Dara was a hero for Hindus. He translated hindu scriptures like Vedas, Upanishads, ramayan mahabharat in Persian. He even participated in our festival like holi and diwali. He even interested in hindu temples. He was great❤️❤️❤️

We owe a lot to Dara Shikho who translated ower Ancient Vedas into Persian which was tranlated into Latin in Europe then French & German & craze was born amongst the intellectuals of Europe to learn Sanskrit! Now every German Sanskrit learning Institute is lacking Sanskrit teacher's, the demand is great like the noble soul Dara Shikho!

Dara was a curious man. And he was interested in different different philosophies. He was not bound in a single piece of faith which was very dangerous for a prince whose background is abrahmic. And Dara paid the price with his life.

One of the true secular figures in indian history

India missed a chance in history when dara shikoh missed his chance at the throne.....he was a true gentleman, a noble man, a pious man.....

But you should remember that Dara Suko was not interested on to be a strong Badsha of India. Aurangzeb had been rule from 1658 to 1707 and he known as a strong Badsha .He fight against all kind of problems very strongly. Dara was not eligible to be a good king . It was good for mughal king Dom.

@@indranilmukherjee592 I strongly recommend you to read history....there were 2 battles between Aurangzeb and Darashiko which clearly indicate that he was interested in the mughal throne....2ndly dara was the first choice of shah jahan due to that reason Aurangzeb imprisoned Shah jahan after ascending to the throne....3rdly dara shikoh had a huge respect among many hindu kingdoms due to his inclusive and tolerant thinking which would have strengthened mughal kingdom further by creating allies if he would have ascended the throne......on the other hand Aurangzeb was a radical man with expansionist thinking, cruel intentions and heavy inclination toward forceful implementation of Islam...he was intolerant due to which a no. of rebels emerged in different parts of the country against mughal empire.... as a result mughal empire was defeated by Marathas in the south, Chhatrasal in central region, Ahom kingdom in the northeast.....Durgadas rathore also posed a feared resistance to Aurangzeb in Rajputana...as a result Aurangzeb policies led to a swift decline in the strength of Mughal empire....

@@speedstar6140 i dont agree with you ofcourse he fought two battles with but he was a weak prince who had no experience of administration ruling and warefare while his brothers ruled provinces as governors and fought wars Dara wasted himself in his lavish palaces of Dehli only interested in philosophy. He lost the battle of samugarh only due to his incompetence despite the fact that he had more men and the support of ShahJehan. Further more you mention that he was chosen by ShahJehan that doesn't mean anything, ShahJehan should have remembered how he got the throne by killing every male member of the Mughal family even his brother the harmless blind prince khusrau, ShahJehan had himself set a precedent that in order to live and survive you had to eliminate your rivals 3rd you said Aurangzeb was anti Hindu, I don't agree with that most of his courtiers were hindus further more 6 of his 11 generals were hindus but aurangzeb was only branded as anti Hindu due to his wars against Marathas which has been branded by some Hindus nationalists as war between Hindus and Muslim but the truth is that they were just rival powers fighting for dominance of India

@@harisisrarkhan4320 you should learn history about what he did to raja jaswant singh...who was pivotal in safeguarding the entire north eastern frontier of india....he wrecked not one but 11 pivotal temples of india.....he tried hard to ground the entire ajanta elora temple but failed.....he was the most anti hindu mughal and that was the reason that brought once mighty mughal empire to its feet....you can ignore the truth but you can't hide it...

This way of teaching ! i am amazed by the way BBC imparts knowledge to the common people. I found this news channel to be beneficial for Competitive Exams. First time i saw Jadugoda Tailing Ponds Story in their News App after that i subscribed them on KZread Thanks BBC.

They were four brothers. It is said that had been killed or expelled from India. Total number of children were 14 from one woman, Mumtaz Mahal. After the death of Mumtaz Mahal, Shah Jahan was out of politics and he spent 21 long years to build Taj Mahal.He prefered Dara Shiko to the throne. The emperor was alive when his other sons were eliminated.

Very sad part of history in Dara Shihku to be killed by his own brother for the crown, life is full of such atrocities in the name of greed, a brother can kill his sibling, this is how terrifying Mogul history is

@A Sramana No he couldn't because he wasn't a military expert like Aurangzeb.And if Dara shukoh became the king and he prolonged the islamic rule then I think it would have been a different one cuz he was pluralist and tolerant towards other religions like Akbar and there would have been no Islamophobia in our subcontinent or I think anywhere in the world because his Mughal kingdom would have been the beacon of Islamic tolerance and sophistication

But yes, Mughal rule would have become more stable under him due to less military conflicts and the British may have not have been able to exploit the lack of unity amongst Hindustanis. Marathas also would not have been as belligerent towards the Mughals. But alas history is history.

He believed it's his duty to look after his subjects and when his subjects also comprised of Hindu he helped Hindu too. Yes he destroyed temples also jahan galat kaam hote the. Jahan pujari aurton ko rape karte the. Jaise Kashi Vishwanath temple.

Their child hood must be something where all the brothers knew that only one of them is going to live. Shah Jahan even killed his cousins and brother -in-laws to eliminate any dissent.

A pure preconceived biase is coming out here about BBC. I assume that this video was enjoyed ? Was it a bad video? An opinion should be judged on the content provided and be revised accordingly. It can not be kept same forever. Just like Durdarshan of Congress or UPA time can not be same as of now, how can BBC stay the same. Staff of BBC and its director keep changing.The input for videos comes from a variety of sources and great number of people ( content managers) choose the content to publish. In case of history, most of it can be cross checked online itself, if one were to make effort.

Had the Mughal king being weak like Dara the British would have taken control in 1600s and beaten Dara like they did during the battle of Buxor in 1750s but the British attempt against Aurangzeb failed in 1686 when the east India company under Sir Josiah Child made the mistake to challenge Aurangzeb they were humiliated and defeated and they had to bow down at his feat to ask his forgiveness Please search Child's War 1686

You are right Dara was a spiritual person a philosopher who was interested in faith and art but still he was a weak Prince he had no experience of an administrator, governance and warefare as was required of a king. I still believe Aurangzeb as more capable than him and in race for kingship only the most capable wins.

We respect Dara's philosophy who believes in universal brother hood unlike Aurangzeb or present Aurangjeb inherited maniac mentalities... And Aurangzeb died a Dog's death. Muslim Brotherhood needs to be aware of these important issues for their salvation

In the siege of chittorgarh 1567-68 Akbar killed 40000 hindus in Rajasthan..he divided the Rajputs..stop calling him great..Ashoke or Kanishka was great ruler

दारा शिकोह के बारे में आपने बिल्कुल ठीक कहा है । परन्तु दारा शिकोह एक शहंशाह के महल में पैदा हुआ, फिर भी वह अपने पिछले कर्म-संस्कारों के कारण अल्लाह, ईश्वर को जानने में सफल रहा , तथा दीन दयाल के समान बादशाहों का भी बादशाह हो गया । ईश्वर अल्लाह को मानने वालों के हृदय में दारा शिकोह आज भी जीवित है ।
