    @@mattinfullvision9598 Your point stands, but I read somewhere that “soccer” is actually British in origin (correct me if I’m wrong).

    @@civichoo6017 I'm afraid you have been taken in by one of the many fake facts out there. The word soccer is definitely of American origin as they were already using football for the early variations of rugby which became what they call football in America

    @@mattinfullvision9598 O.K., I just did a quick search and it does appear there are a couple articles supporting the idea that “soccer” was originally an English term: www.google.com/amp/s/time.com/5335799/soccer-word-origin-england/%3famp=true; www.google.com/amp/s/www.britannica.com/amp/story/why-do-some-people-call-football-soccer (there are a couple others). It seems plausible. I wouldn’t exactly call the theory a “fake fact,” but, at the end of the day, I’m not too invested on whether it’s called football or soccer lol (though I agree with you that “football” makes more sense)
