I love how respectful the Watcher is when he notices you. He's crouched in an attack position, but when he sees the Unkindled who has come to retrieve him, he bows his head gives you the Legion Etiquette, a sign that I'm sure means he intends you fight you, honorably, and he doesn't see you as some Abyss corrupted monster.

@@bosssnake1000 The abyss watchers were actually infected by the abyss. You can see black tendrils coming up their capes. They are fighting each other because they are meant to combat the abyss, but since they are all infected, it means they must kill each other as well.

Fighting the abyss watchers without the music is the equivalent to eating cereal without milk Edit: I understand that cereal is just as delicious even without milk, but you ain't getting the full experience

salmon fishman I’m guilty of that I’m afraid. I had no headphones and people were sleeping so I had no choice but to do it without sound. I still loved this fight so much, not because of the difficultly but because of how manly it was. It’s like an anime when you’re having a 1v1 with someone and they interfere so you ignore your enemy and kill them.

Such an intimidating creature. The way the Abyss Watcher turns around and looks at you with the intent to kill you after killing one of its own, then raising its weaponry slowly to signal a challenge, you can’t help but feel a bit of fear.

@@cynda1768 are you serious, the fight against Ludwig is one of, if not the best fight in bloodborne, alongside with the orphan and Gherman the first hunter. Especially in his second phase, were the music and the fight shift from insanity to clarity(not to shit on the watchers, but Ludwig has that little something that makes him better)

@@vassilisdafermos4047 yeah man I had a tough time ranking between which boss is my personal favourite from the abyss watchers and Ludwig but as time and time went on I started to appreciate ludwigs difficulty a lot! And once he got the Holy blade in his hands that was one of the best if not the best cutscene I have ever seen in video game history! And abyss watchers is a fantastic boss don’t get me wrong and I placed them 2nd Ludwigs difficulty is actually challenging! And he earns points from that, the Lore and the fairness it is the best boss in blood borne and in the souls serious in general :p *also minor question, Gehrman the first hunter or soul of cinder?

One of the best boss encounters in the entire Souls franchise, no doubt. The beautiful music combined with the boss's moveset and the fire, makes it almost into a dance, rather than a fight to the death. Not to mention the lore behind the Abyss Watchers. All of these elements just melts together and forms beautiful poetic perfection in the form of a boss encounter...

So you took out that warrior whose heavenly armoured and skilled and breathes fire with just 2 maracas?? Seems legit

I love how deeply sad and manly this fight is, they have to kill their brethren, but fulfill their duty without hesitation. The music is all the more adding to the melancholic feel and making this my favourite of all the boss fights, as it is in my opinion one with the most character.

You know things are getting serious when you encounter a boss with calm music.

yael vilchis herrera may they be remembered forever! Between this, Knight Artorias, and the Great Grey Wolf Sif, I can say that this is the best part of the entire series and one of the greatest Dark Souls stories ever told

What I love so much about the abyss watchers is that they are so honorable, like even if artorias came back and wasn't consumed by the abyss they would still fight him because they have no exceptions for anyone going in or coming out of the abyss

Except he uses a greatshield in that hand, and the Legion didn't even exist until far beyond his death. Thus, you're very incorrect about why he doesn't use Legion Etiquette. You're correct that his arm was broken though, and I shudder to think what kind of nightmare he would have been to fight if he had the use of both his arms...

Hands down the best boss fight in the SoulsBorne series, in terms of lore, epic-ness, style, and ambiance. It's a kick ass arena too.

0:25 You can see a tiny bit of his face under the metal mask when he's turning around to you.

They really helped me planing my new D&D character, a knight belonging to a ancient order of warriors, bound to erase each bit of pestilence and corruption they would come across. But now he is the last acting after the rules of the order, not stoping his rampage until he destroyed the source of what he is fighting since years.

This was one of the most memorable and fun bosses of the game for me, even after dying A LOT. The fight is so awesome and the music fits perfectly.

i love the concept of abyss watcher. They were once all brothers, but a lot of them get corrupted by abyss. And still, they fight it with all they have left, and now that i think about it, the Abyss Watcher boss, who i assume is their commander, give you his respect towards you, what shows that he is sane and not corrupt, but still fights you in order to defend the entrance to the catacumbs, where abyss begin. What means he still is on his duty, even while he fight you and because of that, after your fight against him let you know that you killed the only boss in Dark Souls 3 with good intentions and hearth

it hurt me seeing you get hit by the upward slash three times in a row.

