I love how the Color of Madness tracks are the only ones to incorporate synths and other irregular instruments. In the DD "mythos," that just serves to make the area feel even more properly alien and otherworldly.

The legend of Zelda twilight princess does it too it’s a really nice touch where the ...well normal doesn’t really apply for darkest dungeon but you get the point is orchestral and stuff while the otherworldly shattered space and time place is all synth-y. great soundtracks on both games...or maybe I just like synth-y music

It's truly astonishing how good Stuart's combat tracks have gotten since the first beta version. The originals were still really good, but from the Cove update and onwards the music has become honestly masterful.

I’m not sure what’s better about this DLC: The fact that Eldritch brings from SPACE are the foes this time around or the fact that you’re just BUTCHERING THEM. A well equipped team can go 2000+ kills in the farmstead

Looking to that most accomplished architect of sound, I compelled him to present his set of confounding works! Of course, I did so in the most cordial manner, befitting a man of his station...
You nailed the suspenseful feeling in this track. It also carries that same unearthly feeling from the previous tracks, like there is something "wrong" going on but you can't understand what it is. Great job.

Look at all these people, who love the soundtrack. Who praise Stuarts work (I hope we're on first name basis. If not, please let me know :P). And I look at CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE. Who needs hundreds of people to create their game, a dozen or so people to create good music sure. But the atmosphere of darkest dungeon combined with Stuart's amazing talent... It is something else. This. This is why I love story telling. Cheers Stuart!
Would it be a stretch to say these creatures never die? I mean, you can get over 2000 kills in this single area, and thatd be an outrageous amount of workers to have on a medieval farm
i swear, the darkest dungeon OST is some of the best music ive ever had the pleasure to listen to in gaming. its in my top 3 overall, and the stuff from the town in ruins on, lights me aflame with glee and throws me into the battle all the more.

it needed to be said! your work has seriously made this experience. I want even more, as it's informed my imagination and makes the blood pump to quite the degree.
The climax of this track is just so goddamn satisfying listening to
this one is my favorite - from all color of madness osts
I noticed something with your tracks Stuart, in most regular tracks if you increase the speed of the track it will sound out of whack, but in case your work increasing/decreasing the speed at which a track plays changes their mood from action music to creepy to mysterious. Is that by any chance on purpose?
*A time to perform beyond one's limits!*
The Anscestor may have ensured not only doom upon the hamlet and its people with the eldritch curse, but now to enforce such grim truth even the stars themselves assult us with this hatefull scorn...but hey we got this sick soundtrack so...worth?
Finally got to playing Darkest Dungeon in a long time tonight... "You are yet to discover the alien powers that lie within our mansion... But one thing is certain. All the steps of the way - the music of a thousand galaxies will follow..." (that was me, pretending to be The Narrator, giving your work a compliment)

From the next DLC: "One evening, whilst impregnating a blind, one-legged beggar and throwing kittens into the fire, I had an idea. What if I tried to summon the cutest, fluffiest bunny ever? What could possibly go wrong? "After clubbing some cute baby seals, I gathered around me a most accomplished and gullible coven of diabolists, blasphemous scholars, total edgelords, and a carrot merchant with particularly loose morals..."
@TruculentSheep
6 жыл бұрын
"'Will this go wrong?" my chief magus asked, as he readied the ceremony to summon forth the unspeakably fluffy one. 'Oh no', I said. "And I have no track record whatsoever in buggering this sort of thing up at all. Ever.' "'Oh, that's alright then,'" my adjunct sighed with relief. 'I'd better get started and sacrifice some virgins! That giant killer bunny won't wait forever!'" "Around us, the coven gathered, waving pieces of lettuce about in a suggestive manner. And, in some far-off place, far beyond the truncated limits of human cognisance, something came hopping..."
@TruculentSheep
6 жыл бұрын
"With a flash of sickly light, the Great Fluffy One appeared before us. Most died on the spot, overwhelmed by the total squee. Others shat their lungs out in terror. The carrot merchant asked if he was still going to be paid. Who could have foreseen that such an unholy ritual would ever go wrong? That the polygastric perversion of nature that now stood before me could be so... peckish?" "I realised then that this lagomorphic obscenity would surely eat every bit of veg and grass within 10 miles if I didn't stop it. What was to be done? "'Sod this for a game of soldiers', I decided, and ran off home, leaving my remaining minions to die horrible, screaming, hoppy deaths..."
I love the emotional impact of this track, it really feels the most "in control" of the farmstead songs which is fitting as its the only light that is actively beneficial
ive had an ear-gasm for the third time in four weeks, thank you
Shifting Colors. Anguished screams. Swirling thoughts. Spilled blood. Madness unfolds.
When I saw the art, I thought maybe players would have to fight twisted versions of themselves. Maybe in the sequel, if they use the wendigo myth, we'll get to fight heroes who have abandoned the party and gone mad.
this is my favorite track

This track is simply *SPLENDID*! Great job as always Stuart!
Yes! I saw someone on your last video asking for this one to get put up. This one is my absolute favorite.
I love this song. Probably my favorite of the soundtrack just out of the sheer fact that i can see myself playing the cello and moving with the violins cries.
I've already put this to good use in my DnD campaign when the party came face to face with Demogorgon, Prince of Demons, rising from a subterranean lake. The atmosphere your music creates was perfect for it, thank you Stuart!
Stuart, you are an underated gem of gaming music.
It's like cosmic horror and gothic horror teamed up for an almighty jam session...
A BRILLIANT CONFLUENCY OF SKILL AND PURPOUSE ! Loved it !
I love how everyone in the picture looks ready for a fight, on guard and the Anti is like "Yeah guys you deal with it, I find this neat melting crystals over here..."
Hey Stuart, you did a really good job with the Darkest Dungeon OST in general, every track of the game is absolutely amazing and fits with their locations, to the point where you can feel the atmosphere of the levels through their songs, the usage of synths in the color of madness OST gives this vibe of something that comes from the space itself, and it's fantastic. Keep it up dude, this is fantastic.
Why are you so good. This is my favorite track yet.
Finally! I finally found this soundtrack! Thank you so much!
Another great work as always 😁
I so so love the feel you get by adding a synth like this to a track that otherwise has the same great sound as the rest of the soundtrack. You really blew me away with the Color of Madness OST and have through Darkest Dungeon's life made me go "Okay now this is definitely the best song in the game" more times than I can count.

Just found the album on spotify. Seriously fantastic work. I love the utterly different feel of each track (the little intro of each is very cool!). *Very* Lovecraftian.
I really like this track the most in this DLC. And I find it even more tense when sped up. It just sends chills down my spine listening to it.
And another masterpiece from master Chatwood. That song is alive and it says "too bad for you now you're in it"
Easily one of my favorites from Chatwood (but saying that, everything he puts out is my favorite). The harmony of the fast violins with the synths, the heavy beating of the drums, it all comes together to make a battle anthem the likes of which I will never get out of my head. Darkest Dungeon wouldn't be Darkest Dungeon without Stuart Chatwood, his musical works make me so happy. Can't wait to see what he comes up with for DD2. :)

I always wonder how you manage to sew together beauty of music and equal level of unease to even one of the more mercyfull stage of an endless quest such as this. It reminds you even if you have a chance, you can lose it just as quickly.
The soundtrack for this dlc never ceases to amaze me
Great Track, especially the second half!
