College life;
1. Very few people are interested in actual machineries & very few colleges have the updated machineries.- College should have it since it is taking 2 lakhs per year for btech.
2. Placement issues- Company's wont take even if you are having KT in 1 subject when they appear. That subject maybe totally useless to them.
3. Whole paradigm shift in college- Hostel can make you alcoholic or can make you have placement or both. Have to really study a lot.
Job searching life;
1. Even after passing out with Govt. approved degree & STCW courses which are dg shipping approved, agents take 4-6 lakhs from the cadets. so 12 lakh fees + 2 lakhs personnel use for 4 years & + 6 lakhs= 20 lakhs
2. Not many jobs in market, market is very bad for junior engineer & cadets. But their are vacancies at higher level.
Sailing Life;
1. **Work conditions**; Depending on the ship, owner & Management company you get the ship. Unless you have very good connection, you can not choose the vessel. Bad company results in hazardous & unsafe working conditions. Good company take care of safety checklist but not their employees, they just take safety for granted. 10,000$ quotations leads to 2500 $ of required machineries. In this situation sometimes it is unsafe working practices. You need to be very conscious while working with machineries which are having safety valves specially steam lines and pressurized containers. Not like 9-5 job unless your ship is unmanned & even in UMS not every owner allows ship to be in UMS. then you have to follow watchkeeping schedule which is very tiring. In case of emergency or may occur emergency-Obviously you have to do a lot of physical work.

How to tackle these issues?
1. work & study hard
2. Stay focused & disciplined.
3. Enjoy whenever & wherever possible & start having a social life.
4. Try to detach from the internet world, start meditating.
5. Know your human rights and tell your families about the right of sailors.
6. Do not hide any depressing situation from your family.
7. Know how to manage money well.
8. Use reference not agents & always check company’s reviews.
