Danny Rodrigues: Impossible Is Nothing

My tribute to the only man who can do Victorian Cross on still rings. His routines are always amazing!
Music is composed by Clint Mansell. The song is called "Death is the Road to Awe" and it is from Darren Aronofsky's movie, The Fountain.
Why I used mainstream marketing slogan for Adidas? To prove that if you get rid of all that bullshit you have in your head telling you that you aren't good enough, you will be able to achieve anything!

Maltese is a D skill, Inverted is a C skill. Victorian Cross is a super E skill (harder than E and obviously harder than D and C). Victorian Cross was actually thought to be humanly impossible at one point.

@Lancinator1 He rarely gets major deductions on his victorian, if any. He has the best victorian in the world in most experts opinions. Oh and he came 5th in 2008 Beijing olympic finals, so look that up before you comment.

Danny Rodrigues is one of my favorites on rings and I've been a fan of the victorian since it was first put into the F.I.G Code of Points back in 1993 (when E valued skills were added). I have some exercises for a victorian along with some rings tutorials and fitness workouts on my channel if anyone would like to check them out (thanks).

thank you. my life is complete lol. it's not exactly the same because he ends in an inverted cross and doesn't push out to handstand, but obviously the guy could push up if he felt like it. it's probably worth the same, that's why he just stays in the cross. i think i need to find a current copy of the USAG skills book because to find something else no one has done yet.

@zuevaxcy23its based on points. point are given for each move. you get points depending on the difficulty of the move and form. A moves = 0.1 points B=0.2 and to E=0.6. so u wont win by doing only A (easy) moves. in danny's case he doesn't have the hardest routine, but his form is good. he does have a few B's in his routine (uprise fwd to L and L press handstand) while his opponents have harder moves in total. danny does however do the victorian(E), but the points dont add up to the others.

@Sinjid142 how is gymnastics "scored"? Is it who can do the hardest moves/combos? Or who can do the routine with the best form? I mean could you win with just doing an easy, basic routine with the best form while everyone is trying more harder and intense routines with satisfactory but not perfect form? Is that what happened here with Danny? Hardest routine, but not the best form?

  • @coldnate

one time in gym, we were looking through the USAG book figuring out what we should put in our class 1 routines for the upcoming season. we came across two things that we deemed impossible after trying them a few times - the victorian, and one other thing doesn't have a name that i know of. you start with a hang under the rings, then pull through an iron cross, up through a maltese, and straight body press to handstand. it was a Super E. I'd like to see it in London. anyone know the name?

This guy can't even hold it why does he use it in competition! No one has ever done a Victorian; even Victorian himself! If you're doing it correctly your arms should be under your back and you should be arched, not hollow. Don't give this guy any credit.
