Blake Crouch's best selling book is now a show starring Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly. The show was adapted by Crouch himself, so should we assume the show will be faithful to the book...?

Thanks for covering this! I've been on the fence about watching the show, but I'll definitely watch your videos comparing it to the book lol. Just realized the author is the same author of Wayward Pines, which I remember liking though I never did read past bk 1. 🤔

I've heard great things about Wayward Pines! But still haven't gotten around to it.

@@WhytheBookWins It's been a pretty long times I checked my goodreads review on bk 1 (back when I used to write bk reviews, so nostalgic!) and I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. Apparently, I loved Ethan, like a lot lol. It was an odd story where not much happened but might be worth checking out when you get the chance. I had fun comparing it to the first season of the tv show.

I think it's amazing Jason A was in World B for like TWO DAYS, and instantly made Daniela B fall in love with him all over again. MEANWHILE, slowly Jason B is screwing up his SECOND ATTEMPT at holding onto Daniela with Daniela A as he bails on Max's birthday tree time, and his disregard for communication like for example when he says "Relationships are a negotiation and whoever talks first loses." It's so funny when Destiny unravels life for you without you even grasping what's happening. Jason B doesn't realize his state of mind is why he can never TRULY have his love with Daniela whether it's Daniela A or B. In regards to Jason B & Jason A's awareness of their Theories being real or realized, it's obvious Jason A would have trouble grasping the concept because THINK about it; HOW LONG did it actually take JASON B to figure out the elements of the BOX followed by CREATING the Box. IT likely took YEARS at least, meanwhile Jason A is taking a crash course with REAL LIFE experiences inside the box, Jason B had the chance to experiment with OTHERS first, then he went in himself. Jason A I would think is the SHARPER one because he's learning the workings of the Multiverse in LESS time while experiencing it FIRST HAND, i'd say his knowledge and understanding is on a deeper level then Jason B.

Yeah the show is so interesting how Jason 2/Jason B is loosing Daniela anyway because he doesn't know how to be happy with the "simple" life. Even though I have my complaints with the length of the show, I am loving seeing what is happening with Jason 2 because that wasn't something we got in the book.

Never read the book (or seen the show) but I do hear it's a lot like Sliders (favorite show I used to watch back in the 90s.)

At 6:20 you mentioned that Ryan was killed, but in the show they said “come with us” and that was all we saw of that Ryan. I’m guessing it was implied he died? Which is weird because why show us them killing Daniela, but not Ryan? Great video Btw!

Let's be honest.. 500 pages for example, turned into 9 Hour TV shows.. isn't a horrible ratio.. I mean if you can read a book in 9 hours then 9 hours adapted is a decent trade.. 90-120 minutes VS 9 Hours is a very BIG gap, and that could lead to information being MISSED. I don't know about you, but i'd rather details be explained in extended detail rather then details being MISSED due to not enough time being put into the adaptations run time.

A 500 page book makes more sense to be a show, but even then I'm sure a filmmaker could find a way to translate it into a 2-2.5 hour movie. That's part of the beauty of the adaptation process, needing to find a way to convey the book into a different medium where you do more showing not telling and can't have every single detail. And if movie watcher's a curious about some extra detail, they can read the book after 😏

Hard agree that they did not need nine one-hour episodes to tell this story. I just checked, the audiobook is only ten hours long. They did not need nine hours of television to adapt a ten hour book. A fast reader might actually finish the book faster than the show!
