I recommend using the sunlight talisman, it gives super poise when using the weapon art for some reason. So you don't get hit out of lighting stake Or spears. But you take a damage loss so I guess it's preference. Either way nice run sir!

Maaaaaan faith builds are so op :D I love using them a lot. I was thinking of making a sorcery build but not a clue on what exactly should be worked on. Ik you need Intelligence but should I devote to intelligence or have some put in dexterity or strength as back up?

If you get the gnaw miracle which you can get as early as cathedral of the deep, it does dark and bleed which dancer is both weak too. It only takes 2-3 casts to bleed her and killing her gives you access to a better lightning spear early on

Abyss Watchers -> Spawning times are NOT RNG. They spawn EITHER if enough time has passed OR you damage the main guy enough.

Going up against those monster bosses with faith and a poodle wapper. This is going to be good. One would think with all the miracle whoopies there would be some rat and dog repellent. Cut a half hour off the run.

If you do miracle only run, will you use Dorhy's Gnawing (it bleeds Nameless on second hit -> 1400dmg total with 2 casts). Or is it considered "dark" and doesnt qualify for miracle only (even though game calls it miracle)?

+Early Crowd I may potentially do another run of miracles where I use the Gnawing spell. Nearly every boss in the game can be bled, so it could be fun :)

Dunno if you already know but the latest patch reverts back to the old one. So no stutters but hackers teleporting you to FIRELINK as a dragon and shit are still a thing,

Holy balls, those abyss watchers did the dark souls version of cross mapping you.

Abyss watchers weren't so hard on my strength build. But they definitely molested my sorcerer. 10 classes man, OCD kicking in hard. Narrowing it down by contemplating on whether which i should go for next Pyromancer and dex, which should i do? Assassin?

Minh Nguyen I beat the Abyss Watchers on my second try using my strength build! Were pretty easy. Only died because I wanted to know their attack patterns lol what weapon(s) did you use on strength?

I don't remember what stats I had at the time, but I know that fighting these guys with a glass cannon mage build, I could one shot the adds with Great Heavy Soul Arrow. Makes the beginning of the fight quite a bit easier if you can just take out the variables in one hit. I don't know what point you reach with that in a Faith build, but might be worth looking into. You should have all the necessary rings, too, since I just had the beginning dragoncrest, silver serpent, cloranthy, and sage ring. And your talisman should be the same level also. The only thing I can think of would be just a difference in base damage amounts, but I don't think I had any more than 40? int so you might be able to get it done. I did basically what you did here, though, taking on Deacons as late as possible. Crystal Sages kicked my ass too, basically required the Farron Flashsword.

On the successful Abyss Watchers fight, when you were down to one more melee range hit why didn't you just use long range instead? You risked death two or three times there for no reason considering you had a full FP bar and an ashen estus left.

JesseRalts Abyss watchers have really nasty attacks to try to catch you at range. Better to risk punishing their attack than to back off and get one-shotted.

The cleric starts with 8 dex so you need to put it up to 10 to get the fastest casting speed with the sage ring.

Are miracles even worth using? I'm doing a pyromancy build right now and they can be pretty strong and i want to do miracles next but they seem kinda shitty

+RairyuV2 Miracles aren't shitty. Strong in pve and pvp (only with talisman, for hyper armor). You only need a good Chime (Yorksha chime) or talisman with minimum 50 faith for deal good damage. But all good miracles for damage are in late game, like great lightning spear (30 sun bro medals) and Sunlight spear (souls cinder soul), also Nameless soul give you a strong but a little slow damage miracles. Sorry for my bad english :c

Hey Dist, I don't mean to be one of those annoying people criticizing you on every decision and turn, but it annoyed me a little that you didn't get Lighting Stake, Shield of Want, and the Undead Bone Shard right before doing Wolnir :/ I wanted to ask why you didn't, if it just slipped your mind, or if there was an ulterior motive behind it? Just for clearing up, because I'm doing a miracle character right now, and it just made sense to me to have the up-close high damaging miracle for the boss where you can really only do close range combat, along with the 10%(?) increase of souls from the shield and the upgrade to your Estus. Oh, and you can also pickup all the Large Titanite Shards down there to increase your Talisman to +6 instead of +4. I don't know, maybe it's just pre-thought strategics from someone that isn't in the current pressure of speedrunning a challenging idea and the pressure of performance. Just thoughts :) Have a good one, and thanks for reading my lengthy comment if you so chose to read it

Its because doing it before Wolnir is way slower. If you kill wolnir you can grab the bonfire then go down to Smouldering Lake, otherwise you need to grab an extra bonfire in the Catacombs and then run back to Wolnir after collecting the items. Wolnir is super easy so having +7 and Lightning Stake makes next to no difference at all. You just end up wasting 1-2 minutes.

Oh okay :) Yea that actually makes a lot of sense from a speedrunning side of view. Thanks for taking the time to reply haha, and I just wanted to also say that you've kinda inspired me to start doing my own speedrunning, and I've started practicing, making characters and just running through the game, picking up speed strats as I watch your streams and play. You provide countless hours of entertainment while I play DS and you're just really fun :) I'll definitely try to catch your streams sometime :)

For example, during the Abyss Watchers fight, you're talking about how hard most of his attacks are to punish but after every whiff you take half a second to sprint up to him to cast lightning spear. Does being closer deal more damage? I feel like he'd be more punishable if you just... stood in place and cast immediately instead of running closer first.

Parrying in PVE is not that hard with any kind of shields.. Except for shields that can't of course..

+Siegmeyer of Catarina Lightning spear hits twice if you are in melee range. So effectively double damage.
