A diploma in Kenya means nothing in the US. My dad moved here with a green card in his 40s and couldn't handle it. He went right back to kenya. I on the other hand, I'm still here- i work as a nurse in an assisted living(most people in assisted livings can take care of themselves). Nursing is not for the faint at heart- there's a lot of $ in it but it's not by force you can always go back to school and do another course. 18yrs later i still love the US, i travel to Kenya yearly I get best of both worlds i guess. My advice to anyone looking to relocate, if you are doing good in Kenya- stay there, if you are struggling and get a chance to leave- do so knowing that you will have to work HARD!

Your guest, Lilly Richards, was practical, realistic, and down-to-earth. Her advice should help those hoping to make the journey to prepare properly, be ready to work hard, and NOT to expect streets paved with gold or free money for all new arrivals. Her multiple entrepreneurial initiatives are highly commendable. Her advice to plan and implement far in advance of need to invest in land and real estate back home is very, very, very wise (Of course everyone needs to do their own due diligence in matters of investments, particularly in land and real estate). Very astute lady! Thanks Mr, Chamwada

That's exactly where I started when I came to America. I didn't like my job at first but eventually loved it so much that I ended up becoming a manager and running the group home myself. I left 10 years later but I still miss the guys I worked with.

I will be visiting a country in West Africa in 2022... and then a country in East Africa in 2023... I gave up on the United States of America a long time ago.

That’s the main reason why most immigrants mostly get into nursing because then you can work overtime with good pay. Imagine someone going to school 4 years for finance, and coming again to work in direct care cleaning old men and women?

When people say they don't take credits from Kenya, they are just telling half the truth They do take the credits you just have to know how to maneuver in the system. They might not take all of them but they take credits. But it's a land where one has to hustle.
