‘Dangerous’: Chris Bowen’s net zero push ‘threatens to destroy’ energy market

The Albanese government’s green agenda continues to “ramp up” at a pace which threatens to "destroy” what is already a dwindling energy security market, says Sky News contributor Steve Price.
According to Mr Price, the “dangerous” Energy and Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen announced emissions from farms, buildings, waste dumps and passenger vehicles will be subject to “aggressive national reduction targets”.

That was a methane bomb that went off at that time. We didn't get one this time because temperatures simply didn't climb high enough to set it off. During the COVID lockdowns, trace greenhouse gas output decreased, except for methane, It kept right on climbing as if the lockdown didn't occur. Temperatures have climbed high enough now that methane hydrate is decomposing off the Arctic continental shelves. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, trace greenhouse gases have increased in the atmosphere by 50%. Chinese are buying up land and houses in Australia like there is no tomorrow. They will easily overtake the population of ethnic Europeans here in a few decades. They dont need a war, they will just take over eventually, then they will send their polluting industry to Australia, and move the industries from Chyna. Its all in the Chynese Art of War. They could put all the whites in Australia in one city, and we would be happy.....and they can run the rest of the place. They have cities with 35 million people in them........all the 20 million whites of Australia in Sydney or Melbourne would be a cinch.

Wind farms and solar farms have run their race and will not proceed as it has been determined the astronomical costs are not sustainable. An intermittent form of energy as the main component is unacceptable to industry and the population at large. The shelf life of solar and wind infrastructure is short term and replacement is cost prohibitive. Nuclear is a good option as well. Here's a small sample of how many coal plants there are in the world today. I could go into using the advanced technology of thermally efficient, supercritical steam generators using our own world's best metallurgical coal; but what's the point, it is treated as hearsay and political hyperbole here in Oz. The EU has 468 plants, building 27 more for a total of 495. They tell everyone else it's their responsibility to 'Save The Planet' from Climate Change, typical Europeans; morals are a philosophy, honesty is a heresy! Turkey has 56 plants, building 93 more, total 149 South Africa has 79, building 24 more, total 103 India has 589, building 446 more, total 1036 The Philippines has 19, building 60 more, total 79 South Korea has 58, building 26 more, total 84 Japan has 90, building 45 more, total 135 AND CHINA has 2363, building 1171, total 3534 And our AUSTRALIAN politicians are going to shut down our 6 remaining plants and save the planet. The energy bills will go up dramatically and with it the prices of everything, food for example. So if we let this politics to continue, we should really understand that it will affect our lives very much in a negative way - Our living standard is going down already and it will plummet, many jobs will be lost in the process.

Drive average Australian farmers out of business after possible generations, and have multinationals or billionaires come in and buy their farms,as they will be the only ones who will be able to afford it. Sad. If these government bodies care about the average Australian ,stop driving our living costs up and driving the rest of us out of business.

Pie in the sky NET ZERO, means endless pain for people who can't afford it, power price rises, will go up and up into the distant future, thousands of people can't pay there power bills now, it won't be too long before many more people will be approaching poverty level.

Again, if we, Australia and the other nutters in the world achieve "Net Zero" by 2030+ , what is going to happen to the attitudes if the Carbon in the atmosphere has reduced somewhat but there is no change to Global temperatures? (a very likely scenario). What a waste of money all of this would be.

What facts are those mate? What is wrong with people wanting a good standard of living and being able to provide for a family. The answer is simple: Nuclear energy. Cheaper energy than intermittent renewables, more of it, more reliably with lower environmental impact. We can have clean energy and maintain standards of living and an industrialised economy.

@@polarbear7255 Sure we can, if we do soon. It takes ALOT of oil to build a power plant. Seems we are just burning it up and manufacturing trash with it. One fact about today is that ocean water Temps have hit over 98° f this week off Florida and areas around Europe . Many rivers no longer flow into the ocean, we use it right up to grow crops in deserts and ship them thousands of miles away. We don't need to do that. It's just profit driven greed.
