    Aside from the aesthetics of the structures and armors, the thing that always really did it for me are the lighting and dark contrasting shadows casted on everything. It sets a very distinct mood and atmosphere.

    The smudgy bloom created from light hitting metal and bleeding out, the film grain lighting a quiet sunset and dark floor, the almost reddish hue the camera would give the skin of the actors sometimes, the stings of music in rather quiet scenes to create some mood or tension and the blue rimlighting.

    None of you here know your shit (Sorry for being rude). They are four King's FIeld games. KI 1 (1994), KI 2 (1995), KI 3 (1996) and KI 4 aka the only KI 4 game that the fromsoftware fanbase know (For some reason). OP comment is a little dumb (Apologies for the rude words but i must tell what i think). Souls series is a spiritual successor to King's Field. Uses almost the same design philosophy. One is in first person and its clunky, while the other is in third. Souls series is the KING'S FIELDs you want. If you are not satisfied. The first person mods for the Souls games exist. But they suck.

    God I wish people were still making movies that look sort of like this. Conquest, Willow, Conan - hell, even Deathstalker! There's something so charming to these aesthetics. That said, for such visuals to work in movies you need an audience that watches them with the right mindset - that you need to fill in whatever the film can only suggest on your own. Viewer imagination as opposed to mind melting CGI exuberance. I'd argue that modern mainstream movies are conditioning audiences to no longer be capable of that.

    I've noticed something and nobody seems to point that out. All of these videos have monsters and fantasy elements that are made to resemble practical effects that don't look real. This seems to be one of the biggest differences between the old movies and modern day blockbusters. CGI always strives to be the most realistic it can and often lands in the uncanny valley but the practical effects are taken straight out of a stage play and everyone is aware of that. It's interesting that all new movies decided to fool the audience as much as they can. The props make it way more fun for me, I know it's just a movie made to entertain and it's honest about it.

  • @Atrahasis7

    Pretty much yes. Same thing goes for action scenes really which were more slow and choreographed like Conan unlike say Legolas in The hobbit. Souls games kinda started like this were your character still felt human, but lately even from soft is increasing power levels. Fantasy can be as bullshit as it likes, depends on genre, but classic fantasy looks better when people are not flipping around like in an anime. It makes ogres, cyclops, dragons more fearsome if all you have is human capabilities.

    I disagree. To me CGI and practical effects don't overwrite the usefulness of the other. One isn't inherently better than the other. It depends on many things. Practical effects aren't always "practical" and as much as I also like them, they can ruin a movie just as much if not more than CGI if used poorly.

  • @yaranaikaexecute3196

    @yaranaikaexecute3196

    @@lethauntic I'm not sure if you are replying to me or some other subcomment but I didn't mean to say that CGI is useless. I just wanted to say that modern movies focus so much on how to make everything as realistic as possible with CGI and maybe some of them would benefit from that playfulness that practical effects often deliver. It seems to be mostly forgotten about, I'm not that much into modern fantasy movies so maybe I'm wrong and they are still used.

The problem is I didn’t remember what video/medium I heard this beat on so I’ve spent the last 3 hours retracing every video I’ve seen this past month until I found this… And I’m very happy to have found it because this beat is both creepy and epic. Just listening to it with my eyes closed I feel like I’m walking down a dark corridor alone after my entire party has been wiped out, I alone must continue down the dungeon corridor to face the horrific boss monster by myself, even if the chances of me surviving is low or non existent.

    The way its emulating like a specific type of film color grading and contrast just blows my mind. Like the highlights in some shots have this overblown blurred greenish tint, as if its like clipping and being brought down by the low contrast and black levels. Its just fantastic. Hard look to recreate! I love it and im jealous. AI art usually bothers me but this is a great use of it

    @@Red_Eyed There is several vids like this with the same style to it. If someone would create a movie series. Better yet a internet series independent of major companies they would break away from the grip of Hollywood and become legend. This my friend is a new era and a reach back into the sword and scorcry films we love. DUDE CONAN THE KING..🤯😳😁

I find myself enchanted by it… actually, does anybody know if these images are representing actual content from the game or if they’re just based on it?
