For the full guide check the psyker guide here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i2qYuZWMl7TAc8Y.html FAQ I have a HUD but the game has not added ultrawide ui yet so it is off screen for you--and I can't really see it either. Brief Tips: - Brainburster: left click>>right click. Use left click and drag over regions there is something that you can't quite spot and let auto aim do it for you. - Left click does not push you into explosion if you start casting with ~97% peril - Cool guys look away from explosions...and while venting. You don't have to keep looking at your target, just get a lock then get cover. Use that time to look for your next target, check your team and look for adds from the back - Dodge is your friend. Use dodge to make space while bb or quelling - Quell accelerates. or maybe it has some two phases. But in either case, if you are going to bother to quell 50% peril you might as well try to find the way to quell 100% - Basic Combo: so the loop when you don't have/need to burst is brainburst left click->quick quell->repeat - Ulting for quell: if you plan on ulting to get your peril down then do one more cast at 100%, start the suicide animation and then ult - Bursting: when you need to do a lot (mass elites) and leveled enough to get the staff the combo is: one full charge staff right click at 100%->ult (double stagger so second stagger is with reduced stagger resistance)->brain burst->staff right click->brain burst->right click and you are back to - Charged sword attack: enough to stagger and 1 shot a leaping dog. Easier than dodging it if you have the time Did I miss anything good?

    I'm way lower level than you and I've yet to get the staff, but I've found force sword underwhelming on what I use melee for (small mobs) due to its pattern. Is there a hidden reason to use it instead of a sword or spade? Edit: I've arrived to build part of the video, thanks for the explanation :D

    -Ultimate range and stagger seem to scale with peril %. You can interrupt ranged enemies from really far away. -If you know there's a dog/exploder/charge around a corner/door or whatever, use right click with head pop to charge the thing and as soon as you can lock on the special then it's an instant pop with left click. It builds a lot of peril though. -Force sword push attack is insane for crowd control and to make space for the staff. Don't use the special unless there's few enemies cause you won't be able to block during the animation. Special can also be used after 1 vent at really high peril and you won't die. -For 1st talent, 50% pop shield is very useful if you want to play at range but for aggressive play and staff overall, the shield on % vented is AMAZING. It works on the ultimate so at high peril it's a free 2nd shield as soon as you press F (plus there's a talent for more shield tankiness). You can also combine it with no movement speed penalty on quelling and the staff to quickly flee and get your shield back. -Agony DOT on column 2 kinda sucks, it only kills fps. Might be good with the lvl 30 talent that lets you apply it on the ult and a full build focused on that.

    The force swords push attack is clutch when surrounded with allies and has effectively infinite wide AOE pushes for lesser enemies if you light, light, push, repeat Light att, light att, push, repeat messes with everyones attack pattern because of the momentary push debuff and gives you and others room to breath and focus targets or get back into the cleave I imagine you can fill the light, light with a heavy and have equal time but I'm more accustomed to light light

    Man I've been struggling on the ogryn in random lobbies hard to deal with ranged if your team doesn't coordinate. Been playing the Psyker and love it super good against elites and ranged enemies

    80% of people don´t slide / dodge to avoid shots. Even though it´s only 1/6 things in the very short and decent tutorial. No suprise.

    What are your thought on current specials? I think the Mutant and Trapper/Neter feel overtuned. Not a fan of Mutant 90 degree turns and how the Trapper is so hard to notice. Really need more recognisable sounds for all specials.

    Agreed with the Mutant, it feels like theres very little chance you dont get grabbed if he targets you. Also agreeing with recognizable sounds, other than the dog/mutant/tox flamer its all pretty easy to miss.

    We started getting better at hearing the trapper with experience but it was very subtle. The mutant felt very hard to dodge even in the ideal non turning condition and ridiculous around corners Bomber was awesome Flamer seemed to obvious and easy to catch they stopped being a factor after day 1 Doggos were a little janky but cool...It isn't like the assassins weren't janky

    @@akiipy22222 making the big armored bruisers slightly bigger and louder would def help. I know they don't just want to make Chaos Warriors again but they need something to help them stand out besides dark plate armor in a dark game.

    @@j_sat I feel the only way to consistently dodge mutants is to dodge+slide at the same time. Mutants seem to care only about your positioning and you can't i-frame them which is basically mirror of leech

    This is rad as heck. best Psyker gameplay I have seen so far. I am guessing that the left-click at 97% peril not overheating you will get patched out because it seems kinda like a bug but IDK. I'm also looking for a way to build around the revolver as, to me, it feels like the most satisfying gun in the game but with the staff and brain burst it really feels out classed if you can manage your peril. Really interested in seeing a day one psyker guide from you when this game comes out!

