The father did not cut his daughter's hair off to make them look like boys. He cut them as they are a distraction, which would have distracted them from their goal- to win the gold medal. Your family is adorable!

Actually remember he said the father has to step aside for the coach? The coach did it so they would stop wining like little girls and do their training. No pun intended. We did it and do it in the armed forces. :)

The actor is Amir khan..yes in this movie He cut thr hair wen he strtd teaching them wrestling...and the last part was him only..his younger version for which he transformd himself in 6mnths to shoot that part..you should see his transformation video for this movie..it's amazing!

This is must watch movie for you guys !!! The father daughter relationship narrative is unique here . Some parents are so committed to their own dreams that sometimes they became vulnerable towards their kids . Occasionally it may turn out to be good for the kids . These girls still play for India and made the country proud in many championships !!! Gita won gold in commonwealth games and the first Indian woman to qualify for summer Olympic . The other girl vinesha got gold in Asian games last year . And the third girl got gold in Melbourne commonwealth games . "" the family that broke all stereotypes but it was not easy for these girls for sure ""

This movie broke all box office records in India. It's a must watch. He got their hair cut for convenience and he trained them with boys so they could be stronger than any female wrestler out there. The most inspiring part is that the place they grew up in is infamous for gender discrimination (sometimes fatally so). He overcame all objections from his family and neighbours to do what he thought was right for his girls.

One of them said that it's difficult to manage the hair and they were getting lices, hence the father cut their hair; so they can focus on their training. Do watch the entire movie its really fascinating and entertaining.

Quick summary He(Mahavir phoghat) always wanted to win gold medal for India but because of financial conditions he couldn't continue wrestling. Then he wished his son would do it one day but fate had something and his wife bore 4 daughters. He taught them wrestling, initially girls weren't interested they gav reasons like long hair,can't jog in dress..but Mahavir made sure he removed all the obstacles like cut their hair,made them wear shorts etc and finally as they grew they took interest n won gold medalsssss He has 4 girls and all his daughters are wrestlers and made India proud🙏

The hair wasn't cut short to make the girls look like boys. It's a basic wrestling tactic. When it's short, your opponent can't grab hold of it. He celebrates his daughters in the movie.

The actor at the end is the same who plays the old guy the father of those girls. He cut their hair in their childhood because he had the mindset that hair is her daughter's one of those distractions.. he wants them at bay from any sort of distractions. In one of the scenes in the movie when the girls don't want to practice or become wrestlers.. they make excuses and one of those excuses are that their hair are getting spoilt from the dirt and hence his step. This story which is a real one is based in the village and underdeveloped section of india where the mindset of people is still very Victorian era kinda mindset generally speaking. He makes his girls wrestle with boys because there is no other way he can give them match practice. Because there were no girls before these 2 in that district/area who played this sport. So he takes them to practice and in the process thr girls not only get stronger fighting with the physically stronger guys but also learn from the losses. And then when the girls are eligible for nationals he takes them to the selection and from their on there journey to become professional athletes began.
