see the confusion though

Malak is most definitely supposed to be significantly taller than Revan. A lot of individual artists put their flair when depicting the characters, but in the game (which is to be taken as gospel), Malak is massive.

@@lcmotive Not most definitely. It’s not just artwork that depicts him as taller, there is in game footage that shows them closer in height. It depends on what source material you’re referencing. There is not a right answer.

@@falcongunner33 Mate, in the actual gameplay, Malak's model is rated at around 6'11" with his canon height being at 6'6". The discrepancies aren't with Malak's height, it's with Revan's height because prior to The Old Republic MMO, there was no true canon version of Revan.
