My wife and I are camping in a cave tonight. We have severe thunderstorms and Tornado warnings, so we are in the cave. It has a big old wood stove two very nice twin beds and all the amenities, Coffee, food, snacks. Best storm shelter around. And besides we can watch the storm and listen to the thunder. It's great. Trouble is we eat dinner and after about 15 minute the storm puts us to sleep.

Perfect opening music for a slog through the rain.

In my 67 years, the most ferocious storms that I have ever lived through, apart from hurricanes, came last week. The heavy rain was pummeling my door and coming through the window mullions and from under the door. My well built house is too high to flood, thank God. Lightening kept exploding, 60 mile an hour wind brought large trees down, power out two days. I was inside my house when the thunder sounded right beside me. Maybe climate change.

I like the calm ambiance the serene music adds. A comment on your set up placement. You have stated before why you prefer separating tarp and tent locations. I'm not even there, but it really makes me uncomfortable. Almost edgy. With the heavy rain your tent will likely get drenched inside. Will you ever get over this? Sleeping wet will bring on some kind of illness for me every time. There have to be others like me. I'm tough, except for that one thing!

Happened to me on more than one occasion. Can't always have spot where you can pitch a tent and tarp together. Brought back some good and funny memories.😂🤣

Perhaps you could put the tent partially under the tarp to avoid being soaked.

The video reminds me of the term, "If it ain't raining, you ain't training." Brings me back to the times of sleeping in a slit trench, wondering why I was here. I look back at it fondly now.

I always wonder why you put your tent so far away from your workspace. Especially when you know it's going to rain, it needs to be closer. If I had both tarp & tent, the tarp would be my front room covering my vestibule, so the two would be connected. That way, you keep the rain (and mud) out of your tent. Something to think about.

I always assumed it was so that he is cooking in a different area than where he sleeps to avoid animals waking him up.

Most camping videos I’ve watched, the campers have the tent opening partially under the tarp. Luke never does that.

If he was testing the tent, he needed it fully exposed. And I am pretty sure he knew it would leak. He was definitely better hanging out under the tarp. Bushnell makes good optics. And should stick to it lol!

Nice video Luke.. I would’ve enjoyed it if I was in the same spot. Sleeping in the chair wouldn’t be very comfy, but a person can sleep ok. That first cup of coffee in the morning had to taste great. Take care………

You usually have an extra tarp. Were you testing the tent for leaks? Why didn't you set another tarp over the tent so you could get into it? Just asking, not criticizing. Aah! Just saw the test results at the end. Now I know why the 2nd tarp wasn't an option.

That Bushnell 1-Person tent is no longer available on Amazon. I like that its outer rain shell goes all the way to the ground. I was surprised to see that Butane stove is a Soto product. I like the round feet on that chair. Ponchos may be considered "old school", however, they work & mine comes down to my ankles. Seems like that rain fly, all the way to the ground, didn't do its job. You need to watch his 'Outdoor Gear Review' channel to hear him talk and review equipment. This channel is just to enjoy a quiet night of camping, sounds of nature, and outdoor peace.

The only way possible without getting soaked, would be to have tent under canopy. Good you at least had a tarp, or you would've been drenched!!! I'd say this outing was a fail 🙄

Depends WHAT you cook. If you are frying bacon, I wouldn’t cook it by my tent. Freeze dried meals are a different story, but when you are done eating, the packaging still should be packed away in an air tight container. He always has the capability to protect himself.

Hey man I envy you but it's of no use I'm 68 and my doctor doesn't recommend camping in pouring rain

I watch in awa you skills and balance abilities, but I do so miss your information and simplicity of what is and what is not , not to be rude but why can’t the viewers that want the quite place just turn the volume down , just saying your information is informative and enjoyable

I love your videos but the rain (all the time) gets boring! I love camping in the rain but not everytime!
