Tool's songs are hard to count. Not the usual 4/4. Lot of respect to Danny for keeping the beat 👌 And the beat at 11:44 just blow my mind.. like his brain's split in two different times 😆 TX from Québec Canada 🇲🇶🇨🇦🤟

9:55 - Tool songs are created by Danny Carey (drums), Justin Chancellor (bass) and Adam Jones (guitar). After they are done with the music, Maynard James Keenan (singer) writes the lyrics to them and voilá!

The great thing about Tool is each member is as important as the other 3. 4 in total Maynard for the majority of their time on stage over the years has often been to the side rear of the stage, unlike most singers who stand in the front. This allows the focus to be on all the members. This song has an insane time signature, which can be hard to follow especially when heard through the video so close to the drums.

This is one of the more interesting reactions out there. I like observing how the smile grows on the girl's face at he beginning. You sure look like true sceptics - you question the role of the drummer, but you change your postion after viewing a lot of evidence. And it seems you begin to enjoy something you would hardly ever consider listening before. High five, guys - not for liking Tool, but for being really open to new experiences.

Danny’s a beast! Only recently appreciated after listening. The best ever? I don’t think any drummer can, or should, take that title. The ‘best’ have all contributed in their own way to the ever evolving beauty of music. In the last 20 years, Beauford & Danny’s creativity are on another level! His singles and doubles….🤯🤯

Well said! 👏 I’m a ridiculous Danny fan and Beauford is also a super-beast! Have you heard Meshuggah? Whether you like the harsh vocals or not the drummer Tomas Haake has done some very cool things for drumming. I recommend checking out the Nostrum or Clockworks or Bleed drum cam and then maybe the songs “Rational Gaze” or “Dancers to a Discordant System.”

The truth is, every member of that band should have their own camera on them, and you'd hear a different version of the song most every time because you're focusing on one part of the whole. That's how good they really are. You just saw the drummer live, it's too bad you couldn't see what the bass player was doing the entire song, or the guitarist. Maynard singing and his vocals.

great reaction. there will always be talk about who is the best. its a question i feel has no answer. the greats are the greats because of their individual work. lets just enjoy them for what they did. but i must say i have spent tine listening back on tool songs i know well and i always pickup something i never heard from danny carey. i also have not ever heard someone who can hold 4 different time signatures at one time and then roll polys on top of the 4 signatures.

im a nightwish fan too but Tool and Pink Floyd are my favourite bands. Theyre somewhat hard to get into initially but when you get used to the complex rhythms and understand the lyrics I think youll get a similar feeling from both bands as you do with nightwish. Tool songs id reccomend. Schism, The Grudge, The patient, Parabol/Parabola (theyre 1 song), Sober (live version), 46 and 2. Pink Floyd : Time, Echoes, Us and Them, The Great Gig in the sky (amazing female vocals), Comofortably numb.

The part that always gets me about this video is how effortlessly he makes it and most other drummers that see this are mostly speechless. You should check out Forty Six and Two than there is a kids music academy on youtube called O'Keefe Music Foundation that covered it and it was amazing. Edit: There is a "drum battle" that Godsmack did. That was amazing too. I think Kai from Wintersun and Nightwish has some drum cam videos too.

As much as I love this drum cam video, the song itself gets lost a little bit. Pneuma is your soul, your spirit, your breath. Maynard is calling you to become a creator. You are the "sun becoming". "Reach out remember! We are all born of, One Breath...One Word." TOOL might be the most positive metal band of all time.

The top 1% of the professional drummers of the world are hard to rank, because they are all virtuos on their instrument - a fulltime working professional musician has mastered his instrument (sometimes instrument"s") on peak level on every known technique and style. They nearly all of a comparable skillset - the only thing where we have the big differences is "style" and creativity because those are individual. But i think if you say to elite drummer 1 "hey play a complex song of drummer 2" he would be able to play it a few hours later on point.

When it comes to Tool, I would strongly recommend that you start from the very first EP "Opiate" and go through their albums in order. That way you can hear the evolution of this great band. :) You can find playlists of all of their albums from their KZread channel. Try to avoid music videos, they can be distracting. The song "Sober" (from album Unertow) has a nice live performance from the year 1993, worth checking, other than that, just the songs. And try to look up the lyrics (on mobile for example) because Maynard's singing is often mixed quite low in purpose and can be hard to hear.