+Mike the Man ummm first of all he didn't insult DaS3 in any way. Second, it really has some things that kinda refer to a few things in Bloodborne. The Watcher's attire (especially the mask), the flame trails, the blood healing and finally, the way the Watcher stares at you as soon as you get into the room. Those refer to the Hunter's Attire, Lady Maria, The Old Blood and maybe Father Gascoigne respectively :/

An easy boss fight but one of my favorite. The boss design and his moves. The cinematics. Sounds of sword clashing. The music is amazing and add so much to the scene. I love it.

Man I've seen and fought this boss so many times but that 2nd animation where he gets up off the ground always gives me shivers

Don't know what's more badass in this video, fighting the abyss watchers with fire infusion twin hammers, or fighting the first phase without relying on the 3rd watcher to draw aggro

I love how the fire trails behind the main watcher in his second phase. Fucking love his move set as well. Definitely one of my favourite fights in the souls series.

My gosh the music that plays during this boss fight sends chills down my spine, especially when the deep choir start singing

This was the best boss battle in my life. It ended and I was begging for more. The intensity, the atmosphere, the music, the challenge. Absolutely perfect.

One of the most amazing and memorable boss fight I ever had - still in my memories after a few years. The music, the introduction, the sadness, the raw brutality and beauty. A true Dark Souls moment.

This fight was soo epic both to fight it and to watch it, its simply amazing! :D

This boss is definitely one of my favorite encounters of all time. Love how he walks to you at the beginning of both stages.

Definitely my favourite boss fight in DS3. I may have died to the watchers a lot but they gave me a massive thrill both fighting and ending. Some bosses have come close like Champion Gundyr and Aldrich but none will triumph the Abyss watchers

I'll never get over how awesome the fire buff looks, both on the armor and on the sword. If I could fight with a magic fire sword, this is how I would want it to look.

Nice job matching the music with cutscene

The first time I heard the clanging of their swords outside the chambers was the time I realised it was time to fight the someone from the undead legion, a lord of cinders. This would always be my favourite boss fight. The music, the human-like moves and the lore made it seem so much more enjoyable. I fought the other lords clenching my teeth and dying 8-10 times but I only fought the abyss watchers once and won in the first try. That makes it bittersweet for me. 😭😭 The only way I could fill that sadness was wearing the armor set and I did so, for the whole game

That moment when he catches on fire and rises up… that climax of the music… too epic

it's like the abyss watcher's are at they're last will but one still stands..refusing to give up and die just for one last bit he gains the energy he needs from his comrades.. as he raises his sword and dagger and fights for the dying will he has left truly beautiful

2:50 it was at this moment the unkindled knew... he had f%cked up

God I fucking love this fight. The abyss watchers truly are epic in every way, plus that soundtrack though! So fucking cool!

Decided to buy the game solely because of this fight. Coupled with the stunning soundtrack, it is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in gaming.

​@@Ryzen1 It was really hard at first, and I even rage quit a few times, but the game would stick in my mind and I'd think "if at that second I'd rolled right, I'm sure I would've dealt a different blow that could've helped me win..." and I'd just think hard about the fights and decided to come back minutes later. When I finally got to this fight it was amazing. Totally worth investing time in lol will replay it when I have enough time!

Recently replayed Dark Souls III for Elden Ring hype. Got to this boss and had completely forgotten how sad it was. They, one of the greatest military forces of that era, are just killing each other... over and over again...

Just came here after realizing the backround ambience you hear at the very very beginning is the same audio from the phonograph alarm thing in the Duke's Archives.

Very cool video! I wish we had one like this for Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3.

I’m noticing that’s a recurring theme in Dark Souls; many bosses aren’t in their prime or at the height of their power when you fight them; Gwyn is the lord of Cinder instead of lord of sunlight. Artorias with his broken arm. The Witch of Izalith deformed into the Bed of Chaos. Gherman in Bloodborne, wheelchair bound and limping.

This boss is incredible. Nothing less than amazing. I've watched this fight over and over again.

This boss is one of my fav bosses i ever fighted, thanks for the 4K 60 FPS Fight.

the music makes me want to cheer for the watchers to be honest

They should have spawned endlessly during the first phase. Maybe one awakens every 45 seconds. They fight each other a bit, when you stray too far from them, and maybe they give an initial impression that you could cheese the fight by just letting them all kill each. But when the main dude's health drops to maybe 40%, they stop fighting each other and look straight at you.
