Well, yes and no, if it weren't for the one unlucky parademon to be in the right place at the right time, the omega beams would have hitted batman, and that's what we call "plot armor"

Respects him so much, he wanted to clone him and even take over one of their body after using up his human host in Final Crisis. The main reason why he didn't succeed is because the clones couldn't handle the mental trauma that Batman possess.

Batman could win ONCE, but throwing Doomsday at bats the 2nd time wouldn’t even be a fight, because really there’s only a few people or things in DC that can consistently put doomsday away.

In some versions, Darkseid respects Batman because he's one of, if not the only being, to ever avoid his Omega Sanction

Final Crisis was the greatest showing of Batman ever in a comic book line.

He respects Batman but he fears Superman.

In actuality, Darkseid's flat out terrified of Batman. Despite supposedly being just a normal human, every time Batman and Darkseid come to blows, Darkseid ends up losing, often quite badly and painfully. For example, when Darkseid murdered his own son Orion, Batman arranged his supposed capture just to get into a position to end Darkseid as a power in the DC universe for good, in short order taking away Darkseid's army, control of his world, and his very life, killing Darkseid with the same bullet he murdered his own son with. In another instance of Darkseid trying to invade the earth, Darkseid was able to beat down and capture every single member of the Justice League... Only for Batman to appear out of nowhere in his palace in a suit of powered armor that let him literally beat Darkseid to a bloody pulp, after pretty much obliterating Darkseid's palace security without Darkseid even being aware he was under attack until it was to late where he then quite literally threw darkseid off of the very balcony he used to address his troops, and proclaimed himself ruler of Apokalips, and told Darkseid's former followers to look upon the broken body of their false god. Seriously, one of Superman's best moments in the animated DC universe was literally stolen from Batman.

Darkseid already has literal god-like strength and power, that's probably why he appreciates more the "smaller" aspects of an individual mind

Long story short a human who can kick his ass with intelligence wit and tenacity

That's why he's the GOAT.

"Willing to do whatever it takes to protect the people he cares about." Except use guns. Except kill even the most undeniably evil and irredeemable villains. Batman is a half-measure.

I liked the reason shown in the DC animated movie where Darkseid kidnaps Supergirl. Batman breaks into Darkseid's armory, breaks the encrypted arming code for his Hell Spores (basically god nukes), changes the code, sets them all on a timer, and uses the threat of planetary annihilation to force Darkseid to give Kara back.

Batman is the only character we the fans are ok with using plot armor. We love him that much and combined with the Underdog angle its part of his Schtick at this point.

Batman doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. Darkseid respects Batman's leadership and how the others fear and respect him.
