As a United fan you need to look a little closer to home if you are searching for players bought by the manager that have not lived up to expectations. Hojlund, Onana, Mount, Anthony and Malacia have certainly not covered themselves in glory, at a total cost of over £270 million! Some would add Casemiro to that list with poor performances this season and that doesn’t include any of the dismal loan signings. This conversation would have been substantially longer, more interesting and relevant if you had the courage to discuss the United manager and his acumen around the transfer market.

Arteta didnt mean hed make subs for the keeper.. watch the interview again. He was throwing jabs at ramsdale when he said twice he wanted to sub his keeper. He also threw jabs at ramsdale in a later interview when he said "other goalkeeprs kick the ball all over the place"....

To be honest I'm still unsure of David Raya but Arteta is satisfied so unless his form collapses he's our number one. Regarding Declan Rice a 100m for a player with one year left was ridiculous but his form has fully justified the expense. One signing that made no sense was Kai Havertz. His form for Chelsea in no way justified a 65 million fee. And his form for Arsenal is merely a continuation of that poor form. If we signed him on loan that would of made much more sense. But an outright sale was simply foolhardy. Personally I would of used that money to sign Jurien Timber and Mohammed Kudus from Ajax.

At the end of the day Raya does what Arteta wants at this moment, which is passing and playing from the back. Ramsdale is a great keeper overall, but his passing stats have gotten worse and worse. Pretty much just hoofs the ball when under pressure.

most of them worked...... Jorginho was ok signing for me(can't expect world-class CDM to sit on the bench, so for the money, Arteta brought in decent CDM for easier games)...... Trossard was genius move(even if Mudryk at some point grows into the hype around him, it will take YEARS, so Trossard was far better alternative for us eventually)....... and then there is Havertz(not only he's not the player Arteta expects him to be, but he most likely won't become that player till he leaves...... there are no signs of it at this point)...... nobody would say anything if Havertz came for free(another "dead wood" for tactical subs is fine with me)...... but for this money we spent on him, Chelsea basically robbed us

Havartz is the big question mark, always looked a watery player for Chelsea and continues to do so for Arsenal. Have to question Arteta for that signing. Rice is a no brainer, Jesus does contribute tho maybe not a 50m contribution. Arteta is prob a 6/10 fir his signings. Ten Haag is a 2/10 IMO Antony & Mount are disgraceful signings.

The issue is not that Jesus doesn't score enough goal, the problem is his injuries. Arsenal looks great when he's fit. They scored 88 goals last season, I don't see that as poor.

Jesus, Zinchenko etc make Arsenal title challengers. Whether they are good enough to lift the trophy is another story. They aren’t flops if they are making Arsenal compete every season.

What are Goldstein's credentials for having his football opinions aired? He's just a mug punter like us with no professional football experience. I don't mind him putting questions to ex-players, but we can do without any of his opinions - they're not worth any more than our own as he has no valid experience.

Its funny last season most Arsneal fan channels were saying Ramdales one of if not THE best keeper in the league. Soon as he gets replaced they all like, oh he was never that good and holding us back. Arsenal fanbase is getting like Spurs with the dillusion lately.

I'd argue that Zinchenko has in general/overall, been decent for Arsenal. Not good, but decent. Kinda almost like Vieira and Jesus.

Jesus - Better then any other striker at the squad. Signing improved the squad and the first team. Raya - I think his slightly better then Ramsdale. Its certainly not major.. but its 30mil. Its not an insane amount of money. Its a margin upgrade, its ruthless but that ultimately what you do have to do if you want to be successful. Havertz - Yeah jury out of that one. I think he has been better then alot of people think he has been, his actually been low key involved in quite a few goals by pulling defenders away with his runs. But yeah, his not delivered what you would expect from a signing of that sort of money. Its not even been half a season though and it often takes a whole seasons before players fully slot into these complex systems. Despite that, its fair to say at this moment, his not a good signing. As a general rule when looking at signings made by a manager at a top club, i'm gonna pretty much ignore anything under 20mil, since they are usually just punts on young players who may or may not develop. They are naturally going to be hit or miss, which is why your not paying massive money for them. The two signings Arteta has made that are questionable are Havertz and probably Viera (although he is starting to show something this season). You can also question the sale of Martinez when he first came in (although I suspect that was probably down to an attitude clash). I could also potentially question the Tierney loan (and eventually sale lets be honest). I think the issue with Tierney is just the fitness, he is actually a good alternative to bring on if we want change up play or be more defensively compact, but you can't rely on him being avaliable and I also don't think he wants to be an impact sub, he wants to be the starting left back.

