@Mr Olsen Sir. Your comment seems to be knee jerk sarcasm based solely on emotion rather than any evidence, explanation or logic. Hannan has been a centrist pro-democracy, anti-collectivist and anti-plutocratic all his adult life, and made quite clear his disapproval of Putin's methods to gaining omnipotency. He has even used the Russian government fake parliament, fake representation and dictatorial model as as an analogy for the evils of the EU Commission! So, please do explain, of what exactly are you accusing him?

Peter Bradley. From what I read and hear, plus what I view on KZread, Mr. Farage is unlikely to lose many points to any of those present in Strausberg, since their arguments cluster toward repetitive, and remain unconvincing. Besides, it clearly is difficult for them to dredge up the testosterone needed for another showdown with Mr. Farage, after having been outdrawn and outshot so consistently. Glazed grins just don't make up for intellectual inertia. It is a little surprising, though, that Mrs. Merkel seems unable to see why the remaining nation-states of Europe are somehow underimpressed with the charm of Germany's drive to bully the rest of Europe into speaking German. Can't think why. Look how trustworthy Volkswagen has turned out to be. Ta.

Hannan’s comments are a heinous affront to Gaia and Communism as well as being intolerant hate speech. For The People™ nothing is more important than stringent Party orthodoxy. They must be taught to denounce all class enemies as well as their parents, friends, educators and other assorted reactionary dogs for crimes committed against the state. Furthermore, a consensus has been formed; the science has been settled, the debate is over. Deniers must be burned at the stake for heresy, apostasy, and treason to the scientific consensus.

What sets this man apart from most other politicians is that he is a deep thinker, worth hearing whichever part of the political spectrum you occupy. Where most politicians are superficial, dishonest careerists with nothing to offer but fear-mongering and obfuscation, he possesses the power to ignite his audiences with a new passion for politics and, most importantly, with hope. He can inspire us with a will to retake control of our own destiny, the only sure foundation upon which to build a brighter future. We must never allow our democratic rights and political engagement to be whittled away by the faceless Brussels bureaucrats.

His major political project (Brexit) has weakened UK more than any other policy the last 200 years. Which is why a big and increasingly bigger majority of the UK population considers Brexit a mistake. The talent of Hannan is purely oratory, but sadly a talent strong enough to make ludicrous propositions sound like the only sensible course of action. The political wisdom of nations are generally inversely proportional to the number of "Daniel Hannan analysts" in action.

Wonderful speech, both in content and delivery. This quote in particular is so pithy i'll have to write it down: "When you take the demos out of democracy, you're left only with the cratos - with the power of a system that must compel by law, what it dare not ask in the name of civic patriotism". A federalist EU is anti-Europe. The deliberate, manipulative attempts by many politicians to conflate the EU and Europe in the public mind should be called out on every occasion. If the EU is to exist, it should be minimalist, and be contained in that state by strong constitutional laws.

@TheMadScotsman mckay Well said Mad Mac ! We have been sold the lie of "shared sovereignty, sometimes they call it " pooled sovereignty" again, a lie. Sovereignty cannot by the definition of sovereignty be shared. To lose, or give away sovereignty is to abolish ones nation. To accept laws imposed by a foreign power is to accept the abolition of ones nation. To remove borders, eventually also removing them from maps as national demarcation lines, replaced by outlines of administrative areas, is to accept the abolition of ones country. We want it back, so that we can cooperate in areas of mutual benefit, but be free to make our own treaties, our own trading arrangements, our own laws instead of ,as currently approximately 2/3 of our laws emanating from Russell's with EU law taking supremacy over the laws we have made ourselves. Tied as we are to the EU, we are not free to adopt good ideas from other countries, unless 27 other EU members agree. That is not progress, except towards the dreary harmful one size fits all of the Orwellian super state. To hell with it. No one needs it. Europe will be better when we are all free nations once again rather than the soon to be monolith Europa. Nations that make their own laws, trade where and when they will in friendly cooperation.

Try looking up at the sky it appears every day our sovereignty is being infringed with aeroplanes flying over, landing etc from scores of different countries. He is saying what many have already seen. I took part in the Schalke International Military Tattoo earlier this year. We (a British band) were conversing with a German band, and they were looking at the medals on our uniforms. One asked a question: "Which war is that medal from?" Another German said (in comically forgetful tone): "Vat War, vat war? Then all together with the John Cleese classic. "Don't mention ze var!" Laughing, smiling and in good humour. The USA grew from 213M to 310M; Thats 45% vs. 12% or 3% (!); But pop grow indicated GDP grow is not wealth grow. The GDP per pop matters!

As for Asia, I guess Hannan has never heard of ASEAN founded in 1967 which brings together now 10 countries of SE East Asia.
