Tf you mean "strength wins again"? This is a win for Dex since Dex has weapons in the Great weapon classes, while also having ones that swing faster.

Best dex weapon is actually a Sharp Lothric Knight Sword. Why? Because it's not an heavy weapon :D Every good player can easily punish GS, CGS, UGS, GH and GA. Other powerful options are Frayed Blade, Sharp Estoc, Sharp Crow Quills and stuff like that.

+Cristiano Barcellini The most of the people who use light weapons are R1 spammers, or maybe they just parry their opponent and oneshot him. The parry is an overused, annoying and broken mechanic in PvP.

yeah with 60 Dex and 30 strength and leo ring I did 1240 damage with a single charged R2. it was dumb.

Bobby Derran sometimes weapons will scale higher. Such as FUGS I think 55strength to one hand and you should get 60strength for softcap. It depends on the weapon

@Bobby Derran The softcap for a Sharp Astora Greatsword isn't 40, I've been levelling dex past 70 and it increases my AR by 3 atk every time

Ice code Game the whole point of the weapon is to be a slightly weaker ultra great sword in exchange for its weight and flexibility but chase treats it as a dex weapon just because he is only using dex builds. The ONLY thing he uses

I love this weapon. I made a tank that stacked poise and used iron flesh for combo weapons and blessed weapon for a buff and it was GODLY. I'm working on an updated version right now.

You leveled dex REEEEEEEE!!!! In all seriousness, that's pretty awesome, I might go pick it up for my dex sorc, and see if I can't make that work

Right now I'm using the Crystal Astora Greatsword. With 50 intelligence, 25 Dex, 25 Strength, and the Loyds sword ring, I get about 760 AR out of it. The charged R2's on this thing one shot almost everyone. Definitely my favorite weapon.

I am so glad they fixed the sound of the 2h rolling light attack a couple patches ago. When they nerfed the rolling attack, they also changed the sound to a thunk which was lame. Now it has regained its former glory XD

I feel in love with this weapon when i used it as a storm faith build my first playthrough!

I use an astora dex build as well, no spells & grass crest slung over my shoulder along with cloranthy ring & black bow of pharis as my secondary as a harassment & spacing tool, heal or cast punish & to finish runners. I also have on milk ring for rolling shenanigans. This weapon is alot of fun.

Also works great on Intelligence builds too due to it getting an S with Crystal.

I love using this weapon with my Dex faith build. I do a ton of damage with lightning blade on the Greatsword

This weapon is pretty universal, i reached 700 AR on dark infusion with 50/40 int and faith and blindfold mask while having stats close to mininal stat requirements and its pretty damn good

Played this thing with a quality build a few months ago. I think I've never oneshotted so many people with this and leo ring. It's crazy good.

I was just thinking about the Astora Greatsword and first video that comes up is this!!

The rolling attack is no more count as a thrust since the Astora patch (like 6 months ago)

You should revisit Gotthard's Twinswords too, they've been reworked to be a pretty serious Dex weapon. A 40/40 Gotthard's with refined will have 389 AR, but a 12/60 sharp Gotthard's will have 387 AR which depending on your starting class will give you noticeably more levels to play with which is worth the 2 less AR. And as fyi, 12/70 sharp Gotthard's is 407 AR, 12/75 is 415 AR, and 12/80 is 422 AR which is *really* good for a paired weapon since you're hitting multiple times with each L1. I would say probably best way to go is 12/70 and use the extra points from putting dex higher into faith so you can cast blessed weapon because 407 x 1.075 = 437 which is even higher AR than the 12/80 version.

If you infuse a drakblood greatsword with dark it gets a C scaling in faith and intelligence, but the scaling goes towards the dark damage as well as the lightning and magic for over 700 AR total. (can be increased with self buffs +clutch rings to get even higher) I know it's split damage (most of it dark), but it's a decent weapon to throw on a hex or pyro build with 40 faith and intelligence.

IMO definitely the best ultra great sword in the game! So many different variety you can infuse this weapon that correlates with your class! Lightning gem gives it a S scaling on faith and the crystal gem gives it a S scaling on int! SMH way too OP!!!!!

I bet if he did a 40 Dex 60 faith build he would still have enough points for a good amount of endurance, vigor, and like 20 attunement then he could buff it with either darkmoon blade or lightning blade getting like at least 700+ damage and hed have the attunement slots to use sunlight spear and lightning arrow and with 40 dex cast speed would be good

even if it wasnt worth it to have the buff it makes it look so cool that it's still worth it.

I'm at SL106 and currently going 40dex/40fth. Also, have 25 Vitality. With lightning and oath sunlight buff, I get around 800 AR. My high vitality build allows me to run a high grade armor and the grass crest shield for parry/better stamina regen along with the sunlight sword for both buffs and mixups(although you don't really need it with how great astora is lol). I do have 18 Attunement because I actually made this build to support my friend who is new in pve. So I have Lightning Blade, a heal spell and a flex spell. Also sometimes use a ring to increase attunement slot. Overall, it's amazing

Sell sword twin blades+dark blade=greatness

I went with a chaos gem and with intelligence and faith build and I love it

I get completely BONKERS damage with this. 40 dex- 50 faith build with dark moon blade. Can switch between buff/tears build, regen build and offensive miracle build to mix things up. Lots of fun weapons.

its also amazing on faith builds since it gets s scaling with blessed or lightning infusion

This weapon's a godsend for Dex hybrid builds. My Greatsword of Judgement & Dragonslayer Swordspear mains fall back on the Astora GS all the time.

