At this point in the season, Daria is usually on pretty good form. Great effort from Kostyuk to go toe-to-toe against the 6th seed and give herself a chance in the 3rd. Costly mistakes lost her the 2nd set.

Well done Dasha. She played superb in this match. Dasha played very smart and kept Kostyuk at bay and fought very hard in this match and deservedly for the 2nd consecutive time defeated Marta Kostyuk. Daria Kasatkina was awesome despite making 8 double faults. Her serve was on point when it needed to be. Marta Kostyuk also played great, but Daria Kasatkina was little bit better this time. Kasatkina's experience was the deciding factor in this match.

How hard is it to pronounce the player name correctly? She is Kasátkina. Those commentators are never able to get the emphasys right for Russian players and never bother to check with the natives on how to pronounce the name correctly. Just shows the level of respect. She's a disgrace and she behaves in an unsportsmanlike manner.

Kostyuk is a great athlet, but according to the highlights it seems she is not moving the opponent.

It is more of an acheivement. She is very short in a sport where height is an advantage. Just persuading a ball to dip into the service court from the point at which she is serving is an achievement. Have a look at the closing pictures where she can be seen in comparison to Petra Martic and the net.

Always a pleasure watching Kostyuk lose

Marta has made herself to be disliked because she does not respect her opponents the same way and WTA has no "work place" policy to stop this behavior. I am not sure if this negative energy is impacting her personal life, but it is definitely affecting her professional life. Maybe she can start changing by keeping politics out of the court. The WTA and the ATP should be ashamed of themselves for their continued childish behavior by not showing the flags of the Russian players. We all know that there is a war going on but what does that have to do with the players from Russia? Are they supporting it? Have they went and fought in it? The answer to both of those questions is no and they need to be treated just like every other player. In fact, if the Ukrainian players don't want to shake their hands at the end of a match then they should be suspended. Perhaps the WTA and ATP should stop listing the flags of the Chinese players since their governments are providing support to the Russians. Enough already.
