Part of the reason is blue is associated with the vishuddhi chakra. That's why Shiva, Krishna or Vishnu and sometimes Rama are shown as being blue. That's also the reason Shiva is neelakantha because the vishuddhi is in the pit of the throat... I know this is just comedy but just FYI

Hypocrisy is that people who themselves are dark skinned will criticize others. If u are a girl( from South also) even a little bit of increased melanin might decrease ur chances of getting married( by arranged marriage). I've seen this firsthand. 🙁🙁🙁 Extra facts : People with high level of melanin have extra protection against skin cancer and other UV rays related diseases.