Seems like Arteta bought Jesus, thinking he could get him firing, something he's never done before. Effectively buying a cow, expecting eggs to be laid. Raya is a better goalie across the board but not by much degrees. I get the feeling that after that 1st min clanger at home to Southampton (?), where Ramsdale passed the ball to their striker, sealed his fate. But also he let in some iffey goals from outside the box with his postioning and his footwork. Then admitting on cam his mind can't focus for the whole game and wonders some moments, was a huge OG! No player should be off limits to upgrade, if their upgrading means us winning trophies, then do it. Ask serial winners Madrid. Henry, Cole, Vieira were realistically, un-upgradable.

Hojlund is top goal scorer in champions league so far and his top 5 in euros his goals in prem will come. Jesus on the other hand is a city reject and pep knew he wasnt good enough.

I wonder if Ramsdale and Arteta had a falling-out at some point and they agreed to not have the same kind of attention that Man Utd has generated. I think most of Arteta's signings have turned out well but although I've hoped Kai would start to shine, I am starting to believe he is just not tenacious enough. It's as though he gets involved in spurts but once the moment passes, he just goes calm and becomes somewhat of a spectator. He's got to turn into a madman somehow.

Just has to go back to the mental state he was at when he played in the Bundesliga. That was a player full of belief and because of that, whenever he touched the ball something good happened. If you look at most the goals he scored during that time, they were instinctive and magical. From what I've seen so far, he's slowly getting there.

Clicks on video. Reads headline fully. Makes prediction how this will go: Darren Bent says they have worked out or at the very least most of them. Mr Goldstein says they haven’t because of a variety of reasons possibly including they haven’t won anything yet. Three minutes in and I can only say it’s good to be the king. Having my 2 pence on Havertz: I’d love him to start scoring etc etc and clearly he is low on confidence in front of goal. You judge strikers on goals. You judge forwards on their forward play. Part of that is goals. Part of that is creating space for other forward. Jesus and havertz play centrally but most of arsenals goals come from out wide strangely enough from a team that favours wide play. It isn’t really that complicated. If havertz abandoned shooting completely and used that touch to play someone else in he could be an assist king (or even an emperor) Has havertz worked out? I’d say it’s a solid 6.5 out of ten and has enabled Trossard, martinelli and saka to produce 8s and 9s. Havertz may not have the same amount of individual goal scoring records of a certain player with a head shaped like a sea horse but he does have four more winners medal and even if we take into account the fact three of those winners medals are not worth the value of the ribbon they came with then he still has four more winners medals than one of tottenhams own.

Third of the season gone. 1 point off top pf PL, top of CL group, best defence in the league. Dunno if questioning Arteta’s signings right now is credible.

Arteta's has had a much higher hit over misses, in his signings But I can really see Jesus being sold in the summer, with his fee going towards a striker who flipping strikes regularly. And if Havertz's form get's no better, he goes too. No manager has a 100% signing success rate, even fergie had some doozies, i.e. Eric Djemba-Djemba, who has supposed to replace Keane's void! But unfortunately for us, Wenger's eye for talent deserted him so much, he became a 'Shallow Al' of a football manager in his 2nd half tenure, with Alumina, Stephonovs, Cygan. I read after being beaten 8-2 @ MU, one of their players asked one of our's, "Where the hell did you buy him (Stepanov's) from!"

Trossard yes . But he doesn’t play enough . Havertz no . Needs to be dropped but arteta is too stubborn . Partey , no not really . Guy is nothing more than a walking sick note really . Should’ve kept Xhaka and got rid of Partey instead we did the opposite . Timber , freak injury , 1st game of the season can’t predict that . There’s more but basically I would give arteta a solid 6 out of 10 in transfers since he’s been here . Not great but not horrible some gems in there but some real head scratchers as well . After the Havertz deal I don’t want to see us buy a single Chelsea player again