    IIRC it works like that in Vermintide as well. You can cast one more time/take a hit as unchained without overheating immediately.

    @@duanenaude5657 good to know, I played almost exclusively as battle wizard in v2 so I wasn't sure. If that is the case it seems like psyker will be the most powerful class in the game as long as you can manage hordes and keep getting head pops off.

    1. Does this game has dodge count like vt2? 2. Do you think having diverse roles in a team matter a lot? e.g : will I have difficulty with a team of 4 psykers or maybe 4 ogryns?

    Yes, mostly because passive auras don't stack afaik and each offer an unique one, together being very nice set of bonuses. Not to mention each excell at something else and for example Psyker is great at killing Specials on distance and Sharpshooter is great at picking up distant gunners before they mow your melee powerhouses down. Varied teams are clearly very encouraged here.

    got a working health ui working with an image mask/blend in obs studio. If you just do the healthbars and stuff but cut out the rest of the frame, it works without seeing what's behind it.

    So this difficulty looks like its silghtly easier than legend having in mind you aren't even fully geared. I was playing level 11 psyker and with a decent team level 3's were to easy, level 4's were a bit difficult. But with a bit of extra power and an extra perks, looks like it would scale to 4 being alright and 5's being the challenge.

    Can someone explain the psyker abilities, seems like you dont need to see your targets etc? or do you need to "lock on" first then you can line of sight etc? Also, perils does nothing ?

    The psyker has this ability instead of nades. You need to see the target and it will lock in enemies that are in the center of the screen, once you start channeling you dont need to keep him in sight. Seems like he is not getting down with peril.. as you see the wave but not taking damage.. very strange indeed.

    @@Cassiobl that would be the psykers ‘ult’ as it were. It drains all peril and pushes enemies away. Also it seems very hard to actually suffer from max peril. I’ve only managed it twice and its when I started to charge a head pop at 100%, but a quick press of the ult clears it all up. I kinda hope they change this, as while its really fun and makes the character, and furthermore psykers in general, feel like the threat people treat them as, it also feels a little broken. Currently 100% peril just isn’t that much a problem for players.

    @@jockekaske right click allows you to charge a head pop without locking on to an enemy, and to discharge you actually have to be looking at them. Left click allows you to lock on to one enemy, and only once you have locked on will the head pop actually begin to charge. Once you have locked on you can seek cover or just look for other enemies. Looking at other enemies with left click is charging doesn’t change who you lock on too, but releasing left click before the charge is complete means you reset the charge (although importantly not the peril), so when left clicking it’s important to know who you’re locking onto. I’ve only really found right clicking useful for enemies you hear before you see, such as dogs and those pox exploders. You can sit with a charged head pop and wait for them to round a corner. The downside for this is that you will continually generate peril with holding down right click, while with left click you only generate peril when locked on.

    What I've learned over the years when it comes to psyker powers: Blue or White Warp Energy = safe. Purple or any other colour = you're at serious risk. Here be daemons.

    Damnation seems really under tuned if it is indeed the highest end-game difficulty. I was starting to see lvl 15-25 pub groups clearing it near the end of the beta. I know this isn't the full game, so the added enemies/features in release may change difficulty drastically. But pubs who aren't even max lvl, with un-optimized builds already clearing max difficulty missions in a matter of days is concerning.

    yeah they haven't used anything that they should have learned from vt2, underlevelled, undergeared players are already clearing the highest difficulty and - unlike vt2 - fatshark intend 0 mod support for this game so the community won't even be able to address the issues in this game

    all ff is disabled in the beta. but there are ff lines and markers, so i'm guessing it will be enabled on release.

    I think there's going to be 3 skill trees for each character. This is the kinetic tree, so all force pushes and head pops. There'll be a lightning one and probably a fire one too.

    I wonder if they will change the 100% Psyker exploit. Right now so long you are not 100% when casting you can spam the skill, even with 97% it won't overload.

