this narrow tricky place every surfer has to pass to get to the famous surf spot in Uluwatu Bali. it starts easy but at around 1 min in the video its getting really uncomfortable.

I was a regular visitor here from '94 for ten years or so.. a few trips..this is high tide and It's at least a 2 or 3 mtr swell. For your last wave in it's best to be more inside than the waves you surf in the session..if you miss the cave on your way in on a day like this it's annoying..my diaries bring back the morning's waking in Ketut's warung and getting out at first light and scoring this great spot uncrowded..loved the roll out tide first thing too made Racetrack superb..

Well, in the afternoon like around 2pm i've been there, and it's not dangerous at all because the water goes away (sorry if i make mistake, i'm french) so it's easy to go and on the right you can go to a beautiful beach. But i didn't thought that it was so so dangerous in the morning, wow, it's amazing. Thanks to record that, it's totally different when the tide is up ! Great video ! I've really loved this place, it's so beautiful really. :)

on full tiden its always like this, also with small swell but its pretty easy to handle. way mor tricky is to aim the cave outside to exit. Next stop is padang padang :D

FYI. This video is is taken during a maximum high tide. That's the only time the water fills the entire cave. At mid tide you can walk to the point where the surfer going out met the surfer coming in and it is much easier. At low tide, there is no wave action anywhere near the cave because the reef is completely exposed and no waves can make it in.

Randsurfer ...thats not true..all tide and swell size and going into the water to surf at uluwatu is extremely hazardous and even life threatening...there has been many injuries and some fatalaties. also so much malaria and the cook has cholera...and it costs 10,000rp to park a motorbike..50,000rps for a car..Canggu is safer and way,way cooler...with better coffee.

stee vo ..haha...yes it was all bullshit...Ulus can really handle 5 times the number of people that are getting in and out of the cave nowadays...Those conditions occur only once in a blue moon and coinciding with Jupiter aligning with Mars..at other times it is so easy even a girl could get out and even surfers who come from countries with no coast and SUP operators...and there are plenty of boards to rent if you havent got your own and want to be a part of the Uluwatu surfing experience.

On a big day, what happens if you miss the cave? I know there's Padang, then Impossibles (if I remember right). Is it easy enough to paddle to shore? I know there's quite a walk/hitchhike if you go all the way to Bingin. But I've never been there when its been big. And great video by the way, I've never seen the cave like that. Is that just high tide, or was there a big swell?

Is this the only way to the line up at high tide, looks pretty treacherous, also looks like a really cool spot, I can see paddling out, but like belly boarding in looks sketchy, I'd be like let's wait for the tide to go out bra😭 I see Dings & reef rash in your future.🤙

Everybody has to know their limits, and be humble enough, Not to put yourself in a situation like that. Dont be ashamed, by standing on the beach, watching and learning. I love surfing, but i dont want to die, because my ego, say, If those guys can dot it, so do i. Patiente, and pratice, its the key.

@yudiweb not sure, heard many time a whistle. Didn't see someone special, but they are a lot of experienced local (Balinese) surfers, which I'm positive they might help if necessary. But keep in mind, that not only there Bali has some strong and tricky currents and I hear often about killed people...mostly swimmers.

@XSurfmonsterX sure not always, guess the circumstances (hight tide, waves, swell etc.) made this situation. most of the surfers on this day had no problem to get in and out. maybe it looks wilder as it in reality is.
