Yeah Enerjak is weird, he was once a person but is now more of a force that exists and can inhabit hosts.

Ngl, i feel bad for knuckles. He spent so long as enerjak and couldn’t do anything about it.

they really did go all out when making Dark Enerjak

The memories... This Sonic Universe arc has to be my favorite. And that panel with knuckles and all the fallen characters is legendary

The lore of this guy is definitely complex but I still really like it

This guy is a huge problem that people had to work together to take him down in both timelines Main: Sonic went Super while Eggman was draining Enerjak's power, and that echidna sacrificed himself to save Knuckles Dark: Silver and the guy with Sword of Acorns teamed up

A good mini recap!

That was interesting. I like how truly bizarre those comics were and how it made Sonic really dark for whatever weird reason. Definitely makes the setting more interesting (imagine if Nintendo were to let someone come along and do that with Mario, Zelda, and/or their other IPs. That would be funny). Imagine just how magical it would be if the Knuckles Paramount Plus show was an adaptation of Ken Penders fever dreams.

One of the most fascinating things to me that really got my attention as a kid was just how much creative freedom Archie had over Sonic which made for some admittedly bad stories but also created some really interesting plots and characters. It's rally a shame that SEGA won't be touching any of this in the future because I think a lot could be adapted into interesting stuff!

Yeah that is really too bad. Nintendo did a similar thing with their spinoff Mario rpgs where at first the companies making them had a lot of freedom for the stories and enemies they could add. But that all changed when Nintendo wanted to homogenize their brand and that’s why the stuff they make now is super bland in comparison. It would be funny if in a hypothetical adaptation of those comics they would have the art style be super inconsistent as a way to match the fever dream visuals of the actual comics since multiple people were illustrating them. It’s funny how the comics range from being beyond hideous to looking really good. Too bad they don’t let the artists make stuff look super ugly like they used to.

@@shreksnow1918 I would give a substantial amount of money to Nintendo if people behind the superstar saga (and the other Mario and Luigi games after that) or the first two paper Mario games could make a comic with the same creative freedom.

@Fantastic Samtastic I’m with you on that. Either of those would be truly amazing (I’d bump it up to first 3 Paper Mario games because Super Paper Mario has a pretty crazy story. So glad I played that one as a kid). It’s a tragedy they aren’t allowed to do anything like that anymore. That shows that there is a lot of room for storytelling in Mario but Nintendo unfortunately doesn’t want that.

Mario is alright the way it is because Mario was made to be fun and Sonic was made to be better than Mario. Also there were plenty of dark moments in Mario games, Mario and Luigi and paper Mario.

Ironic that in the Dark Mobius dimension Finitevus gets his soul ripped out.

This quite a good summary I've seen for dark enerjak However I believe there were a few things that could've been pointed out as well The 200 years future silver is in is actually the canon future, it's not an alternate one but it's actually the one that happens in the prime zone, it's just that silver goes back and forth in time so much that he's become desynced and he was able to check dark mobius (which was an alternate future zone) because dark enerjak wanted to conquer the multiverse (which makes me wonder if the zone cops weren't at war with nega wouldn't this have counted as a zone level crime/threat?) Anyway this was more or less of a clarification so people wouldn't confuse silver in the dark mobius arc to be a different version or something like that and that this wasn't the point the video was discussing But for dark enerjak I think there could've been more to explain for how this universe came to be In the now defunct archie sonic blog, there was a mini series that Ian Flynn posted called "Dark Mobius : Knuckles' Descent" which explained the origins of dark enerjak and it's quite different from the prime zone version enerjak knuckles So basically, Dark mobius had an almost identical sequence of events to the original prime zone until one key difference, and that was the event in issue 106-109 where chaos knuckles was shot and presumed dead In the prime zone nothing major happened but in dark mobius timeline knuckles was very enraged that dimitri and the high council of echidnapolis only used his death as some excuse for political discussions, and the result of that was the union between the echidnas and dark legion and disbanding the dark legion altogether but despite that there was still some classism where still referred to each others as either ex-legionnaires and original echidnapolis citizens, this made chaos knuckles extremely angry and that started his downward spiral to insanity Because he believed he had thw power he took control of angel island, rebranded the dark legion as his force that he led and set out to rule the world because he believed he could bring order to it And everyone who opposed him was either wrong or jealous He thinks that sonic was only jealous of him because dark enerjak was able to kill eggman and not sonic He reached his breaking point when julie su left him with his child lara su and went against him Also there was an explanation that the reason knuckles took up the name enerjak was that he wanted to use the name in a more "positive light" and that since he was going to establish a new order he would need a new name and picked enerjak You can check the story if you want, just Google "Knuckles' Descent" and yiu can find it on the way back machine because it's archived there or you can akso find it in the gallery section of Sonic News Network wiki Also I just wanted to add one minor detail Finetivus' corruption is a bit different from enerjak's The original enerjak got corrupted because ofnhis greed in the chaos force, and ever since that he possesses any echidna who harnesses alot of chaos energy Finetivus om the other hand got corrupted because of some sort of "photonegative" energy of chaos knuckles, basically a "negative chaos energy" if that makes sense And so that's the key difference between the two Also jani-jak os the official name Idk if fans called her that online first but jani jak is the name used on the sonic comic encyclopedia on the page talking about Dark Mobius (it's page 121 if you're wondering)

I appreciate all the extra info! I kinda misworded my Silver stuff but I seem to remember his future being in flux because of him going to the past and altering things but tbht that might be a misremember on my end. Thanks for everything though that you mentioned

@@FantasticSamtastic no that's actually true Events of silver's future are always changing because he tampers with the past, but that same future is the most "canon" future because it's in the prime zone and it's prime silver Unlike light and dark mobius which were confirmed to be alternate future zones (also there's another alternate future which is the one where Nicole and robo robotnik "eggman" came from, that was also a different zone) But yeah silver's future is based on the same zone as sonic's prime zone

Sick video! Though I do have to say, Super Sonic was in the end winning against Enerkak with him being invincible, but sadly we never got to see the entire fight through

Enerjak is probably the best thing the Sonic Archie come up with. The level of weed and bs Enerjak has is as much as non sensical and badass i can't stop loving it. Even more the last one as well.

@@FantasticSamtastic agree on that. It's depending on how everyone see it. At least is the only thing from the Knuckle's saga despite the level of convoluted bs it has due Pender's writting.

Such a good video, I just discovered your channel! I may be one of the few people to tolerate Kender’s writing, but I’d argue that Enerjak was utilized far better by Flynn, which is such a cold take at this point. I’d love to see a video covering either the Endangered Species arc!

Tbh penders did a good job from a big picture perspective, he had decent set up ideas and where he wanted them to go but on an issue to issue basis he struggled

6:52 Who actually day viewed very early in the comics when I think Remington was assumed as the villain or whatever. I don’t remember a lot about the issue. That it related Remington.

@@FantasticSamtastic You’re one of the few people on youtube that talk pretty in depth about this comic, at least as far as I’m aware. I’ve only ever experienced bits and pieces (mostly through Sonic Universe storylines like Silver Saga or Shadow Saga, or me actually starting to read them close to when Metal Sally happened) but I still know so much more about it cause of your big explanation videos.
