    @@SuperDarkVeganHe's the final boss of the first game, the guy who started it all. The world is a mess because of him, but little it matters since by the point you fight him he's gone hollow, just a walking corpse that can barely show his original strength. In DS3, Soul of Cinder is a monster made out of every being who has linked the flame just like Gwyn, that's why it has a vast amount of moves and fighting styles. When you get him to 2nd phase it's Gwyn's essence that takes control, and the music reflects that by using his "plin plin plon" music from the first game.

    You may be right, it's duty-bound to protect the flame, because it's unknown whether Ashen One will rekindle or extinguish it. Or it's a final test to be worthy of linking the flame.

    @@hydroshock1853 In this case it's the flame summoning the soul of ALL the past Lords of Cinder to fight desperately against whoever would attempt to link it again. The flame wanted to fade, it needed to. Keeping the flame alive is what made darkness fester in the hearts of men. This isn't just Gwyn we're fighting -- its also us from DS1, DS2 and every other person that has sacrificed their soul for the flame. The flame linking ending shows that there was nothing else that could keep the flame alive at that point. It was kept for far too long. Hope that helped.

    I like to imagine the Soul of Cinder is fighting you not as a test, but because it genuinely doesn't want you to link the fire again. Thats how i always interpreted it too. It's very clear throughout the game that the Lords of Cinder all foresook their thrones because they knew that Kindling the Flame wasnt worth it at all, and that the Age of Fire is LONG past its due date. The 'Link the Fire' ending encapsulates this too. If you link the Fire at the end of Dark Souls 1, your body erupts into a spectacular eruption of flame. It's clear during that ending that the First Flame is well and truly burning brightly once again, and the Age of Fire will continue on (for better or for worse) But, at the end of DS3, there is no spectacular lightshow. You simply come over with a soft flame, barely even noticable against the red sky in the background, as the Unkindled One rests atop the ashes of the untold thousands of others who Linked the Flame before them.

  • @MichaelTheRead
    @MichaelTheRead Жыл бұрын

    The flame burns so weakly that it doesn't even pain. At best, it feels like a feeble, warm breeze. Only then does the Ashen One realize the folly of their action, but it's too late to go back. They settle in, and wait for the next champion, the cycle began anew once again. Though the flame is weak, it still burns, slowly, surely, and the Ashen One's armor will be melted beyond all recognition by the time the next champion reaches the Kiln.

    The Soul of Cinder is the not just the power of countless gods, lords and heroes as one, it is the sheer unending will to keep Flame alight, even if the world itself must burn first. The music, lore, boss design, variety in moveset, emotion, difficulty (not too hard but def not the easy one) and every aspect links together really well to make us have a bigger picture of this boss.

    What is the lore of the Soul of Cinder, because he doesn’t seem much more intimidating than the Elemer of the Briar from Elden Ring and I’ve never played Dark Souls 3 Edit: I played Dark Souls 3…holy, fucking, christ in heaven…this was the greatest narrative experience I’ve ever had in my entire life It was so much more than an intense battle, so much more than just some flaming warrior An amalgamation of the souls within the First Flame The souls of Gwyn, the Chosen Undead, and everyone who came to link the fire afterwards What a fitting end to the trilogy, pretty much ending where we began I also remember the Kiln of the First Flame in DS1, there was a lot of ash, but not nearly as much as what we see in 3 Gwyn’s fear…it destroyed the world…the fear of the dark killed hope…killed the world itself I’ve had a few choices in mind for if I ever get a tattoo, the Elden Ring, the Triforce, or even just no tattoo at all I have to do it, I have to get the Darksign

    If SoC just stayed in its Pyro Curved Sword form, and purely using the Curved Sword, it'd be the hardest boss of DS games. Pyro has almost no openings, fastest moveset, no telegraphing of attacks and jumps back after each combo, leaving no time for player to counter attack.

    In general, your experience does not have to be the same as others. For me, this boss wasn't the most difficult, but was difficult enough. And there are bosses across the trilogy as well as Demon's Souls and Bloodborne that have been said to be easy but I struggled with them. Conversely, some bosses have been said by the community to be very difficult, and I usually do find them a challenge, but not to the extent they were made out to be. For instance, it took me more attempts to beat Abyss Watchers than Slave Knight Gael, which would be considered lunacy by the average community virgin. Yes, I say virgin because chads wouldn't take it so hard and understand it's my experience and my experience alone. Sorry, didn't mean to preach, the comment section is getting a little toxic. The important thing is, you beat him. Great job!