I'm a scrub and I got DS3 a few weeks ago. This is the weapon I use most of the time. The S scaling is AMAZING! Although I might need to respec, my stats are all over the place.

Been using this sword with my paladin regen build in the SL 140s since launch. Was thinking of going to SL 170 for higher dex so I can just destroy people. :3

I know this is old, and I don't know if there have been buffs or changes to the weapon and/or weapon buffs, but in my dex-int build (60+5 dex and 35 int) my sharp Astora Greatsword with CMW has 750AR. My highest damage weapon when buffed and I'm in love with it

Hey chase, could you give me your opinion on the fact that i leveld my character to 129 without knowing the meta thing? Am i really missing out on stuff if i want to focus on invasions and arena? i seem to find matches for arena quite fast anyway but maybe i have less people to invade.

Glad I'm not the only one that uses Blessed Weapon (Anything 500 AR, or above. Like the Heavy Mace, 2H with 66 Strength seems to be the break point. Unless it's Split Damage, AND Buffable. In which case, go with the same elemnet, but how many Buffable split damage weapons are there without Force Casting?) Just gonna say Herald. 2 levels higher than a Merc with the same stats, but you basically get those in Vitality, so you can have a little more Poise. There's very Very few builds where Herald is a viable class, so I like pointing out when I see one. That 12 Attunement is kinda wasted, and 8-15 Faith is a massive investment for 1 spell. Even one that pulls double duty like BW.

Best UGS in the whole souls series. I fucking love this thing!

I'm about to help a friend go through the game and I need to make a whole new build. I think I know what kinda build I'm going for now.

the charge is the easiest move to parry in whole game and people just spam it in pvp

615ar? I’m not sure if it really matters but... On my first play through of dark souls one I focused on strength and was able to get the black knight great sword at undead parish, after a few hours of using it I had finally risen to sl. 50 and I did well over 590dmg per swing. Now, I have more than fifty strength its heavy attack does dmg into the 700 to 800. Long story short: Dark souls 3: Sl.120 = 615ar Dark souls Remastered: Sl.50 = 798ar

i finally got this Blade but iam not sure what infusion it should get Sharp or Lightning iam playing a Dex/Faith and want to join the Darkmoonblades for its Buff and Beauty? I wanted Lightning first because of its S-Rank in Faith but the Wikia says that Lightning infused Weapons and other Element Infused Weapons arent able to be Buffed by Spells/Consumables so would be a Sharp Infusion better or is the Wikia not up to date?

I was actually using lighting blade on that weapon as refined , 40 dex 40 strength , 35 faith for the buff and i was getting 708 AR Now i use darkmoon blade , sharp gem with 55 dex 22 strength 45 faith an i get 803 AR

I agree that this is the best Dex weapon in DS3 the only one that rivals it is the marakumo the only reason I say it rivals It is because it has the same damage but it has worse scaling in strength but if u like the spin slash weapon are better then the charge then I should use it but because the Astora Greatsword has better Strength scaling it does slightly more damage and the charge weapon art is my favorite offensive weapon art in the game I personally use crystal weapon on it but any buff is good

@ChaseTheBro I was only getting 44 damage with R1 (using PS4), and the sword was slow as hell until I reached 16 strength. Has it just changed since this video was posted?

Is the astora ultra great sword nerfed? Because it no longer have a s scaling in dex.. it should be s scaling if you fused it with sharp right? My +10 astora only have A scaling

I wonder if I sharp infuse it and buff with darkmoon blade, 40/60/yoshka vs 60/40/canvas which one would have highest AR?

I wonder what the AR difference would be netween the 661 buff and if you put those stat points to be able to use the buff into dex instead. I think you would be saving 3 points. With s scaling ot should mke that 617 atleast 640 ish (im not sure of the returns on scaling at that high level. So im guessing) But if its close, id just go that route. Only for efficiency. If ar is still high enough to 3 shot anyway. But im loving this sword. Just started using it today. Only had enough materials to upgrade 1 weapon to +4 and i almost did lothric knight sword. Glad i chose this one. Im crushing enemies with shields when they used to crush me. (I sick at the game)

You don't need to meet talisman requirements to use blessed weapon to its full effect

I think the best dex weapon is Midir's katana, the damage and combos you can do with it, are just insane, badass, and cool looking

Just wondering, wouldn't it get a higher AR and therefore more damage (even factoring in split damage) if you have less DEX but go for 30 FTH and use Sunlight/Darkmoon Blade? I mean Blessed Weapon "only" gives ~50 AR, doesn't seem like that much of an improvement

I have a scimitar +6 sharp and it's has an S dex too and I have 45 dex and I am not LV 120 yet.

Try bleed infusion. It gives it 98 bleed proc. On people with no armor can trigger bleed in one hit.

You should infuse with sharp as early as possible. At minimum requirements it does more damage than uninfused and slightly less than raw infused.

Frayed Blade. Either that or the Lothric Knight Greatsword. LKGS is better with heavy or blessed but still hits hard with sharp. Sharp longsword and black knight shield make a good combo.

Have you tried crystal infused

Some argue the best is tge frayed blade, what do you think? can a frayed blade stand up to the Astora?

And thats one handing with shield and that low damage for that weapon and I have low stats so it can be about 1100 to 1300 ar one handing or two handed try it out

Keep upgrading it with titanite and it will eventually scale to S