    In my opinion the Staff is not worth using, you can get much more purchase out of a Shotgun Magazine and the trash is gone instead of just staggering them and throwing them around. Might be wrong but that is how i see it, also it gives you an option to use another resource instead of Perril/warp. I also believe if you just use a routine in melee like in Vermintide you are going to be just fine in this game, granted you have to account for the differences in stagger and basically get the feel for it, but the Melee in this game is quite strong if you got the right gear and are capable like in vermintide, you should have no problem dealing with bigger enemies. I also find it easier to dodge Plagueogryns than to dodge Chaosspawn and Ratogres, those fuckers are slow as all hell, i even danced around him with the Ogryn, no big deal. So i think you should a bit stuck in there, it is certainly the way to play for me, it´s more fun imo.

    It is annoying you cant see your health bar and all buffs debuffs you get. It has 25% less information to assess everything.

    Psyker definitely needs some mechanical reworking. The gameplay loop of brain bursting on repeat 90% of the time just isn’t fun or interesting for very long. It’s a zero skill ability you can spam to murder everything except hordes with great efficiency. To me it makes more sense for you to be required to track the enemy with your aim while charging the burst. This would really help balance the ability and provide wayyy more skill expression. Good psykers would still be popping things from a mile away. Right now the brain burst is just way too free

    That would really kill the psyker in high level play. They'd have to majorly boost the charge time if they did that cause having to stand out in the open while killing things would just make you useless with the enemies crazy damage. Not to mention how difficult it can be to target the right enemy when you have a horde of enemies in front of you. Only reason it seemed easier in the vid is cause marking elites makes it easier to target them with the head pop. Also as seen in the video it can take multiple head pops to kill an elite so if they rush you you have to use ur melee

    @@idkimnotcreative8974 It would be a nerf, but I’m not convinced it would kill them. You would need to be more selective about when you use brain burst. It would stop being such a good option in almost every situation. Also, the first set of talents for Psyker lets you regen 50% toughness per successful brain burst. That alone lets you mitigate A LOT of incoming damage. You bring up the difficulty of targeting, then offer the solution of marking in the same breath. Is it a bad thing that you need to mark elites in the highest difficulty? Lastly, enemies charging you isn’t always an issue while charging brain burst. Depends on which enemy, but you can spam dodge away from quite a few of them while charging your burst.

    @@idkimnotcreative8974 I’m not opposed to the charge time being decreased a bit to compensate the change though. I just think right now the way Psyker plays is super boring. Constantly brain bursting shouldn’t be a good decision. Specials being so free to kill with an ability you hardly need to aim that also replenishes toughness and doesn’t go on much of a cooldown feels bad. Not to mention how it gets stronger with talents from later levels. Nothing in VT2 is this busted without a hefty drawback, cooldown, and/or player skill requirement.

    Well that Brain Burst spam looks really boring tbh ... is it relly possible to cast a fully charged brain burst with ~99 perils without blowing up? That looks kinda broken. I m also not happy with the talents most of them force you to cast brain burst a lot. I dont see much room for different playstyles or am I missing something?

    I've found the Force Sword to be really weak overall. The shove is way, way worse than any other weapon i've found and the Warp charged hit, while strong, takes long enough that it can easily be interrupted and then you just die. Personally i've been rocking Axe and it's been working way better for me.

    Do you do the "push-shove" attack when you do it? For me they fall over when I do it

    I've found the shove to be really good with the Force Sword actually, just not the follow up hit. So I tend to just use the shove as it hits everything in front of me then continue light attack-heavy attack-cancel

    I loved the beta but I'll be honest, get rid of the side-scoot meta... that shit is silly now. So many new players in lobbies that clearly haven't played V1 or V2. Just make the directional dodge distances all the same...

    I find it interesting how slow and meticulous they've made darktide compared to v2 In v2 you could kinda speed through things, ambient mobs were only noteworthy when combined with a horde/boss/patrol spawn. You could kinda shut your brain off for segments of v2 levels, and then turn your brain back on once you saw elites or heard specials Darktide seems to demand consistent performance throughout the entire level, and appropriately seems to scale back on specials and hordes in order to allow the player to deal with ambient mobs. The inflated enemy health seems to support this as well, tankier enemies across the board means even more time and resources spent really fighting your way through the levels It's a very good design philosophy change to transition into a focus on ranged combat, even though rushing ranged enemies with melee seems to be the best choice on lower difficulties I'm excited to have to adapt my playstyle after thousands of hours of vermintide 2, although I think I might have to upgrade my hardware as this game is either way more demanding or has poorer optimization than vermintide 2

    tbh, psyker looks really boring. You're stuck moving slow for most of the combat, and you're forced to wiggle your ass in a direction to actually move.
