Darren Hayman used to be in a band I liked called Hefner. Then he was in a band I liked called The French. Then he did some other things that I liked.
He wrote, recorded and released a song a day during January 2011. This was the 31st, and this is the video I made for it. You can see and hear the rest of the songs from the project here: / januarysongs
I started work on the animation about a week before the song was written. All I knew at the time was that it would be 90bpm. I heard the finished song for the first time at 1pm on the 31st. The video was cut, edited and lip synched a little before midnight.
The train coaches were made by Yvonne Doyle (bit.ly/e7mW5g), who also lent me the train.

I'm gonna have to agree with pkmovies92, the animation was astoundingly great, the mouth movements were on par, everything about this video was great, except for the song. Still, you're one of my favorite stop motion animators on youtube.

@XxMeleniumxX They're halogen desk lamps. I don't know what strength they are. There's no perfect distance - you point the camera at the set and then adjust the lights until it looks right.
Very nice, the animation was of course amazing, as was the lip movements. I loved the interior set for the train passenger car.

@MartySchrader The reflections are perfectly synched because it's a practical effect. No green screen there.

@rhemarev59 Darren sent me the song and lyrics at 1pm on the 31st. I already had the stop motion animation but I did all the face animation that afternoon/evening.
@tontie777 This looks more choppy because I didn't have time to refine it. This is all first-pass animation.

Very nice. I love Legomation ... made a short one myself but it only looked like a movie when I switched pics quickly on my camera ... couldn't figure out for how to do it in Adobe Premier haha!
So I found this randomly...saw the uploader name. Seems familiar. Holy carp it's chris salt the saltman assalt with a deadly chrisp, and it turns out he even likes The French!

If this was just video it would seem that the guy is hijacking the train
@jwkublick I was going to say the same thing... Especialy the second shot is super, with the reflections of the trees on the table... And the timing of the train movements is something I like as well. The song doesn't appeal to me however.
