Dark Shadows Original 1966 ABC Promos: The Real Thing
Years ago I recreated a few of these original ABC promos for Dark Shadows, but now the real promos are available on the recently released Blu-Ray set "Master of Dark Shadows." The promos began airing in early June 1966 as ABC began promoting its new Gothic soap opera. I was 9 years old, saw the promos, and had to tune in. Since they were all shot on film and on location, I didn't know that Dark Shadows was a soap opera until I tune in to Episode 1. I was a little disappointed that it was a soap, but it hooked me in two minutes!
Sorry for the shaky camera. It's the only way I knew how to upload these promos for everyone to see. Maybe someone with more technical expertise can upload them from the actual Blu-Ray discs.

I was only 8 days old when Dark Shadows premiered. If I'm up late at night, I'll watch it on Decades. It's a classic.
Barnabas saved them all from cancellation. But Willie gets the assist since he was jewelry hungry and opened that coffin.

Pluto reruns this show..Thanks for the upload !! The Newport Mansions were used for the exterior shots !!
This show inspired me to start reading gothic novels!!!!
I enjoyed those old promos. Narrator sounded a bit like Orson Welles but I doubt they had the budget to hire him LOL

Yes. Collinwood sounds more mysterious and Gothic doesn't it.

Collins house? Guess they hadn't named it CollinWOOD yet?

That’s right. It was changed to Collinwood shortly before the first episode was taped. It was called Collins House in early scripts and promos.
