I was surprised by Draper: he started really well. But seems he couldn't handle the tension for long time. Daniil is on another level. He could easily have won 6-4, 6-2. Sometimes I wonder if he enjoys complicating his life 🤣❤

He’s not very confident in his serve, to avoid DF, he played a bit conservative when serving for the set, gave Draper an opportunity to fight back. Yes, should win 6-4, 6-2

​@tamnatalie3 As a fan of him I hope that he can improve throughout the tournament especially on his serve. If he serves better, it isn't easy for anyone to beat him.

Decent performance by Jack. Numerous break points but was always going to be tough to win against the octopus. All part of the learning experience.

Draper is clearly a big talent, but after watching most of his matches in the last 3 years I think his stamina is still a major question mark, especially in hot conditions. I also don't think he plays his best when the pressure is really on, either goes into his shell or chooses the wrong shot. Hopefully he can improve in both areas over time. I do struggle to see him getting inside the top 10 any time soon though.

Kind of agree. He's not great at clutch moments, but neither was Sinner a few years ago so people can change. Not that he's anywhere close to Sinners level but I could see him cementing a place in the Top 20 in a few years.

Agree mostly but also keep in mind he played Clayvedev today, if he played other players this version of him could have beaten most Top 40 players easily

Medvedev used to play on clay courts as if it were a hard court. Now he seems to have accepted the situation and plays like how it should be played. I'm sure he is still not enjoying it but looks like he tries to get the most of it.

Med doing Med things (namely, defensive pushing to grind out results). Love the big guy! UK resident here.

Well done Medvedev! Also Draper made an error and my dad thought that was going to go in , even he did not look at the match in that point and when he saw it was crushed against the net he opened his mouth out of the surprise and he did not close it in ten seconds!

That's part of being unseeded, you face a seed in the second round who will be favored to beat you. Aside from his run at Adelaide to start the year, Jack tends to beat the people below him and lose to the people above him.

Nah, he's a British player not named Andy Murray. Meaning that people will expect more of him than he's actually able to give. He's a good player with the potential to pull off the occasional upset and maybe pick up a 250 title or two, but I don't think he'll ever be a regular fixture in the top 20 or a serious contender at the big tournaments.
