Okay...I'll describe two scenarios. I went to a dermat for a prescription for my oily acne prone skin which was inflamed. Now when I went to a dermat in a metro city like hi fi types...he suggested all that, he's like you may have pcod, you gotta do this you gotta do that bla bla. He scared me. Now when I went to my old school doctor who's very very qualified and is extremely experienced but is now practising in a small town he just gave me two or three meds..... Totally different scenarios and the best part...2nd one worked for me. Ans- Stronger laser treatments such as complete facial resurfacing with CO2 laser should be avoided in darker skin types due to the risk of hyperpigmentation and scarring.

Yes . Medicines and ointments, serums and scrubs costing more than rupees 10000 excluding peel and laser ( My experience after visiting a few high-end Derma clinics in New Delhi , near about 5 years ago.

Yes very true I went to many dermatologist and I was just having few acne it wasn’t much and they all wanted me to go for lazer. I’m sharing one story of one doctor. When she said me about lazer after that I told her I didn’t want to go for it as no one goes for lazer if we just have one or two acne 🤦🏻‍♀️and then she gave me tretinoin and then I told her to give me a sunscreen which will be suitable for sensitive skin as I wasn’t able to find one for myself then she said it’s not necessary to apply sunscreen I was in shock that she doesn’t even have basic knowledge that she is telling me to apply tretinoin and saying sunscreen isn’t necessary, just imagine🙃. And it’s not about India this story is of Qatar as I live in Qatar well not all maybe same but majority of the dermatologist these days are just about money. Hope they genuinely do their job instead of just taking benefit.

I feel I am very lucky to find a great dermatologist in Bangalore whose consulting fee is not so costly and whatever he recommends are low end ( cost wise ) pharma products and asked me not to use any serums or sunscreen ( still doubtful) and told me to cover myself and avoid sun at all costs.

While you're talking about capitalism and money minded perception, i have had countless encounters where doctors are not ready to even listen properly and give you sufficient time, I remember the time i went to a dermat because acne and hair fall took a toll on my mental health, and after following up basic conversation, she literally said "there are much bigger problems in world to cry about rather than having acne", i was on verge of tears at the hospital but sucked it up and put on poker face till i got out. I just hope , doctors are more sympathetic and patient with their patients rather than belittling them and making them feel more bad about themselves😕

I used to feel so good about myself and my body until i started using instagram. I still compare myself to the people who i see on the internet but i always remind myself that these are filters or they are catfishing etc. When i first heard about these treatments i asked a question to myself "Is a pretty face is all a human is worth of ?" And not gonna lie the pretty privilege is actually there coming from a girl who herself experienced it who falls under a certain "Indian beauty standard" created by so called people who think they are only people who can make such category. I am learning and enhancing myself and my body every day not for people to look at me but to actually make me feel good about myself.
