KZread won't even let me write the disgusting nastiness this show portrays. And somehow the viewers are supposed to become enthralled in it. I had to give up watching the last few seasons, I honestly think there's something wrong in the minds of the writers.

It's like they wanted to try to portray viking warriors and raiders realistically but they didn't want to accept the natural consequences of criticizing their evil actions (their brutality and evilness almost on par with the likes of isis) and having the audience shunning and feeling disgusted by that; so they kept the portrayal still likable so that we could still view them as a type of interesting heroes.... Which is what I have a problem with. Don't try to show their despicable violence but then pretend they are still all people you'll want to follow and see more of. Either keep it romanticized please (like pirates) OR actually show them in the line of a historical documentary for the disgusting turds they really were (also like pirates).

​@@tennisjiujitsu It's puzzling why one would celebrate it, especially in the last few seasons, where it's like the writers rejoiced in what is basically just colonialism, m*****, sl*****, r*** and c***d neglect. Somehow the viewer is supposed to identify, cheer and become enthralled in that world of filth... Vikings: the show that made me happy my ancestors culture died out and got replaced. But that certainly was not a point the shows writers had intended. And indeed, in general viewers just gobble up the crap they are served, no questions asked.

@@natedlc854 it's just speculation because they don't know for sure. Some suggest it's because he had a bone disease like portrayed, other say he was called boneless because he couldn't have kids! Obviously the one the wetn for in the series was the more dramatic for viewing. He wouldn't of had same impact in the series if he wnst a cripple.. Maybe maybe not m, just my opinion.. 👍

@@todgerx The norse used sarcastic names and its still in use today in Scandinavia, for example Harald Finehair didnt meant his hair was beautifull or fair it meant his hair was either so boneless most likely meant his hair was thinning or becuase he had promised not to cut his hair until he had acquired all of norway according to legend. Ivar apparently was very agile in battle and that is most likely the reason he got his name boneless because he was so fast and flexible others thought he had no bones in his legs.

For those just getting into norse culture and mythology because of this show, welcome. As somebody who is Scandinavian my mother raised me as a norse pagan and our culture is fascinating. As far as Ivar, he was a real man. Once Ivar began his own conquering, he made his way to what is now Ireland. Ivar the boneless founded Dublin and 2 other major cities. Ivar is a folklore hero in my culture and Vikings depicted this man spot on.

And still to this day ben løs means leg loose in Danish, a person whos legs are loose, IE. can´t sit still, constantly active or is well travelled.

This music makes me proud to be part Danish. My Grandmother is from Sjælland so I wonder if my ancestors were present in Denmark during the Viking period
